Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Shredded Cheese

They advise against the packaged pre grated because of the fillers in it to keep it from sticking... Write them and reconfirm that..I don't believe it says it in the Guide... I think I have read it over the past 8 months from many others who had written and were given that reply. I have heard that from other cooking shows, Pampered Chef, etc... informing people that the store bought shredded cheese has fillers..

Well, hopefully you can see my attachment. This is the section that talks about cheese. I think the rule regarding 3x's /week came from one of my email questions to the consultants. I have noticed that if I eat cheese too much it does slow down my progress. But, I think cottage cheese is different from mozz and cream cheese which is what I'll eat more often.

This is what I don't like about the internet plan as it will take a few days to get a response from the consultants. I am sure there are variations in everyone's plan, but I thought the Plan Guide was a universal packet which pretty much said the same thing for everyone. I think the clinics have more up-to-date guidelines than we get.

Would any clinic people be adverse to posting their guidelines online? I will post mine. I'd like to see if the clinic ones are more detailed. Or, are we infringing on copyright? Maybe we can private message them?

Thanks! That's the same thing I have, but since I never heard about only eating it 3x's a week, I'll stick w/my cottage cheese every day. :) I've had a steady weight loss, too, so if it begins to slow, then I'll change things up.

Have a good day!

DD - I can't get on the Exoboard website for some time now, it ends at page 17. Have you had this problem? Have you had delays in responses from the Consultants? I've emailed now 3 times with my 12 week blood work, today finally got a response that they never received any (they were attached each email) so I sent again... I have now referred five ladies who have signed up and this is frustrating on my end as I try to help them. I'm looking forward to REFEED! You are doing so GREAT!

Your Right About the Cheese

Ididit4me -

You're right, my diet guide does not mention how many times a week we are allowed to have cheese. It only mentions it is allowed once a day. I was going off memory because I didn't have my guide with me. That's my mistake. It's once a day. It's listed under meal 1 on my plan as 70grams.

I'm only four days into the program and I haven't had any cheese except cream cheese one day. I've been afraid to eat the shredded mozz i bought. I'm waiting to hear from the consultants. I sent them an email today to ask about it. I don't like cottage cheese, the texture doesn't work well with me. I've only had ricotta in lasagna so I can't say there.

I'll post what I hear from the consultant.

Hi MelissaAnn -

Congrats on your weightloss!!! I'm sorry your having such a hard time getting through to the consultants. They are probably overwhelmed.

I am ending day 4 of my program. I keep telling myself one meal at a time, one day at a time. I noticed your ticker and your mention of refeed. Have you lost all your weight during the initial 12 weeks or did you have to purchase additional weeks? They say that most folks achieve their weightloss goal in the initial 12 weeks. I have 52lbs. to lose and am a bit skeptical. I have not deviated and know that since I made it through the first few days which are the hardes, I should be fine. In any event, I was just wondering if you lost it all in 12 week or more than 12 weeks. Thanks for sharing!

PS - Let us know how you make out with your refeed.

Good luck and congrats on making it to week 12!

B - My 12 weeks were up on Feb 03 so I purchased another 12 for $179. I think I will finish in April, in time to order my refeed. You are off to a terrific start!

Hello, I am just sharing the answers to some questions I asked the consultant. After my second blood work, they sent me a list of things that sparked these:

1) The consultant said: don't necessarily be concerned with yogurt stuck to the bowl, or food stuck to the skillet; do the best you can.
2) Tea doesn't count as water.
3) No info given on research citations; question not addressed

Hope these help. AH

Day 16

Friends -

It's been a while!! I hope you all are well on your way to skinny!

MelissaAnn - Have you started refeed yet? How's it going?

I am ending day 16 and I must say...it's not that bad. The weekends for me are much tougher than the weekdays. On the weekends when I'm out running chores and all, it's tough because all the smells and food places all over the place. This weekend I went to my nephews birthday party. there was pizza and chicken fingers and buffalo wings. However, I took my food with me and ate it. I also had to go to the mall and the Cinnabon and Chick fil a were killing me but I kept walking. I think that was my shortest trip to the mall EVER!!!! :D For dinner everyone ate fried chicken and I had to go outside and read a magazine. I almost lost it then. But i had an apple and said a prayer!

