Cate's Diary

Weedwhacking to heavy metal sounds like a good time to me :D Passing through or not: if he'd liked your garden he would've stayed so better safe than soŕry indeed.

Sounds like a productive day outside!

That is too bad to have to do all that work to reorganize the garden if he was just passing through, but better safe than sorry!
It actually looks better now. I think I had let it get a bit unruly.
Too bad you had to cover up on a nice hot day. De-snakifying sounds like good hard work! I can just picture you out there blaring heavy metal music and going to town on the weeds!!
Never the heavy metal for me. Rock is more my thing or the blues. I did go to town in the garden.

He doesn't have anywhere much to hide in that yard now :)
Sounds like a productive day outside!
It sure was. I felt really good afterwards.
Hope the snake stays away Cate . Your weather sounds lovely especially from a chilly ireland
I hope so too, Petal. Not so lovely today. It's chilly & very windy. Crazy.

It's the xmas lunch with the golfing ladies today. I can't say I'm looking forward to it, but hopefully, I'll enjoy it.

I picture the golfing ladies in "Driving Miss Daisy" outfits and white gloves, drinking iced tea and dabbing their mouths gently with handkerchiefs, with you amongst them, the only one looking like you are from this century.

Haha. Thanks, Em, Marsia & LaMa. They're ok, really. I usually don't want to go out but then usually enjoy myself once I'm there. I was welcomed warmly by almost all of them, which was nice. I was there for about 4 hours, which was plenty though & felt good about not staying longer. I am going to apply for "leave of absence" before next years dues. I'll see how my knee heals before I even consider going back, but I will call in from time to time & keep going to their birthday lunches.
When I got home G was home from golf & I asked him if A's wife is going to SA for the golfing nationals & she is. I have been feeling conflicted about not going. I started looking at accommodation & found a lovely reasonably priced apartment on the beach, talked to G about it & booked it. Then I looked at airfares and ship fares & booked the ship, after discussing that we would both rather go on the ship than a plane & we both love a road trip. Looks like we're going to South Australia in March. The accom. is fully refundable up until 5 days before & the ship fares can be amended without charge. G was really happy that I decided to go. I can't stay home scared of Covid forever. We will literally be 2 mins from the beach-
1608156799499.png This close! I think there must have been a cancellation & I got lucky. I feel quite excited about it now. I also have an added incentive to lose a few kilos by then. G will be playing golf 4 of the days that we are there & I will have free time on my own with the beach at my doorstep :D
Edit: Started tracking my calories as of today :) Aiming for 1400 a day, but will allow some back from exercise, via my Fitbit.

So happy you'll get in a lovely vacation at the beach and get to get away!!! Nice you had a good time with the tennis ladies, and the leave of absence sounds like a great idea!

Thanks, Marsia. It will be fun. Now that I have decided I'm going I feel quite excited. There will be non-player activities that I can choose to do, or not do. I love the Adelaide market. Hopefully, one will be a trip to the wineries :D

Who knows what might happen between now & then, LaMa but hopefully Australia will stay comparatively “safe”. If so I will happily swim for you :)

So long as you don't visit Sydney I think you will be fairly Covid safe :)

SA coastal areas have a lot of plusses, I think you will enjoy your trip :)

Hi, Tru. We just never know where outbreaks may occur, but I'm tired of all of the what-ifs & am glad I have booked. If there is another outbreak in SA in the weeks before our trip I won't go. The apartment we have booked is half of a house, right on a sand dune. It looks like an old school shack & very beachy. I am excited about it.

We are heading for town today & it will be crazy one week before xmas  We have some paperwork to drop off, an order to pick up & some shopping to do. Wish me luck!

Good luck! I was considering using my free morning to get some shopping done but you just made me think again :)

This spam (spoof) was just in my diary. Can you believe the rubbish we get here? :svengo:

G & I went to town today & checked off the things on our list. I bought his present, which is now not a surprise, but it saved me another 120 km return trip so I'm ok with that. We decided against lunch & went in early, got everything done & were home by 1 pm. I bought him a firefighting backpack that he can use the next time he lights "a few small fires". Our bush across from the house does not look pretty.
I only have a few small presents left to buy & am going into the market tomorrow, leaving G & Arch at home :D

Sounds like a very successful shopping morning. That’s a really useful present for G! :p
