Weight-Loss ACCOUNTABILITY THREAD - The Purple Team Thread

Weight-Loss
Brian - you probably did post it before, but I'm HORRIBLE with names. Yours should be easy to remember being that you're the only guy on our team. And it does count that you're a father - YOU GOT ONE ON THE WAY! :)

Okay, I'm going to try all three challenges as well - here's my check in for yesterday.

No exercise - but I still have 5 more days to get 6 hours in. And considering I need to get my ass in gear, its still feasible.

Food -

Breakfast - 1/2 mini whole wheat bagel w/olivio margarine

Small movie popcorn - no butter (does that count as fast food?)
Fried Shrimp (6)
Salad w/tomato, cucumber, shredded cheese, onion, ranch dressing
Small piece of whole wheat bread w/butter
Steak
Baked potato w/butter and sour cream

Fruit Smoothie with Fresh pineapple, coconut, banana and orange (it was YUMMY!)

And now its MONDAY! Have a great week guys! Let's take number one again! Except this time, I'll make sure to check in!

Yay PURPLE TEAM!

I'm going top try all the challenges from the very beginning this week... feeling strong!!!

What up team?

K.
Sunday food was good, dont 100% remeber. Actually i indulged a bit but no big deal. I ate breakfast, ropde to bke for over an hour and I have not eaten fast food in over 5 months.

Exercise 1 hour 15 min bike ride

Monday- exercise 40 min WT 42 Elliptical.
All challanges are completed.

Okay, I haven't exercised properly since wednesday last week... Took Thurs and Fri easy and on Saturday did a short run. Chilled some more... (long weekend over here... "Youth Day"!)

And now it's Tuesday and I'm back at work.

I figure the hardest of the challenges for me will be the exercise one (and the one I can get the most benefit out of!)

When we do fast food I pick a healthy option so I'm not worried about that challenge. I always eat breakfast, so that's cool too.

Another challenge I'm going to try to stick to is the 30g fibre per day and the 3-5 fruits and veg, as well as the water.

Have a beautiful week everyone! My boyfriend hinted that I may be getting a bit obsessive over this weekend... think I should lay off visiting Fitday while he's around! Anyway, I figure I'll just jot down what I eat and record it all at once in the evenings. Plus I would like to focus more on my exercising, dancing and working than counting every calorie I eat!

So here's to a great week! Tonight I'll be getting in 2 hrs, 10 mins exercise... think I can make 6 by Friday!? :)

You're not obsessive - you're FOCUSED! I was the same way in November and wish I could get back to that - slowly, but surely, I am.

And as far as the exercise - you can do anything you put your mind to!

Brian - GREAT JOB on the "no fast food" for the past 5 months! That's willpower!

Okay guys - yesterday was a horrible horrible HORRIBLE day. My morning started off okay, went to work and got yelled at - like, ripped a new asshole! Then, I decided to come home for my lunch hour (spur of the moment decision) since I only live 5 min away. I didn't take anything for lunch and didn't want to venture to any fast food places for temptation.

So - my best friend lives in the apartment underneath me - her door is right next to me. She has a dog, that I am very close to. He's my dog's boyfriend - no, seriously. But anyways. I left my front door unlocked for some reason when I got home - never do that.

Well, my best friend left for South Beach yesterday morning and I guess she was having other friends come over and let her dog out.

Well, I heated myself up some lunch, sat down to eat it - and next thing I knew was someone was at the bottom of my steps screaming "Lori! Help me!"

I ran downstairs and another one of my friend's girlfriends was latching on to me in tears, hysterical, telling me "he's under your car!, he's under your car!"

I ran outside and my best friend's dog had gotten out and ran right into the street. He got hit by a car, turned around and ran under my car and laid down.

I had to lay on the sidewalk to check if he was still breathing and he wasn't. No pulse. The woman that hit him helped me get him out from under the car and we put him on a towel. She put him in my car and I rushed to the vet hospital that is about 2 blocks away.

They tried to revive him and he didn't make it. I made the decision to have him cremated so that my best friend could have the option of whether or not she wanted him buried.

This was all very very hard for me because I'm a HUGE animal person. And I was very close to this dog. But - I put on a straight face and did what needed to be done while her other girlfriend was in hysterics the whole time and wouldn't help at all.

After everything was taken care of I had to go back to work and put on a smiling face for another 5 hours. It was extremely difficult. I got home last night and just cried and cried. That's when it all hit me I guess. And now we're stuck with - do we call my best friend and tell her? or wait four more days til she gets home?

I know not everyone is the same - but I'd wanna know. But no one else wants me to say anything.

So, needless to say - I didn't think much about food intake.

I did eat my breakfast - had an apple w/peanut butter.
Throughout the day -
1 bite of Salmon
3 bites of cold Steak
1 1/2 slices white pizza w/black olives and mushrooms
2 homemade smores
1 piece of chicken thigh
Macaroni and cheese
2 Raspberry Zingers

I did get 45 min of exercise in. So, I worked toward all three challenges.

Didn't mean to make such a long post - but I do feel better now that I got that all out!

Hopefully today will be better. :)

Oh my word! I have no idea what you should do... maybe you should tell her... she'll have more time to get over it, instead of telling her as she comes back from the beach...

I dunno, I'd wanna know. But I guess if I never knew, and only found out when I got back, I would have had a nicer time at South Beach.

Hmmm, I really don't know. I feel so bad for you, but don't worry, everything will come out in the wash.

Lori
I am sorry that you had such a stressful day. Congratulate yourself on doing exercise and eating so healthily on such a difficult day. Days like that can so easily trigger a need to comfort-eat.

