bluehats diary

Agreeing with Cate and Rob - vent away! :) and
heres ok in my diary and with people here
because i choose to
Yes, yes, yes!

I think I get it about your blood pressure - are you saying that the stress of the appointment sends it up higher than it normally would be? I'm glad you've got in touch with one approachable medical worker, anyway - the nurse practitioner. I hope you can get her again, so that someone can get to know you, and see what's most helpful for you (and not ask those same unhelpful questions time and again).

I'm glad you like vegetable soup - you can always add something to it, too, chopped small, the way you like it! :)

Hi, Blue. Life is hard for you I know. It's good that you can vent here & feel comfortable & safe. Hopefully, the new meds will help with your BP. I just don't know enough about diabetes to offer much help re diet. I know that I need to eat protein at each meal to curb my hunger & although I am not diabetic I always have some protein before consuming anything sweet, even fruit.
It is almost impossible not to think about food, but especially being diabetic. I assume the diabetes clinic has given you dietary guidelines. Low GI etc?

yes
so many carb choices
unlimited certain veggies
so many fat choices
so many protein choices
the fruit and milk are lumped in with the so many carb choices

yep
ive been able to make the next appt. with the same person
hopefully since i like this one
my bp wont climb just for the visit

well
up 2 pounds since the new bp pills
i know im not eating too much
so i cant figure what else
i guess i take the early death from
being fat rather than whatever the
lack of bp meds does
theres no win either way really
something gets us

went shopping
bought several cans of vegetables
wow the prices of vegetables geesh
even cans
not sure if i will be able to have any everyday
but i can try
and
since im diabetic i really can only
have certain ones with no needles
and there arent many and none are the
ones i like
so
i guess i have to have some food i hate
just hoping it doesnt backfire and cause
pigouts on yummy food

still trying to get exercise
and noticed tired legs shopping now
so that little i was doing was helping
but i couldnt see where til i had to stop
my 1 leg and foot is still swollen
the NP checked when i saw her and got the
new bp pills
im not sure whether to start any
she never said either way
so i will whenever i get my butt in gear lol
and i believe i get to begin 1400 calories today
i got a weight this morning so i have a weight to see
what it did

:( That's depressing, about the high price of vegetables. Cans are heavy to carry home, too.

Well, at least it's a good thing that you're seeing the same NP next time. Hugs and I hope you get some good news soon.

todays food--
1 .5 cups canned veggies 68 calories
4 pepperettes 130 each
2 cups vanilla soymilk 130 each

That seems so little! But I am too ignorant of anything about nutrition, let alone the food-supply logistics you are trying to juggle, to be able to comment usefully, only to say, sending you all the vibes for good health, and a good day. :hug2:

im at a loss
i know im not eating too much
nor binging
why did the scale go up again 2 pounds?
thats 4 pounds now in a few days?
is it the new bp med?
i dont want to blame that
but i cant see another reason
i made sure my veggies were from
non salt added cans
is this why that dietician i had many years ago
said just eat 1600 and accept the weight it gives me?
she likely knew "dieting" doesnt work
because it doesnt
and the mental anguish is awful too
im ready to throw the scales
except they arent mine
i just have them here for another person
who cant have them at their place

I hope you soon get some really useful help from your medical practitioners. Please be as kind to yorself as you can. If the scales are hurting you, then do something not weight-focussed, like giving yourself a luxurious skin-pampering session. Not necessarily luxurious in the expense of the lotion (even just plain sorbolene cream is good for the skin) and after a calm warm shower or bath, taking the time to massage it into your hands and arms etc is a kind of luxury in itself. :hug2:

I don't know either, but you can be sure you are losing fat. You have to be, not to would be impossible. Your body weight is mostly water, I suspect you have more water in your body now than you did, that's all. The why I am not so sure of. I also know that if you keep to this and keep losing the fat your weight will come down, it has to.

Keep up the good work!

Hi blue, I'm Rob. Wanted to introduce myself and comment on your diary. I'm glad you like this place and find it helpful for venting and just sharing what you're experiencing. It's the same for me and the regulars are great people who just want to support. I don't find I have much time but I have passed by your diary before. You've been here a lot longer than I have and I should've said hi before. Take care and I'll see you again.

todays food--
2 pizza slices
4 fried eggs
3 ounces cheese in the eggs sort of an omelet?
1 cup chocolate almond milk

exercise today--
5 timed minutes walking on spot
yay finally a wee bit of exercise

food for the next 2 days--
4 store bought sandwiches
3 pizza slices
but not sure how to spread it out calorically
(the sandwiches are 610 each)
idk the pizza slice calories

todays food--
it will be a sausage pepperoni soup from family
not sure what any other food will be yet

id sure like to
but i never seem to be able to stick to one
and i cant figure out why
The reason you don't stick to a calorie goal is that you eat more calories than you should. The real question is why. Would it help you to track your calories as you eat so you will know when you are approaching your limit? And for example know that if you eat that whole bowl of soup you will go over? That is kind of how I do it.

Keep on trying, you'll get it!
