Kathy... congrats on your weight loss. Fifty pounds-- wow, that's amazing!!! I'm glad to hear your weight never went up. I'm so afraid of fluctuations!!! As long as the scale's moving in the right direction, I'm super motivated and energized. Don't want to lose my steam...

Easy... I wasn't working out before, so I can't really answer that question. In general, I'm feeling pretty good so far. The hardest part for me has been the caffeine withdrawal (I don't drink coffee, tea, or diet soda. Going off the Dr. Pepper was a little rough). Aside from that, I have no complaints. I don't think my energy levels have suffered too much.

Thanks BabyFatNoMore. I still have a lot more weight to lose, so I hope I can reach my goal by the end of this 12 week session.

Easy - regarding exercise, I don't exercise which is one of the things that drew me to this diet, but I believe there are others who do. You definitely want to mention it to the Cohen people. I think some people may have cut down, but definitely email them as I believe they may instruct you to eat a fruit before you exericse.
Also regarding the bloodwork....I'm not sure how much it will cost if you go on your own, but Cohen's has a negotiated price of $35.00 with Direct Labs. I believe they have a link to their site on the 1stPersonalDiet site. My area does walkins so I just go and get it done, it's very quick and easy and I have to say the girl that draws the blood gets it done on the first shot, which I really appreciate!!! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

Guess Who's Back

Hi guys -

It's been weeks since I've visited the site. At week 4 I had lost 15 pounds, took my blood test and was told to continue without any adjustments to my prescribed plan. I'm into the middle of week 6 and am hovering around 174lbs. I did have a few days during week 5 (Easter weekend) where I fell off the wagon but I'm back on track. I have 6 and a half weeks to go and hope I can lose at least 20 pound over the next 6 weeks or I'll be purchasing additional time.

easyelvis - welcome and congratulations! You will love the rapid results. It take some time getting into the "groove" of the program but once you have it down it's a breeze. There are a ton of great folks in this forum. Feel free to post away! Someone is always around. I'll keep an eye out for you.

BabyFatNoMore - GOOD FOR YOU!!!! My son is almost 3 and I had to take the same inventory of myself. I've lost 15 pounds and my husband is loving the difference already. I really feel good. I'll keep an eye out for you.

39 days down....52 to go!!! One meal at a time....

Hang in there guys.

B

Bubblinb,

Good to hear you're doing well. 15 lbs is great, I think you'll have no problem with the remaining 20! Keep up the good work.

I had to buy an additional 12 weeks as I have just over a 100 lbs to lose, but as of today, I'm half way there!!

Yeah for all of us!

Totally new to this whole 1st personal diet please advise

Totally new to this whole 1st personal diet. can anyone tell me how to go about starting the plan? i sent them a form about how i want join but i have not heard anything, I am ready to get my blood tests ASAP but I have not gotten the ok from Dr, Cohen. I heard about it from the a Lisa Reemi and i totally want to join. can anyone suggest anything to me in terms of taking the next step to loosing this weight?

Please help me!!

Hi Meghan. Take a deep breath. You're almost there! Just wait to get the okay and the request for payment... then you'll get you're blood work order and soon you'll have your diet. The waiting really is soooooo agonizing, isn't it?

If you want to start eating more "Cohenish" while you're waiting, I would recommend cutting down on your sugar, flour, bread, rice, pasta, and pastries. Eat more veggies... drink more water.... if you want to prepare. I have to admit, I went the opposite direction. I ate everything I wanted to eat, drank everything I wanted to drink. Sure, I gained two pounds, but I also got it out of my system. I guess you should do what works best for you. I seem to be a cold turkey kind of gal! I'm not able to ease gradually in to things.

Good luck... and happy waiting!

BabyFatNoMore,

I did exactly the same thing, which I dubbed my "good-bye to food tour". I had all my last meals that I wanted because, I too, go cold turkey into things. Did the same thing when I quit smoking many years ago!

