Beagle's New Journal

Okay, starting today, I am back on track! Don't have any new years parties or anything to go to so I should be okay.

Tuesday food:
small turkey and stuffing sandwich - 250
bowl of rice - 200
another sandwich - 250

I also haven't been home for the past few days, and won't be until late tonight, so I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning and cross my fingers for not too much weight gain.

Last night I went for a very long walk with FH... think it ended up being nearly two hours, but it was a very leisurely walk... it was just so unseasonally warm out we had to get off our tushes ;) So far as I can tell, it was about 500 calories burned.

Lol, this made me laugh. You know that walk I mentioned going on last night? Me and FH took his dog with us, an adorable mini-schnauzer named Sophie. Anyways, Josh's mom was telling us today after work that Sophie hasn't even attempted to get out of her dogbed today except to eat her food and then go right back to sleep!

Poor little doggie, I thought she was getting pretty tired by the end of the walk since she started out pulling the leash taut the entire way and then by the end she was even listing behind us... I felt a bit bad, but my legs were sore too!

Hey sweetie just wanted to come and say good morning. Looks like you are doing well. Bet the scale will be great to you. Have a great day today sweetie.

that will tell you exactly how much was burned! hope the xmas damage wasnt too bad. :D

Well, I weighed myself this morning, I'm at 194... so one pound gained. More weight gained than I was hoping for, but less than I expected ;)

Also my thighs ache even more today than they did yesterday, even though I was only able to manage 20 minutes of biking last night.

Hey girl you will be ok I gained 7 so dont feel so bad! Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Thursday Food:
baby carrots and lite dip - 150
ham and cheese sandwich - 400
toast - 150

My new years goal is to lose 2 pounds a week. If I can stick to this goal (which seems very managable if only I'd quit half-assing it), by the time May 1 rolls around I'll be 160 lbs!

Hey Beagle! I was just wondering, how do you know the calories of everything? do you use a book, something online??? All I can figure out is what's on the box, but what if I make a sandwich or something, AHHH?!?!? I'm so confused...

There are lots of ways to get the calorie values of what you're eating, including tons of different websites. Personally I use , which rarely let me down. Over the course of the past couple of months I've started gradually memorizing the most common things I eat so I need to refer to it less and less often. Its still good to keep in my bookmarks though ;)

so are you doing a certain amount of calories, or just kinda eating and making sure you don't overdo it? I'm kinda interested in what other people are doing... :)

Oh man its been too long since I was on this site... I haven't been good the past few days :( Lets try starting over.

Jess: I have a personal goal of around 1300 calories a day, but I have a "grace amount" of up to 1500 before I start feeling bad about it. I also work out every now and again. Supposed to be at least 3 times a week, but lately its only been twice. *sigh*

Anyways, Monday food (rounding up because I don't feel like looking up exact numbers today):
bowl of cornpops - 200
couple of pizza pops - 500
couple of rice krispie squares - 200
6" chicken parmigan sub - 400
bottle of ice tea - 200
Total - 1500

I'm actually pleasantly surprised because it felt like I was eating all damn day, but I guess I didn't do that badly.

Tuesday food:
rice krispie square - 90
roast beef and cheese sandwich - 400
chicken breast and salad - 300
bag of doritos - 410 (vending machine dinner)
Half a small (10") pizza - 400
Total - 1600

My next semester starts in just 6 days!! I've got Intro Swedish 2, Socialization, Sociological Imagination, Social Methodology, and Media Culture and Society... they are all relatively small classes so I think I can expect a lot fo papers to write :( Unlike last semester which was all huge lecture classes that only had the midterms and finals to write (most of which were multiple choice). Also, I want to beat up the registrar's office for not posting my grades yet! I'm still missing two grades! Grr! I'm eligible for tuition reimbursement through work, but I can't get my money until I submit my grades. $2500 is a lot of money for me, and I would very much like to get it as soon as possible.

Also, aww crap, I gained another pound :( Good thing I'm counting my weekly weightloss goal from this week forward.

I got one more mark back today. Looks like I have two B's and a B- so far. Just waiting on one more grade and then I can submit my reimbursement request.

I'm a little worried about starting classes again- I get stressed out between school and work and end up eating a bazillion calories, lol... good luck to you!!

Thursday food:
Bowl of cereal - 200
Chicken sub from Quizno's - 500 (estimation)
Broccoli soup - 300

I think tonight or tomorrow night I need to take some sort of sleep aid to make sure I can get back into a proper sleep schedule for school. The last three nights I've stayed up until at least 4:00am, only to sleep until 1 or 2 the next afternoon. I naturally gravitate towards night-time schedules it seems, and I find the night is when I get my best work done. Unfortunately, its difficult to get a schedule at school that would suit this pattern, so I need to go back to getting up at 7am and going to bed by midnight at the latest.

I just made myself a daily schedule to tape up to my desk right next to my monitor so that I can remember to do my exercising which is definitely my weak spot right now! I've assigned myself an hour of exercise five days a week. Unfortunately, because of my school and work schedule they can't all be at the same time each day, but I managed to get it semi-regular at least.

Monday, Friday and Sunday will be from 4-5, which is after school on Monday and Friday, and then just before dinner on Sunday. Tuesdays and Thursdays I'll exercise after I get home from work, about midnight-1am, getting myself good and tired for bed.

Last week I ordered one of those ab-roller things off the internet to help with my situps, since I seem to have a weak back so I need some extra support. Can't do more than maybe 30 situps at a time before my upper back hurts too much (and yeah, I've checked that I'm doing them right). So I'll probably do a regular 45 minutes biking, and then 15 doing situps.

Hey Beagle. sounds like your right on track with your schedule idea! :) I bet it'll keep you going just as you hope. You're doing really great. I know its so difficult with such a hectic schedule to keep exercise and eating right all on the same page. Trust me, I'm not as busy as you and I certainly struggle !! :) So keep up the great work!! :)
