Cohen's Lifestyle Anyone from the United States?

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
LAM (lori)
Thanks. The refeeding is going good although some times I am struggling to eat all the stuff. I travel a lot with work and find this part of it a lot more effort than the regular program. I am glad I am nearly finished. I was preparing meals until 11:30pm the other night before I went away. Anyway it is all worth it.
Keep up the good work. It will be over before you know it then you will be out in the big wide world all on your own...

Hey, where is everyone? There hasn't been any action here in a long time.

Anyone Out There?

It's been about 9 months since I've visited the forum. I started Cohen's back in March 07 but stopped due to some health issues. I'm back now and preparing to restart the program.

Anyone out there from the US? Anyone made any progress? Finished? Restarting? Maintaining? Struggling? Got any tips? Need help? Need motivation or support?

Just wanted to resurrect the US forum.n Let me know if anyone is out there from the states.

We're losing the weight in 08!!!

bubblinb- There hasn't been anyone in here from the US for ages! I, for one enjoyed the US connection & miss some of the US Cohenites. Join in anyway, regardless of the Aus content. We're all in the same boat, have the same aims & the Australian consultants are great with feed-back & support which we are happy to share. Cheers, Cate.

Hey Bubblinb! I still lurk around every so often! I did reach goal and finished refeed on Oct. 31st, but then celebrated a bit too much and am back on plan as of yesterday. I knew I wanted to enjoy the Holidays which for me began on Halloween and went till New Years Day!! I lost 111 lbs before the Holidays did me in, but now I need to lose about 19 to get back there and then I'll re-do refeed. I'm already down 4.2 lbs from yesterday and I'm sure a lot has to do w/the Chinese food I ate on New Years Eve and then the leftovers on NY's day! I was very bad in not having all of my water and I was off for the week after Christmas so even though I'm not fond of my job, it helps keep me on a good schedule. So back on plan and looking forward to losing again! Just thankfully I'm not starting from 111 lbs up! Now that I know this feeling, I don't ever want to go back!

So, Happy New Year to you and all of our friends on Cohen's no matter where we are in the World!!!

hey guys! I have posted in here before....was going to restart Cohens...but had too much going on ( i seem to be making excuses) I have moved here from Australia, and was just wondering what crackers, cheese and yoghurt u guys use here in the US, as i have had alot of trouble finding what I normally use.

Any input would be great

Hi Kelli,

Welcome and good luck!

The crackers that I eat are Saltines (Nabisco) and per Cohens every 2 Saltines equal 1 cracker serving on plan, so if you can have 6 crackers a day, then you can eat 12 Saltines a day, just in increments of 4 Saltines at a time.

For cheese - I'm very plain and pretty much eat the same thing - Hood low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese, I prefer the low-fat as it doesn't seem as watery as the fat-free, just my opinion. If I do want something different then we can have Philadelphia Cream Cheese, but it has to be fat-free.

I don't eat yogurt, so I'm unable to help you there, sorry!

There is another support site that I utilize that has a lot of US residents on it where they may be able to help you with other products that they use and like. Please know that I am not trying to lure you away from this site, just trying to give you another resource to use for support and information. I think any support we can get on this plan is great!!! I know I've learned a lot from both boards!

You're right. We're all headed towards the same goal. I'll check the I often look around in the other threads but there are SO MANY of them. SO many people have seen so much success!! I'm happy for them and it keeps me motivated.

Happy New Year!!!

Hi Kelli

I normally use yoplait plan non-fat yogurt. They have them in the 6oz cups which make it easy to add fruit and splenda.

Good luck!

trying to get back on wagon

I began Cohens in Oct 2006 and lost 64 lbs in 5 months. I never did my refeed and got to withing 17 lbs of goal. Then I joined the gym last April and have been regularly exercising. This is not allowed with Cohen and I see why I suppose. You get SO HUNGRY. My pilates teacher really questions this plan as it seems like starvation. I have now put on 20 lbs and feel so bad. I am more tone from the exercising. Very confused now and want to jump back on. I'll go on for a week and lose 4-8 lbs then flip flop back again. Any advice??

is anyone having success?

i am brand new and looking for answers, of course-
is anyone here doing the US internet version and are they finding the promised results?
i have sent in my application and am awaiting more information.

i have lost a large amount of weight (75 lbs) in 100 days before. i did NOT refeed properly and here i am with all of it to lose again. i see 'cohen' people who have done the same (i did lighter life in the UK). i like the look of cohen as it is REAL food and pretty inexpensive, etc.

can anyone help me here?

best to all-

I'm back

Hi All,

I am the original starter of this thread. A little over a year ago I began the Cohen diet. I was on it "officially" from February thru March of 2007. In the 6 weeks that I did it religiously I lost 23 pounds and a ton of inches.

I had experienced a couple of emotional setbecks but I tried to continue with portions as best I could thru the beginning of the summer and still looked good. I was exercising regularly thru the program and my "prescription" reflected that as I told them at the beginning.

In July I got a new job that required me to do a lot of traveling and completely stop exercising. As you can imagine, the weight started to creep back on. It's been nine months since I've worked out and now I am 3 lbs shy of my original starting weight but so much bigger since I lost all muscle tone.

Frustration doesn't even begin to describe my emotions right now. The plan has been taped up on my cabinet since I started it last year. Do you think I could just as easily start it up again? Nope. what a loser I am.

Anyway, I am going to start up again - trying to make today my first day back. I have my 20 year HS reunion in May and I want to be down at least 20 pounds for it. But, I'm having a hard time even getting motivated to "officially" start. I'm also "competing" with a friend of mine in hopes that my competitive nature will kick in.

I don't have a lot of time to write more at this time, but will try to get on every evening as I found last year that the boards really helped.

I know the worst part is the first week and I think that's what's preventing me from getting going...but to others out there who are just beginning, take it from me - start it once and it will work. Fall off the wagon for too long and it's extremely difficult to get back on - especially if you never got to the refeed portion where "normal" eating comes back to life.

Chat later.

One week's success

Well, it's "officially" been one week since I got back on the band wagon. Though I deviated once or twice, I still lost 10 pounds! Cannot believe it! I keep thinking there is something wrong with my scale.

Surprisingly, I was able to start up pretty easily - though I must admit, I have been doing some hypno-therapy the last few weeks and I think that has helped to put the burr in my butt to do this this time.

This weekend was tough though with cravings - thus the deviations - but nothing too horrible. A few handfuls of crackers more than I should have and a few extra bites of meat in between meals.

So, I vow to get back on track today and not deviate at all.

I have my 20 year HS reunion on May 17th and my goal is to be either 30-ish pounds lighter by then or at least start to fit into 12/14 clothes as opposed to my 16/18s.

My concerns are that the three weeks prior to it I will be traveling and we know what happens there. can't do it 100% though i will try to prepare as best I can.

Gotta run. Hope you all are doing great.
