AussieGirl's Diary

I lost another lb this week!! I don't even care that it's just 1 a week, as long as it's something!!! I didn't get to the gym yesturday because someone came by, and to be honest I'd drop my entire life for him, so I missed my gym window. But I didn't think I'd get there today, and it looks like I have 2 hours between work and when I'm supppose to meet my sister, so I'll take a shortened gym break then. It's better than nothing right!!

April 21

Had a super quick gym today.
33 min eliptical = 406 cals

Thats it...no time today, but HAD to squeeze SOMETHING in!

Hey congrats on losing another pound. There is nothing wrong with losing 1 a week thats for sure, far beter then gaining one a week. It is something to be proud of, and no doubt with the exercising you are putting in you will be toning up as well. I must say I am really impressed with your time on the eliptical trainer. I know how hard those are. After the school holidays are over and my daughter is back at school, I am joining this new gym that has opened around the corner, curves. Am looking forward to that, so soon I will be trying to give that eliptical trainer a go as well. Though I doubt I will last as long as you do on it lol.

April 22

Thanks so much for that Zoila! You know I often feel like I just don't push myself enough, but then with my time restraignts I just can't keep going. I need to get on to the next thing on my daily to do list. I can't imagine how you Mothers feel!!! Today's excerise goes like this...
35 min eliptical = 390 cals
15 min bike = 105 cals
15 min treadmill = 109 cals

So obviously I didn't meet my cardio goal for this week, so perhaps if I meet it this coming week I'll lose 2 lbs!!!

April 24

It's been a long tiring day!! I feel totally exhausted!!! This is my day, after work I took my baby niece (she'll be 2 years in June) to her first swim class. Obviously I had to go in the water with her and help her a little. From there I went and grabbed a Jr Whopper combo!! :( The majority of it I didn't consume however! Then I headed to the gym and got in...

40 min eliptical = 446 cal
6 min stairmaster = 56 cal

I know that probably sounds funny, 6 min on the stairmaster, but I'm trying to work my way up to, well for now 10 minutes would do. That's it, I just decided my newest goal is to get up to 10 minutes on that thing! I see a few ladies who use the stairmaster and I've NEVER seen women so powerful before...I want to be one of them. I don't know if powerful is the right word, but if you've ever seen someone spend 30 or more on one of them you know what I'm talking about!

That's it for today, I wont get to the gym tomorrow because of work, but I'm back Wednesday RIGHT after work!!

Good luck everyone!!!;)

You will do it in no time, then you will have to change your name to Powergirl lol. Just keep adding a couple of mins at a time and you will have your time up before you know it. If you can do the elipical trainer you can do that. I always prefered the stairmaster to the trainer to tell you the truth. I guess it comes down to personal preference.

Did you enjoy the swiming with your neice, I have been thinking of puting my son in swiming he was 2 in Dec just gone. But wasnt sure how much they actualy got out of it at this age.

I need to make a cardio goal I think... you guys that are doing that ll have the right idea :) On days when you can't get in an much cardio as usual, ya should try starting out at the level your used to, and every few minutes punch it up as far as your able to- I start at level 7, and every four or five minutes will go to level 20. I feel like I'm running thru cement, but it helps burn extra calories, and its gets ya sweating!!
Have a great day tomorrow !

April 26

WOW I was so surprised to see so many responses to my last entry!! Thanks so much ladies!! I especially like the idea of hiking up the level that I'm on!! What an awsome idea. To be honest, I TOTALLY HATE that during peak times at my gym you're limited to 20 minutes per machine! It totally messes with me, but I reckon if I had been hiking up the level, it wouldn't have made such an impact on my calories! Zoila, I have to tell you, I think that putting kids in swimming is one of the best things we can put them in, especially at that young age. It really helps them overcome the fear of water, gets them interacting with us AND their peers, and well it's just plan fun. We missed the first 2 classes, and boy is it noticeable. If you can, I suggest putting your little gaffer in a class, if I ever have kids of my own, I'm DEFINATLY putting them in! Anyway, here's my cardio day...

7 minutes stairmaster = 35 cals
20 minutes eliptical = 240 cals
10 minutes eliptical = 120 cals

I know this looks funny, because like I wrote on top, machines are limited to 20 minutes during peak, and I usually go later in the day, anyway, I snuck onto 2 different elipticals!!:p I know my cals weren't the best, I think I'm just plan old tired these days!

lol... sneaking onto different machines?? man, at my gym, ya do that, ya got people screaming at ya, haha.
I love swimming, and I hafta agree, get kids into as soon as possible, it DOES make a big difference:)

Aussie, you endurence is great. Have you considered doing some weighted, machine or bodyweight exerciess in addition to your cardio sessions?

