Just think - this time next year we should all be slim, healthy & happy!
Here's to that-cheers! (says Cate holding her glass of water up!)xo Cate

Hi Ladies,

I buy the fresh ricotta from the deli (not a big fan of the ones you buy in tubs from the supermarket) I love eating it on my crackers (2 salada crackers - 4 pieces, salada is like saltines) I spray the ricotta with a little olive oil and put lots of cracked pepper on it and finely sliced fresh tomato (allowance) I then make myself a salad or sometimes just have cucumber/celery sticks. I find it very filling but like I said I only have this once - twice a week. With some cheeses (cottage, low fat philly etc ) sometimes you just need to kill the taste so just add cracked pepper or other herbs to it or have it with tomato, cooked mushroom, spinach etc

You can also try some cheesy vegetable bakes, cooked vegies of your choice topped with ricotta baked in oven.
Hope that helps, try cutting down on the cheese for a week or two and see if it makes a difference.

Misty so good to hear the cravings have gone, it gets so much easier. Big congrats on the pants feeling looser, it so just wants to make you keep going and going when you start seeing and feeling results.

Have a great Sunday and Mothers Day.

Annie Lusion

Hello Everyone,
Annie, Thanks for the ricotta tips, I didn't even know they sold it in the deli.
Misty, Great to here your doing well. Love that you could get into those pants
Cate and Kathy, I hope you had a nice mother's day.

I will be starting week 4 tomorrow! The time is flying by. I am sooooo thirsty the last couple days, when I wake up my mouth is practically stuck closed. (Which some people would think is a good thing) I have increased my water intake by 2 cups or so, I hope that works because I don't think I could fit another drop of water.

I hope everyone is well.

Hey, Lori. Looks like your weight loss has kicked into gear-- congrats. I, on the other hand, deviated over Mother's Day weekend. I'm so disgusted with myself, and I gained some weight. Trying not to beat myself up, but it's easier said than done. Hopefully I can get the weight going in the right direction again soon....

Hi! This is my first time on the site and I just started the Cohen diet a few days ago. I did great the first 3-4 days, but am finding the last couple of days harder. All of your comments are encouraging. I do have a couple of questions. I'm not a big vegi person and am finding it hard to each them with every meal. If I understand correctly, I can't just skip the vegies, but have to each the entire amount prescribed. I think this is going to be my problem because of my allowed vegetables, I only like a couple (zuchini, squash, celery with tuna, and sometimes spinach). Also, everyone talks about paying for the next 12 weeks if they don't reach their goal weight. Is that just to get the re-feeding program? I don't see any other reason if the diet is working and you can just use the same plan on your own to keep losing weight. I'm doing it thru the internet, so there's basically no week to week support.
Thanks. Any suggestions appreciated. Look forwarded to talking with you all.

Welcome Want2diet!!

I've been on the diet for about 16.5 weeks and had the hardest time w/veggies. They killed my stomach - I think my body rejected them. :) I even emailed Cohen's about cutting down on them, but they just reiterated how vital they are to our weight loss. They did say that if I needed to eat more tomatoes, to do so, so I didn't omit veggies from my plan. I'm fine eating the veggies in soups, but on their own, gave me problems. I now eat tomatoes, but w/my mayo allowance. Good Luck, I know exactly what you're going thru!

I didn't reach my goal in the first 12 weeks, so I had to buy another 12 weeks to keep w/the plan. I believe you must be w/in 5 lbs of your goal for Cohen's to give you the refeed plan, but I'm not sure if anyone else ever got it sooner?? They didn't change my plan for the 2nd set of weeks and it's similar to the first where you get your blood drawn at the beginning, then at the 4 week mark for them to see your progress.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I finally broke the 60lb mark and am currently at 63.6 lbs! I'm still in shock by the success of the plan and am so motivated to get to refeed.

Have a great day!

60 lbs. That's so great!! That's about what I want to lose. I'm going to have to go back and look at my paperwork, because I don't even remember them giving me a goal weight. Anyway, thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll try to make some kind of soup.

I am wondering why everyone has found this diet easier to stick to than all the other ones without cheating? I guess I've heard that it's black and white and simple. Also, the weight certainly does come off fast. I'm just trying to stay positive that I can do this for 3 or 4 months.

Thanks for all the help.

You can definitely do this, believe me! Just read all of the posts and how successful people have been on this program. For me, I liked the fact that I could see an end - 12 weeks. I needed to lose over 100lbs, so 12 weeks wouldn't be enough. I just liked that there was an end in site. WW is advertised as a life-long commitment and I looked into LA Weight Loss which you had to buy over a years worth of weeks. I know that this is a Life Change, but for the weight to come off, there was a shorter time frame than the other diets, I've done. Who knows, maybe it was just finally the right time for me, but definitely don't deviate - stay strong and utilize all the people on these boards, they're very supportive and offer great support!

