Weight-Loss Amazing Race Style Challenge

Weight-Loss
haha a terrible roadblock for a vegetarian!

That's why you have two other teammates who can do it instead. Remember--only one person from each team has to do this--not everyone.

I prefer exercise challenges to food ones.. Though the damn spin kick for the capoeira is not easy.

Still i find every week to be pretty fun and if we make it to the end it'll be something to look back on.

I also want to continue with the capoeira for practical reasons so perhaps by the end of this I shall have my own videos to show ( not that anyone would watch)

I guess after making her count calories it was time to giver her a challenge she could love (lots of exercise and a pound of salmon, too!)

In our team it looks like we will all eat the salmon - it always seems to give great weight loss. I am having salmon twice this week and probably eat the quantity most weeks. It looks like Dawn (Bellaryna) is going to be credited with getting us round the salmon roadblock though.

Knowing my luck - if counting calories turns up this challenge (as it so often does!) it is going to be one where the whole team has to join in.

I said to Cinderelly just the other day that which doesn't kill us only makes us stronger, right? :p lol

Well, you know, I am so addicted to your competitions that yesterday I thought how anyone could have any illiusions that he/she would lose weight without participating in Kim's challenges...

I still hate exercising :banghead: but the idea with the weight loss (as well as everything else in life) is that you just have to push yourself tiny little bit beyond what you have ever thought you are capable of.

Lol, I better not pretend to be so clever! Sorry about my bad English. As some of you know it is not my native language. (I attend English courses here in the UK though).

Wulsk - your English is just fine. I have never had any difficulty in understanding you. I could not hope to be as good as you at another language.

Week 3—Rio to Vancouver 18hrs 50min. 6hrs17min per teammate if split evenly, and 9hrs25min would be 50%.

Hockey comes to mind when one thinks of Canada, of course, but I can’t make you play hockey, as you need people to play with, skates and an ice rink--and that would be very difficult for just about everyone but Jerome. :D Maple syrup is very Canadian, but most of you would enjoy eating that too much, and it's not very conducive to weight loss. :) Neither would eating Poutine (French fries with gravy and cheese curds—a Quebecois treat that I LOVE). :drool5:

So, as Vancouver’s a port city, fishing is a major industry there. And as fish is low-cal, a great source of lean protein and full of omega-3 fatty acids, here’s the Roadblock: Eat a lb (basically a half a kilo) of salmon (not canned) over the course of the week. Only one person per team has to do this.

Actually playing hockey outside would be difficult for everyone, I am in Montreal and all the ice that was here last week has turned to slush, the ice that is left cracks as soon as you walk on it. Trying to skate on that would be a good workout at least (but you would ruin your skates) lol.

OMG I so miss poutine, the last time I ate a poutine was August, before I decided to loose weight.

Ha - I love the things Kimmy comes up with - however - I am one of those that does the challeneges al of the exercise and still doesnt loose...it baffles me - my eating isnt bad or outta control - I drink alot of water and do all t his exercise but still dont loose...
even when I did the sodium challeege - I still gained - only I would gain when I cut down or out my sodium...And no I dont cheat either...

I agree with Margaret - your english is fine - I dont think anyone would have an reason to think you are from anywhere else - you speak great :) from what we read

Girls, thank you so much for complimenting my English. So kind... :Angel_anim:

Cinderelly, I feel your pain. I think that the clue to this situation is somewhere in the food. You do definitelly exercise a lot or at least enough. I shouldn't recommend my food to anyone as I definitelly don't eat much. I struggle to reach 1400 cal. I treat myself only once a week if at all. So I am not doing it in the best way but if you really speculate hard on your menu you might realise what you are doing wrong. I discovered that I don't respond good to large quantities of food (even healthy foods) while small buscuits now and then do not affect my weight at all. Margaret's weight loss doesn't like cheese... so there must be something which your body doesn't like.
I know I am a lucky bitch as well because I have never ever dieted or exercised before, never experienced yo yo either. I know that if I let myself down and gain again, the second time will be double more difficult.

After all we do admire people who has success against the odds. To be natuarally skinny is not a big deal but to be a slim-ex-fat person is something which deserves lots of "wows"! What I am trying to say is that you are doing great and with some careful planning you will have big success because you are stubborn, hard working and very motivated.

Are you accusing me of making the challenge to suit my team's strengths? B/c we came in third to last the week before. Honestly, the way the exercise, roadblocks and detours are set up, I don't think any team is going to have much trouble getting the max pts for those--maybe some teams might struggle with the exercise. So it all comes down to weight, really. I think my team is just as vulnerable as any other team when it comes to elimination. :)

Wulsk--I had no idea English wasn't your native tongue up until I noticed a few minor things about a week or two ago. I just assumed you were British..lol. So what is your native language? I was an ESL teacher for 5yrs..:biggrinjester: And thank you again for all your kind words about my challenges. :grouphug:

Kgirl--you are doing better than me with the poutine. I haven't had any since I was in Quebec in 1997!! :svengo: If you want it here in the States, you have to make your own..lol.

Ladyumbra--I'm thrilled you like the Capoeira and plan to continue with it. :)

Wulsk So what is your native language? I was an ESL teacher for 5yrs..:biggrinjester:

My language is Bulgarian and I am a Bulgarian (Eastern Europe). You shouldn't tell me you used to be a ESL teacher... Now I am in stress. :( OK, I didn't hear this, I am ignoring this, I forgot it already... :leaving:

Honey, don't be stressed out--your English is 10X better than most of the students I taught. I studied several languages myself, and make tons of mistakes in it--just ask Jerome about my French..lol. I certainly don't expect your English to be perfect. The important thing is that you are capable of communicating--and you do a great job--so don't feel nervous about. :)

No, I did not think you created the challenge to cater to your team. I just think Margaret finally found the challenge she can really enjoy!

I actually enjoy all the challenges. Having said that - there are some aspects that I can always cope with better than others.

You may be interested (and possibly amused) to know that I am really enjoying the mini challenge running this week under Jennababe's "3 months till summer" overall challenge. Jennababe and I have never encountered each other before this challenge so I think that I will surprise her!

The requirement is:

This is the first mini challenge that is going to take place. I challenge all of you to get out your walking shoes and walk as much as you can. For every mile that you walk this week you will recieve half a bonus point. The walking must be done in an act for exercising. You must set aside some time to walk.

I am sure that you will not be surprised to learn that I am accumulating rather a nice total of points in this unlimited walking challenge. Since it is the first mini-challenge in the series so no-one starts with any points - I suspect that I might finish the week in a commanding lead.