Lol At Sneaking On Different Machines Your Doing Great Keep Up The Good Work!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 27

Hey you guys!!!
Thanks so much for all the feedback! It's awsome!! Thanks for the suggestion Jaho, it's good because I do let my weight training go off to the side some days, lets be honest more days than I should! I guess because I focus so much on the cardio, I do weights (almost NEVER free weights though!:) ), but I don't keep track of it (I NEVER write it down!) , I guess if I did, I'd be a little more evened out! Thanks for the reminder!! I reckon I needed it!! Anyway, this is my daily cardio...

8 minutes stairmaster = 46 cals
40 minutes eliptical = 460 cals

I think because I'm doing the stairmaster, I'm not using the bike and treadmill, the stairmaster KILLS me!! I don't think the goal will be reached this week! I gotta plug away!!

April 28

It was a good active day today. Usually I don't count things like yard work and walks, but I just have to say that I spent over 2 hours rakeing and picking up leaves and branches in the yard...it felt good. I really want to plant some flowers in the front yard this year if I can get a proper garden area! Anyway, as far as my actual cardio work out, here it is...

40 minutes eliptical = 480 cals
9 minutes stairmaster = 75 cals

I realize my cardio is real low right now, but I'm more focused on the stairmaster this week. Tomorrow the goal is 10 minutes!! The reason I'm more focused on it is because I was watching "X-Weighted" and the trainer said to the girls that he didn't like the eliptical because it wasn't a motion that our bodies do naturally. I thought about that, and think it's smart, not to mention I find that on the treadmill my ankles end up killing me after just 15 minutes, but so far (except for day 1 :D ) they don't hurt at all. Anyway, I'm keeping at it, and that's the main thing!

I need to start doing the stairstepper to, but it kicks my butt!! Guess thats all the more reason to go to it :) Have a great weekend, and hope ya master the stepper!

I haven't had a chance to write and update my my cardio achievement on Saturday so here it is, without calories burned however...
10 minutes stairmaster :D :D :D
40 minutes eliptical

My goal this week is to keep going 10 minutes on the stairmaster every day, but up the speed!

May 1

I DID IT AGAIN!!!! :D I'm so happy!!!:D In a month I want to be a pro at that stairmaster!!!! I know it seems like the time that I'm spending doing cardio is not as much as it was a couple weeks ago, but I swear, I get HEAPS more out of doing that stairmaster for 10 minutes instead of the bike or the treadmill for 15, I'm totally drenched after 10 minutes!! So here it is again...
35 minutes epiptical = 402 cals
10 minutes stairmaster = 96 cals

I know it seems low, but I think it might be higher than that. Anyway, my food has been just HORRIBLE lately, and I decided that I HAVE to stop eating sugar again, yesturday I had Mackers :( but no chocolate or anything like that, so that was good. Today I have had NOTHING of the sort! I've had...
Breakfast
2 pc ww toast w/ no sugar added jam
Diner
ww pasta w/ tomato sauce (no cheese!! )
1 raw sweet red pepper
6 spoonfuls of yougart
Now I'm going downstairs and eating
1 pickle

As you can see the calories definatly aren't counted, but that's the food for the day.

You can totally become a pro at the stairmaster :) At the gym where I work, I seriously see people on there for an hour or so on end, at a fairly good pace:eek: it kills me!! I get tired just WATCHING them, lol...
keep up the good work on your cardio, looks great!

May 3

Hey Jess393, thanks for that incouragement, you know I'm starting to feel like I could go longer on it, but then once the time is up, I just get off. I probably should just start it again, until I'm COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED!!! :D

I had to work last night so I didn't get to the gym, but I did just get back now, so here it is...
35 min eliptical = 450 cal
10 min stairmaster = 90 cal

This must seem so repetitive, but I'm loving it, and I like the idea of sticking to what I like, that is until I'm bord of it ;) I almost didn't go today, I fell asleep on the couch right after work and woke up just after 7 pm. I still dragged my ass out the door, and now I feel so good about it!!

Thats not repetitive- I do the same cardio everynight to... Altho- thank you for the idea- last night I FINALLY did something other than the eliptical...I did some time on the crossramp thingy(cross between elliptical and stepper) and only did I think five minutes, holy hunnies, that was rough, lol, and then did some treadmill, but I hate the treadmill, so I don't think I'll do that anymore
I'm the same way- don't wanna GO to the gym, but once I'm there I'm completely happy, weird how that happens, hmm. anyways, have a great day :)!