MeghanFit,

How long ago did you register on-line? Make sure you check your spam/bulk folder because sometimes the emails go in there until you add the address to your address book. If you feel it's been to long, maybe send them an email just to make sure they received it. You never know if there was a glitch somewhere and it did go through. I hope it did and you hear from them soon!

Keep us posted!

hello everyone

Hello every one, I've been trying hard to lose weight since the birth of my son almost 3 years ago. I've tried every thing from informartial exercise plans to any new diet book that is on the top sellers list. I even enrolled in LA weight loss system. Never the less I've never been successful. I am 5'4 and weigh 160lbs at my heaviest I weighed 167lbs. I did the calculation on the Aussie site and it estimated that my goal weight should be 120 - 126. It's actually the goal I set for my self.
I read that Leigh lost 80 pounds on this diet and started doing research. I signed up for it on Tuesday and received approval for it today. I purchased it today and can't wait for the blood test and hopefully beginning this diet next week. I read that exercise is not necessary but in my line of work I can not help it. I am in the army and have to exercise 5 days a week. Obviously I am no athlete but I hope that this does not hinder my progress. Anyone exercising moderately while on this plan? Secondly what are some of "yaws" tips on sticking to the plan? I wish every one luck and I am motivated on all of your success.:)

Hi Everyone!

Hi neighbours to the south!;)
Willing to accept a Canadian into your group? I've been on the Australian thread for about 8 weeks know. They are great over there, but sometimes I feel like such an outsider and feel I can't get the support. Anyways, before starting Cohens I was reading the posts on E-diets, but that closed down and then I started reading the denise boardwhich seemed to have everyone from ediets on it, but the posts had seemed to end back in March whenver I googled it. Anyways-New group of people and there's a nice group here who are at various stages of the diet, and we can all help each other out-not to mention that we are all doing this minus a clinic.
Easyelvis, I replied to your post in the Aussie thread about exercising--don't stop if you are consistently doing it. If however you find you don't have the energy or it really makes you hungry then I would just slow it down. Instead of running on the treadmill I do an hour power walk-set to 2.4-2.6 (speed) but I elevate the treadmill to 10 the highest being 15. Great workout, then just adjust the elevation if you get really tired. I usually burn about 400calories in that hour. I just make sure I exercise between meals so I'm having my dinner after working out.:) Also, are you getting married in Italy? I thought you were just going for honeymoon? Are you Italian. I am, and Easter was a pain. My husband who also started the diet 3 weeks ago and I bring our food everywhere we go, so be prepared for the questions and why don't you just eat a little bit of pasta!?
I look forward to hearing from everyone on this thread, and will now make this the first thread I read and reply too>
P.S. I can't stop eating the tiniest bites of chocolate:eek: :( They are my weekness. I had given it up for lent which was when I started the diet, but now that I'm seeing results, you are always saying to yourself, well one bite isn't going to hurt-the scales keep coming down so I can't be doing too bad. Honestly besides the one little bite here and there, I haven't had a major deviation, but I know I have to stop
Ciao ladies and gents

The first week is the hardest!

After the first week you'll be sailing! You're going to love this. Get a great kitchen scale_DIGITAL! Walmart has them fairly cheap. The exercising will probably help you lose the weight faster, but just take it easy, you will probably have a little less energy.

xplorer2000 - Welcome to the boards!!! I dont' exercise at all and hate it so that is what drew me to this plan. Obviously, I plan on doing something when I reach my goal and actually when the weather gets better, I'm hoping to walk my dog and swim in my pool to get started. I don't want to work this hard and end up where I was before. Make sure you email Cohen's about working out to get some tips from them on how to deal w/lesser food, while still exercising 5 days a week. I've been on this diet for about 12.5 weeks and can tell you that I haven't cheated once! I'm the type that can't have just one, so I'm afraid I would ruin everything I worked so hard for.

