Those veg prices are horrendous  Would canned (I quite like tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans) or frozen (maybe green peas, carrots, broccoli/cauliflower) be more affordable? At least that way it's already a little softer.

today was shopping
i wasnt quite ready to
go with it figured out
so i got
4 onions at 2.50
4 tiny red peppers at 5,99 lb
bag of 5 carrots pretty dried out looking for 3.00
4 tomatoes at 3,00 lb
4 smaller tomatoes at 2,49 lb
4 small chicken breast on sale at 3,99 lb
not sure of my total cost now
was bought at 2 stores( my 1 store shopping hasnt began yet)
leftover from last time-
4 onions
shopping again in 4-5 days(the 1x a week hasnt started yet either)
Now the spreading out of these things
and if it works out to be more than the 5 i just have less
next time
sooo
one day a chicken breast
2 tomatoes
1 carrot boiled til soft
one day a chicken breast
2 tomatoes
1 red pepper fried with 1 or 2 onions
and so on
im not sure if thats how u do it or not

thats not alot but i recently heard that there
are people who have 2 dollars a day after they
pay rent and other bills
my 5 bucks is looking real good right now

its still totally illogical that i get free insulin all i can use
that costs in the hundreds a month
it would be alot cheaper to give people
say maybe another 200 a month for food
then maybe save on all that insulin
because they can only afford cheap foods
that cause medical problems
also if u look at the calories provided
by that small amount of healthy food
its cheaper to buy a 1 dollar bag of chips and get 1200
calories
that is a crying shame

ok now the bad post
if the previous one wasnt bad enough

when my 1x a week 1 store shopping starts
i will have the increased cost of approx. 80 a month
for transportation
i dont even want to figure out how this impacts the
5 a day for food
it looks like it chops off 2,66 a day (is that right? 80 divided by 30 days?)
leaving me about 2.50 for food a day
i may be down to that 1 dollar bag of chips
and a bottle of water
and 1/4 a tomato

i wont know about this situation until
i know for sure my families moving

i can look into frozen veggies
they run about 3 bucks for 350 grams size
some are 500 grams for 3
depends on the veggie
cans are not good with my high bp
i just hate that they are so plain tasting
with no salt
maybe try to find a sugar free salt free spice

It may be a little late since you say you won´t have transportation but does your area have a food bank? Also: if you´re going with sugar free salt free spice garlic powder and onion powder are a great start.

the food bank does not give fresh or frozen foods out
not to individuals anyway

im to eat fruits vegetables and protein
and low carb equal to 4 slices of bread which is 60 grams of carbs

our food bank told me they only give protein
out to families with children
so adults get
part packages of things like rice tea coffee crackers junky cereals
that theyve divided into small baggies
and cans of high carb sugary salty foods
like pasta or soups
sometimes a can of tuna
or can of juice

it goes way against what the dr says to eat
because there is sugar in the cans of foods too
plus the salts not good for my high blood pressure

so he basically unknowingly with all good intentions
sentenced me to more food insecurity

if i get to see him next i go to see a camera dr
(if i get to see him)
i guess i shud mention that i cant eat his suggested way
i will give it a try first tho

and i really like garlic and onion powder
getting some next i have the extra 5 bucks for them

I agree you should mention your food budget to your doctor. If you´re eating as little as you are at the moment even a high-sodium can of food may not exceed your daily limit? Same with junky cereal: if you only have a small amount as dessert after some meat and veggies you may still remain within your carb/sugar limit (with the veg giving you fiber to slow down the blood sugar spike). While I agree that your health issues need careful attention eating at all is more important than eating perfectly.

its possible that the prices are so high
because i live in an isolated community
about a 3 hour drive from the nearest big place
and i guess shippings high
and it didnt help that covid defineatly put alot up
its a very underserviced place

todays food--
1 chicken breast cooked 6 hours to make soft
1 raw tomato
water

im not happy with this food plan(im bloody hungry)
hangry as they say
but my mouth still hurts alot
so i wont judge it yet
but id like to really try it
as ive long worried about the salt and sugar and
additives and colours and flavors and preservatives
i was ingesting
i hope its sustainable

yesterdays food
family made carrots broccoli onions sausages
todays food
6 scrambled eggs ham pieces red pepper pieces

todays food-
1 sausage store made(gave away the bun)
2 red peppers cooked in oven til soft
1 green pepper same as above peppers
family made soup

i really dont know why im trying this
other than id like to at least be able
to say im trying
nothing ever results but more weight
if i lose any
which makes me feel stupid
because im still doing it
knowing that
plus it doesnt matter
no one else is ever happy with it
drs usually dont believe that people
can try but with no results
i will keep trying
but its so stressing
it seems like im back to always thinking about food again
at least no binging for awile
but still no weight loss
im so tired and my mouth hurts still
sorry for all the negative

still here
just pretty tired
i was thinking of doing
a 15 minute happy walk but
suddenly crashed into being very tired

food has been--
green peppers
red peppers
onions
chicken breasts
shopped and got some breakfast sausages
and a peameal roast

not sure if this eating plans going to work
its very expensive
and i already have to stop shopping until next month
after just a short time
but i did buy lots so its ok

if i get some energy back tonight
and my feet hurt a little less
i might do a 15 minute happy walk
right now my shoes are leaving marks on my feet
from swelling
and last week my skin was very close to splitting open
it has before but not this summer so far

when your feet are THAT swollen elevating them is the only sensible thing to do. Maybe the happy walk works first thing in the morning instead, assuming your feet are less swollen then. Try to keep drinking plenty of water (unless you have severe kidney issues and the doctor told you otherwise) especially when your legs are swollen.

Hey Blue, it looks to me like your food is improving, good for you! And trying to "happy walk" when you can is great, listen to LaMa though she is an expert on such things.

Do you think you are improving?

Keep up the good work.
