Cate's Diary

An EP is an exercise physiologist. I have found the exercises & stretches, now I just have to read them & start. I'm getting there :blush5: Some qi gong would be good for me. I love that. Thanks, Liza.
I'm actually feeling a bit off-colour today. My eyes are stinging. They have been for days actually & I have a slight headache. It feels like hayfever. I took Arch for a walk just before lunch & I might just have a snooze right now.

it must be coming up to spring where you are, right? My eyes are unhappy as well so I'm kind of wishing for autumn to roll around quickly.

Spring has come a little early I think. The wattle trees & daffodils are out in flower everywhere. I didn’t have a nap, but did polish off a book (large-print :blush5: ) & just got back from taking Archie for another walk.
I forgot to say- after doing a huge shop yesterday in readiness for having D & the kids for the 4th w/e in a row, I got a message from him last night saying that they will all stay at his gf’s place this w/e. I’m glad really. It needed to be discussed & needed to be sorted. We’re just very well stocked up & that’s ok too.

As long as you don't have to throw it all away I can see it being a relief. But that's coming from someone who's always secretly relieved when things get canceled :p

LaMa- I am always secretly relieved when things get cancelled too. I did go a little bit mad stocking up, but most of it will be fine. G & I will just be eating a lot of salad items & that won't hurt us. He's playing golf tomorrow at my course (his old one) so I have the day to myself. I'm not going near the club as I decided I didn't want to be in the same room as some of them.
I might make a pot of mostly celery soup as I have heaps. I bought lots of good dark chocolate as it was on special, but that's ok too. It doesn't tempt me for some reason. I had even bought a lemon cake baked by Rh at the fruit & veg shop. I had cut it into slices & frozen it & will serve it up warm with a little maple syrup & ice-cream next time they're here. I will make their pizza sandwiches up today & freeze them too. Next time they're here will be much easier.
Em- I'm glad we do too. I wouldn't have minded having them here this w/e so much as D has the day off tomorrow & is going to take them somewhere, but it's the evenings I like to be quiet & they are naturally noisy, especially when they are with their Dad. I sound like an old grump because mostly they are laughing while they play card games. I do love them a lot, but just don't want them here every w/e. Once a month would be fun.

It's really cold here today & we're only expecting a top of 9°C & it's going to be showery, with possible snow and/or hail. I will have to rug up to take Arch for a walk, but we'll fit it in somewhere. I can see some blue sky out there peeking through the clouds. Not a lot, but some :)

So, you're coming into spring now? How nice! I'm so ready for fall! This heat is just too much. I know what you mean about feeling glad when company cancels! Hahhaa sometimes I love company but it usually means more work for me. At least you're stocked up!

Our Summers are not so hot in Tasmania so I really enjoy them. I love company too, but preferably somewhere else so that I can come home to peace & quiet. I am well & truly stocked up. I'll now have to pretend it's not there :)

Hopefully you can get that balance right with the visits. Good you spoke to your son and maybe now you guys can sort something out that feels fun for everyone.
Good too that most of the stuff you bought can be saved for next visit--if that were me with that cake it would never last haha

I'm looking forward to fall though I am wondering what this fall will be like with covid around. The outdoors has been such a relief with everything shut down...moving into colder days, earlier nights, no garden work...well we'll have to see. I kind of envy your daffodils...

Here is too a happy GK free weekend Cate . Sounds like you need it . I think you have given me an idea for the weekend and that’s to plant daffodils. I wonder is it too early . Must check it out .

Yet another reason to visit Taz when LaMa wins the lotto! :p

I am all for being hosted. Some people love to have other people over, and they are so relaxed about it. I'd have to have the place scrubbed clean. I used to share a house with a girl who loved hosting but would never clean the place beforehand, which would lead me to a sense of shame and cleaning the place for her parties. It did not work out well, haha.

Liza- In a way Autumn & Winter were easier with Covid as it's easier to stay at home & be less sociable when it's colder. Spring & Summer everyone wants to get out more & socialise. I feel we're in a bit of a limbo here in Tasmania as there are no new cases & the only active cases are in quarantine, but there are still restrictions & most people you interact with are confused about what we should & shouldn't be doing. I deliberately bought a cake with gluten so that I wouldn't be tempted ;)
Petal- I'm now home on my own with a free day & feel I should be going somewhere interesting. Archie thinks so too.
LaMa- G made a rhubarb crumble for us & that was delicious. We have been having a small piece of it each day with a scoop of icecream. He makes it with very little sugar.
Em- I always clean like crazy when people are coming too. I would much rather go to someone else's house.
Archie gives me such a look when he thinks it's walk time. This laptop is not his friend.
I feel like I should be going somewhere & visiting someone, but I think I'm turning into a bit of a hermit. All the antiseptic handwash everywhere stings my eyes & gives me such a headache. I usually need at least 2 days to recover.

Wow, no new cases? Such a different story in the US. In my county alone, we had 16 new cases today and a total of 325 positives. Just in one county. And it's not that big of a county ...

but there are still restrictions & most people you interact with are confused about what we should & shouldn't be doing.
yes it does get confusing doesn't it? i chose to just really limit who i saw and people really seemed to respect my choice to stay away and avoid socializing for the most part. There are so many people who were part of my day to day life that I haven't seen since this all began!

that sounds sooooo good--one of my most favorite desserts!

Cate I am very much hermit like gone . I forced myself to call a friend and text 2 more the other day . Thing is I think we all as bad . Could you share the rhubarb crumble recipe, is it diabetic friendly ?

We have crumble most weekends at home, so tasty, and I feel it’s not the unhealthiest of desserts.

I’ve gone through phases of wanting to be a hermit too - sometimes you just need a bit of a break from everyone. Don’t worry.

Hi Cate - I just realized you are coming out of your winter into spring and summer - is that right? It's confusing...