I eat mostly chicken and lean beef. Learned how to make spicy mustard from ground mustard seed. It 's really spicy but a little lite mayo tones it down. I haven't gotten the salad dressing down right but I'm working on it. I actually miss eating salads.

I bought a food processor that helps me slice and dice my veggies. I do that once a week and put them in containers in the fridge. I also weight my meats and store them in freezer baggies. I pull them from the freezer as I need them. I prepare two meals each night. One for dinner and another for lunch the next day. At breakfast I normally eat an egg and some veggies or a cup of plain yougurt. I've learned to fix the yogurt up with cinnamin or sweetner and lemon. I can't wait until peaches are in season out here in Philly so I can eat them with my yogurt.

Last but not least, I put on a pair of pants to day (size 14) that were pretty tight the last time I put them on. I'm pleased to say that today...they were pretty darn loose. I'm a hippy girl and can I tell you I had at least 1/2 inch on each hip. I was so excited. I have been on the scale a time or two but I try to stay away from it.

The results like I had this morning keep me going!

Some days are tougher than others (like the weekend) but I take it one meal at a time.

On to day 17...

bubblinb I have not started my refeed yet. I still have 19 lbs to lose. My program ends on May 3, so I plan to order mine the week before.

DD How are you doing? I think of you all the time as we continue on this same time line!

I was out of town last week for 5 days - what a challenge. We were at a conference and stayed in a motel. I brought my fruit/ crackers, but couldn't bring other foods or cook. The only place we could usually eat with our late schedule was the Cracker Barrell! I tried to make smart choices, but definitely didn't eat at the right times or drink enough water. Well I came home up 5 lbs! After 4 days back on track I have dropped the 5 plus 2 more! That's what's so great about this program, we do learn the right tools.

Update

MelissaAnn...

Damn - out of town for 5 days and going to Cracker Barrell....I would definitely lose it -and I do not mean in pounds! - Do they still have that chicken casserole on Wednesday...okay - enough - I'm obsessing.. I've gone out of town for weeks - but I stay at relatives and bring everything short of the refrigerator.

I've started a new job 2 weeks ago...in training...my brain is tired.. So, my entire routine has been changed. Have to get up and start real early. (AND - I NOT A MORNING PERSON). I am scheduled lunch time...so by the time I commute home and can eat again it can be 7 hours since my last meal. Its been rough this week..and trying to get all the water. I know I will develop a new routine soon..once I get one.

Thank goodness I have stock piled soup in my freezer. It is so easy to grab in the morning ..one baggie with my protein and veggie ready to eat. I'll make more this weekend. Don't mind eating it all the time... So, nice not to have to deal with all that prepping the night before.

I haven't been able to post as frequent. So, here is an update. I have finally gotten under the 200's...Thank you - "Weight GODDESS". It is so nice to see 1_ _'s rather than that 2_ _ 's

I have loss 64 lbs. - to date. So, I am now officially more than half way there! I had said I wanted to say l've lost 60 lbs..because I thought it would sound so cool...boring .....Now I want to say.. "I've loss 70 lbs...I think that's a whole bunch cooler sounding!!! Also, the scale in the 80's is so much better looking. .

There were two people at my new job that I knew...and they had not seen me since the weight loss. Noone else knows me - (they will just know me as a gal who wears baggie clothes-I'm trying to use up my winter clothes before getting rid of them and spring hits )...well, I had almost forgotten...when one said... "Look at you!" ....so, I looked - then I realized what she meant. She hadn't seen me without a bulky winter coat and 60 lbs less... Cool - huh!

I am suppose to get another blood test... but I can't go for another couple of weeks. I have to wait till I get a weekday off..new job...you know.. So, maybe the next schedule will have me working a weekend day giving me a weekday off... then I can go. This time, I may have different results...since there is a huge weight loss from the beginning and my cravings and hunger have been different from all other times...ate chocolate and cheese and extra cheese and extra cheese again and again... craving that cheese! Been eating extra crackers also!

