Cate's Diary

I hope you do seriously consider the friend's house as a place to park your car. With asking for favors, most people love to help friends, and then you'd owe them a favor, and you could take them out to lunch or somewhere nice in return. I was actually wondering if you could join the memorial service via video instead. That's great that you can. I hate when I cut hair and it doesn't turn out the way I planned, but luckily, it grows out!

We won't be going to our friend's memorial service next week as airfares are ridiculous. We would have to go over & back in one day & it would cost us almost $2K. We'll watch the live stream.
watching the livestream seems a much better idea. It is too bad it's so expensive to go!

Thanks, Llama, Marsia & Liza. Watching the memorial service by live stream will be the way we go. It will be disappointing not to be able to catch up with so many of our old friends but going over & back in one day wasn't going to give us much of a chance anyway.
I'll give the trip over next month for the 100th a bit more thought. I'll have to book Arch into different kennels as well.
I'll be leaving soon. I'll pop back later xo

Celebrating a 100th birthday is properly special. I've come across a handful of centenarians professionally but never anyone I knew personally.

I hope they throw a huge shindig for your centenarian. Wow, someone whose childhood was the 1920s, when penicillin was discovered and the tv was invented. I hope he tells lots of stories about his life! That's too bad you don't get to go catch up with old friends. Maybe you can do a nice vacation sometime soon?

You should definitely ask your friend about parking at their house, you have a good reason and I feel they will be delighted to help such delightful people!

Thanks, Vic, Llama, Marsia, Liza & Em.
Going to a 100th is pretty special. G & I are making a bit of a cruise with it by going over by ship. We'll only have 2 nights away, but both will be onboard.
I have the day free today after all so I will make some calls. I will book Arch into kennels that are along the way. They look comfortable. I might ring K today & ask her about leaving the car with her & if she knows what the kennels are like.
I just got sidetracked checking things out & almost forgot to come back.
I'll pop back later I think xo

That sounds so fun doing a cruise and really fun birthday party! I hope it works out really well with the car and kennels.

Thanks, Marsia & Llama. I never want to go on a real cruise, but going on the ship to this party will be so much less stressful for me. I haven't worked anything out yet, but will. I have sent some messages out into the ether.
I have had a lovely day at home & am glad I made that decision. I have caught up with some housework, walked Archie & rang my sister. All in all a relaxing & peaceful day. It's 3 pm & G is on his way home. I hope his day went well.

That sounds so relaxing, having someone else drive, but on the water where you can sleep with the waves rocking the boat. I've only taken long ferry rides, like from England to Europe, so will have to live vicariously. Your day sounds so peaceful and nice.

Sounds like a great day Cate. And nice that you worked out a less stressful plan for getting to the party.

Hey @Cate I sure am happy you and the forum are still here!

I feel the same about big cruise ships, I really like being on the water but the idea of hundreds of people packed together doesn't sound like my idea of fun. I did spend a few days on the Queen Mary in LA. It's an old cruise ship that has been turned into a hotel. I went to a conference there. It never leaves the dock, and probably never will. That was interesting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Queen_Mary

Thanks, everyone & welcome back Rob. I'm sure we have all missed you :grouphug:
I'm going to play golf with the women today. K & T will be there. Hopefully, I'll get to play with one or both of them 🤞
I woke early this morning & couldn't get back to sleep but I feel OK. It was good to have a relaxing day at home yesterday.

Glad you enjoyed such a lovely golf day Cate!