I would recommend that you get a binder so you can put your diet and recipes in when you receive your plan from Cohen's. I also keep all of my emails so I can refer back in case I need to.

Good luck!

YM2B,

Of course you're welcome here!!! :)

Here is the link for the Denise board in case you want to check in there, as well. I like to keep up on both boards.

Thank you so much Yummymummy. I am so excited and cant wait till I start this diet. I am going to check in regularly for support. How long did it take you to lose 26lbs? You go girl!! You are almost at your goal weight!

Calories

How many calories on average does this plan have? Can't find the information on the site and I don't feel comfortable going less than 1200 per day to avoid binging behavior later on. Thanks!!

Kathy, thanks for the tips, I'll get the binder, I also bought the digital scale. Do you cook with salt or do you have to aviod salt and use herbs only? :)

Hi xplorer2000, be prepared for a tough first week, especially if you're a binge eater at night, like I was. 10pm would role around(night owl) and I just wanted to get up and eat something. Anyways I lost 11lbs the first week(mind you when I weighed myself the first day of Cohens I was PMSing so I figure I had about 2 extra lbs. But it has taken me exactly 8 weeks to lose 26lbs. Remember to drink your water.

For everyone else just starting, I printed off a sheet with a 7 day journal. Something like this and just printed off 12 sheets for 12 weeks.
Week___ Date:______
Weight____

Day 1
Meal 1__________
Snack____
Meal 2___ Leave enough space and room to journal your meals
Snack_____
Meal 3_____
Fruit #__lll__Cracker#__llllll (just tick off when you have a fruit or cracker)

Day 2 (repeat to day 7 with a space for notes) If you have Feta I mark that in Red to let me know I had my weeks allowance. Leave a space at the bottom for some notes or favorite recipes. I did 2 columns. 1st coloum goes to Day 4, second coloum 5-7 with Notes below that.

I know we're not to weigh ourselves every day/week etc, only weigh once a month, but I like to see my results weekly. I seem to be having a 2lb weight loss a week.

This meal journal is a great help especially when you are really busy through out the day. So if I have Meal 3 at lunch instead of at dinner time, I fill in Meal 3 and then when supper roles around I know which meal plan I should be looking at. Trust me, there are days I'm glad I have my food journal to remind me what I ate and how much of it. I have a couple of weight options for eg. chicken in one meal plan, and then another couple of weight options of chicken in another. It's a wonderful habit to get into, and I may even use it after Cohens just to keep that control in my life. So if I happen to gain any weight after Cohens(I pray that I don't) but it's possible, I can see where and why I gained those 4lbs for example.

Happy weighing (food that is!);)
Joanne

Someone on another thread said their calories added up to 600, but it's individual to your plan. My hubby is on the same diet and his portions are larger than mine and his choices are more limited. I feel absolutely wonderful and if anything I feel I have more energy now than I did before. Don't get me wrong you will have a couple days here and there where you are wiped, but don't worry about the calories. It really is a balanced nutritious diet. We are actually eating portions of protein we're suppossed to. It really does measure out to the size of your palm. Hope that helps.

qwerty (cute name, btw-- took me a minute to figure it out!)--

Since this is a weight-based diet, I don't have a clue how many calories I'm eating, but I'm sure it's very low. After all, aproximately half of my food intake is veggies, and veggies cooked w/out oil or butter have to be low cal. I know the theories about starvation mode, etc., but you really are eating balanced meals. Each day I have lean protein, veggies, crackers, fruit, and cheese. No food group (except fat!) has been completely eliminated. Believe it or not, I actually feel very full after some of my meals. Yes, I feel hungry after some, too, but it's all in the food choices. And there's always the option of snacking between meals on crackers and fruit. Bottom line for me: I feel I'm getting enough food and I'm losing weight. I couldn't be happier so far.

Joanne, thanks for sharing your journal info! That's so helpful. I have been having trouble remembering which meal I've eaten.