In 1997 my auntie died whilst I was on holiday. I was raised in an extended family situation and my auntie was part of my childhood household from before I was born until her death. She was another mother to me.

The family took the decision not to tell me until my return to England within the week - and arranged the funeral for after my return.

On the whole - I think that they did the right thing. Naturally - I was shocked, but at least I had benefited from a relaxing holiday before I had everything to face.

Situations like this are not set in stone - and there is no right solution and no wrong one. Everyone is different. I just thought that my experience may be of use.

I will get round to posting properly soon - but suffice it to say that everything is on track here. Saturday, Sunday, Monday and thus far Tuesday have all gone well - good with both food and walking. Since I do at least 3 hours of exercise walks a day I have more than completed all the exercise aspects of this challenge. I always eat breakfast too.

Lori, I'm so sorry to hear about your day. It must have been so terrible for you but it sounds like you handled things amazingly.

I've no idea what you should do, as you say everyone is different, and there are good and bad points to both but I think I'd rather not know 'til after the holiday...

I'm really sorry again and hope things get much better soon

Thank you guys so much for the input - it really helps.

Margaret - I feel so bad about what happened with your aunt. Its so amazing how life works sometimes. But in the end - it always works out the way God wants it to. And we never realize until long after the fact.

As far as the food on that day, I thought I did horrible! When I don't keep track and just eat whatever, I feel like I blow it.

Yesterday was a prime example of this - I spent all day at work running around (it was the Orientation day for new students) and it was just one big chaotic mess. I was concentrating on so many things there that anything about food just went out the window.

I did have breakfast before I left - slice of toast and a hard boiled egg.
After that..it was all downhill. :(

1 slice of birthday cake
2 small snack bags of barbeque chips
1 1/2 peanut butter cookies
1 small pizza that I heated in the oven (tasted like crap too)

I didn't get in any exercise - so if I want to make that bonus, I'll really need to bust ass for the next three days.

I need to start packing healthy snacks so that I have them - being broke til payday doesn't help though..lol. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

You guys are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I agree that there is definite room for improvement regarding Tuesday's food - I try to keep a track - and things go better for me the more repetitive I stay.

I still think that your food for Monday was pretty good all things considered. I could have eaten like it was going out of style in circumstances like that. You did not. There were some healthy things and we all need to eat protein and stuff like that. You were to my mind very limited in the less healthy stuff.

Healthy snacks are the way to go. I make up sachets of sugar free jelly into containers that have lids. Then when they have set in the fridge I have my own home made giant jelly pots. They are tons cheaper than the ones that you buy ready made. There are only about 32 calories in a whole pint of jelly.

I will catch up on my food diary soon. Internet has been down all day (just got a new ISP). Suffice it to say that all is going to plan here. Food good and have walked over 12 miles again today.

So, I'm still on track with ALL my goals for the week, HOORRAY!!

Ok, long day, tired of typing now.

Night night!

*sigh*
This has been a long week for me. Sorry i haven't been posting but it has been difficult. My wife had some bleeding Tuesday and needed an ultrasound yesterday- all is well- but the stress form 10pm Tuesday until noon yesterday was incredible. That plus work picking up is really stressing me. Luckily I never was an emotional eater- I just ate because I love to- so this is not causing me to eat out of stress. But it is still stress. Another ultrasound today just to make sure but all should be well.

6/16- ate well- hit all goals. Wt for 40 min cardio for 42- 1 hr 22 min total
6/17- ate well- hit all goals. Cardio- 6 miles in little over 51 minutes
6/18- ate fairly well- hit all goals- WT 30 min- Cardio for 41. 1 hr 11 min total
Wasn't as in to the workout yesterday as i usually am but so be it.

total this week so far- exercise- 5 hours 18 minutes
Bonus- all three met so far.
Weight- holding steady at 220 as of this morning so I think a 1 lb loss will happen Saturday morning.

k
great job so far team!

Hey Brian. Sorry to hear about the pregnancy difficulties, I hope she is handling it alright? You seem like a sweet, supportive husband, so I'm sure she will find comfort in your strength.

To remain a solid rock whilst the world storms around you, is not only great for yourself, but benefits others as they can lean on you in the storm :)

And well done on still exercising like a mofo!

Brian - sorry to hear that all is not going smoothly there. It sounds like your wife is getting some great medical attention - and hopefully things will get a lot less stressful for you both very soon.

Great job on the challenges front!

Everything is going well here.

Kimberly (BikiniBound) and I spent yesterday together walking all around central London. When you consider the fact that she recently did 40 miles in one day - it really should not be too surprising that we covered quite a decent mileage in our "fun day out sightseeing". We ate healthily - bringing a healthy picnic and eating outdoors (no fast food for us!).

She brought me one of those Fiber One bars that she eats often - and it was really good. I wish that we could get those over here! 140 calories for a chocolate bar which contains 9 grams of fibre. I can definitely recommend them!

My Thursday

Foodwise, I ate really well. Got almost all my fibre in. (Just discovered oat bran porridge, yummmm!) Also had all my water

Exercise-wise, I ended up not doing any (not even belly dancing :( my bike was all dodgy and I didn't wanna risk getting stuck on the side of the road)

At least I have a dancing class tomorrow, and I'll be going to the gym tonight and tomorrow morning! So, don't know if I'll make that exercise bonus unless I can use tomorrow's exercise in the number.

May I Lori? Seeing as we enter our weights on Saturdays too.

Otherwise, have a great day all!

Margaret- thank you very much for your kind words. We had an ultrasound yesterday and all seemed well. the HR was good, size was good and we watch 'him' move around a little. so all should be good.

Food yesterday was good.
ran 5 miles- so 45 minutes of exercise including the cool down.

I have hopes of a small loos this week