Good Luck!

want2diet,
Welcome aboard. I have been on this diet for almost 4 weeks and find it fairly easy to stick with because for some reason the food keeps me satisfied and feeling very minimal cravings. The cravings I have had have not been physical they have been emotional ( I see a cookie, I want a cookie :( ) As far as the veggies I have broadened my intake just out of necessity but it isn't to hard.
Try chopping up mushrooms and tomatoes and adding them to an egg and half a shell of water, for breakfast, with some onion powder. yum
I now eat asparagus (I like it baked), and find chopped up cabbage very tasty. I often stir fry onions, squash ,zucchini, cabbage, among other things, at the end I add a bit of diet coke, I let the coke cook off then add my meat, it's pretty good. Worth a try.
I still can't get myself past the yogurt and cottage cheese.
You can do this. Good luck.

Misty... Look forward, don't look back, whats done is done. Your weight is going to drop, stay positive.
Jeremy... Hello and welcome.
Kathy...you did it! You must feel awesome. 63.6 lbs is a big accomplishment. You are an inspiration, look at how quickly you have done this. I am awe stuck. good job.

Thanks everyone. You're right, I think if there's one of the vegetables I can learn to eat, it would be the asparagus. I like to stir-fry beef and green peppers also, and have been eating a lot of zuchini. I've never been a big salad person, especially without ranch dressing. Any good ideas on dressing? I don't really like mushrooms and tomatoes, but I think I might be able to eat them in an egg.

I'm really nervous because I just got a new job and I start in 2 weeks. I have to be out of town with my boss for 4 days, and in my business, everyone always takes us out to eat when we're out of town. Not sure how I'm going to explain this to a brand new boss. Lunch and dinner are going to be really hard. I just didn't want to put off starting for 3 weeks.

Thanks for the ideas and all of the support. All advice is appreciated!

Want2diet... If you like mashed potatoes, definitely try cauliflower. I like to boil my allowance of cauliflower, mash it up, and add my cheese allowance, garlic salt, and pepper. I top it with crushed crackers and bake until the cheese is brownish. Yummy! Almost tastes like twice baked potatoes.

Another good recipe I found on the Cohens board is tuna mornay, where you boil and mash cauliflower and mix in crushed crackers and tuna. Shape it into patties and pan fry. Very tasty and you can't even tell you're eating veggies.

I love cabbage, so I like to slice it very thin and cook w/ sliced onions. Just lightly spray a pan w/ cooking spray and add the veggies. When the cabbage has wilted, I add steak or chicken. I sometimes add Diet Sprite for a touch of sweetness. Very good.

As for salad, you can't beat a Greek-style salad w/ feta cheese. I just top mine w/ balsamic vinegar and a touch of lemon.

Welcome aboard.

You should just pick things off the menu that you can eat and if anyone asks questions tell them you are on a special medical program. You won't be telling a lie but you don't really have to go into details. And if you were diabetic or coeliac or something like that you would be limited in what you could eat anyway. That is how I got throught it over the first few weeks. I kept telling myself it could be worse, it could be a disease for life whereas it was only for a few months of my life to improve my life. If you need to have a drink have a soda water and put it in a wine glass (the mind is an amazing tool).

Anyway good luck and think positive.

Skinny hugs

Allana

I agree with ata
Want2diet even though I eat most of the vegies on the list I find that I have stuck to the same ones nearly the entire time. Sauted spinich leaves, or mushrooms, or cauliflower or cabbage. For the last two weeks I have had beef and cabbage everynight with a spinkle of curry powder and two sweetners in a bit of liquid to make it interesting. My lunch have been either steamed cauliflower with mozzeralla or chicken and cauliflower sauted in the wok and a bit of coke zero to add a caramel taste. I suggest you find a handful of meals you know you will eat and master them adding or subtracting the dried herbs to alter the taste. Beef, spinich and bit of fresh chilli is another goodie that is quick and easy in the wok. Add garlic powder to your liking and its that easy. I stuck with this meal 3 for over two weeks!! It sounds so stupid because I normally have a sense of adventure with my food but I runied a coulple of meals on the plan and said to myself stuff that - every meal is precious to me so I am playing it very safe.
Anyway that is my two cents worth - hope it helps.

PS if you have tofu as an option don't go there.....its scary!!!!

Good Morning,

Ata...Look at you, what a success story, you have lost over 100 lbs in 7 months. That is incredible. How is your refeed going and how do you feel about it...nervous...excited...?

Snakesalive...you are right behind Ata, almost ready for refeed. Awesome.

I still can't figure out how to get my ticker thing over here. What's the secret?