Well, long post...but - like I said... new job... brain exhausted - and time limited...so - I thought I would touch base - big time -huh

Hi everybody, I just wanted to introduce myself real quick. I'm 34 y.o. German living in NYC, being happily married to a great man, and unfortunately having gained about 24lbs. in the past 18 months. Some of it is due to a thyroid malfunction, which I'm trying to get a hold on now, others is due to shameless eating and drinking. I feel horrible and have made up my mind that the weight has to come off--I discovered the Cohen's diet just today and have a couple questions about it, so bear with me if they have been asked over and over before.
I once started the Total Wellbeing Diet after a book from Australia, and liked it. On a first glimpse, the Cohen's diet seems similar--has anybody done the Total Wellbeing Diet before?
I have two more months before going to Italy for 3 1/2 weeks--is it worth starting now or shall I do it when I get back?
I work out five days a week with a personal trainer (another attempt to fight the fat), but read on here that Cohen's and gym don't mix. Is that true?
Last but not least, I'm confused about the cost. On the official website, they say "Your personal diet program based on your blood test results and with a 12 weeks support comes at a rate of US$249. (Prices are subject to change without a prior notice)." Is that per week, per month, or for the entire 12 weeks?

Again, sorry for the many newbie questions and thanks in advance for tips and tricks...

Easy

Hi Easy,

I live in MA and have never heard of the Total Wellbeing Diet. Regarding the internet pricing the cost for the entire 12 weeks is $249 and if you reach refeed w/in those 12 weeks, then that is included as well. If, for any reason, you needed an additional 12 weeks, then the cost is $179.
As far as your trip to Italy, I don't think I'd be able to go there and be on this diet, but that is just me and I had a lot more than 24lbs to lose.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!!

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for your reply! I'm concerned about Italy as well, but I'm thinking that I could start now--given the fact that I'm not leaving for another 8 weeks--and see what happens diet-wise when I'm in Europe.
The Total Wellbeing Diet is a diet that originated in Australia. It seems similar in terms of eating lots of proteins and weighing your food and really sticking to how much they tell you to eat, no more and no less. But I'm just finding things out about Cohen's, so maybe that's the only commom thing.

Hello, I'm so glad to find some people who speak in pounds!!! While I love all the great stories, I get tired of converting kg... :)

I'm in Texas and on my fourth day. I'm loving this! I've got 55-60 pounds to lose. I'm 5'6" and my Cohen recommended weight is 130-136. I weighed that much when I got married, but fertility treatments and back to back to back pregnancies, plus breastfeeding, took their toll. I finally realized that my youngest is almost 5, though, so I gotta stop blaming the extra pounds on pregnancy!

Time to get real and take responsibility for my weight and my health. I want to feel energetic again... want to run and play with the kids without getting short of breath... want to climb my stairs without getting winded.

I'm so motivated after reading all the stories here... you ladies are amazing! I'm thrilled to be joining you on our journey a new bod... a new life... better health.

BabyFatNoMore,

Good Luck with this diet, I've just started my 2nd set of 12 weeks and have lost 50lbs as of today. I can't believe how much this works. I only wish I found it years ago!!!!!

Check out this site, too, both are very informative and have great groups of people!!

:)

I have another quick question for the USA Cohenettes: How long does it take from registering until you can actually start? Does the lab send the results of the blood test to a Cohen center in NC, and they'll send me my individual plan, or how does it work?
Thanks again

Hey Easy,

Have you received the info for the bloodwork yet? I think it took me about a week to hear from Cohen's, then I had to do the bloodwork. I get my blood taken by Direct Labs and they're very easy to deal with. I just give them the paperwork, have my blood drawn, then I receive an email from Cohen's as well as a copy of the results from the Lab. I usually have my blood done on Saturdays and usually by Thursday I'll hear from the Cohen people. I know some people go thru other labs like Quest and it sounds like they have some difficulties thru them, but I'm not exactly sure. When I first started and had my blood done on the Saturday, that following Thursday I received my diet plan in email. Make sure you keep an eye on your spam/bulk folder as a lot of people don't realize the emails sometimes go there.

Good Luck!

I registered on a Tuesday, got my blood test order on Friday, took the test the same day at Direct Labs, received my blood work by email on Wednesday, and had my diet plan Thursday morning. All that-- and it was Easter week! Not too bad at all. Of course, I was so excited that it seemed like it took forever...

I hope it's not going to take 4 weeks, like it did for somebody else on here. I wonder if I should make the appointment for the blood test now, even though i haven't received the referral yet--just to make sure they can see me as soon as possible. I have two more months before going to Italy for our church wedding and I would like to slim down a bit for that--and for summer in general!
About the working out: Has anybody had to stop working out since being on the diet?
