Weight-Loss ACCOUNTABILITY THREAD - The Purple Team Thread

Weight-Loss
Margaret - I was reading your "have you ever licked the back of a cd" questions thing and saw that you'd live in Newcastle-upon tyne when you're older.

I was just wondering have you lived there? I'll be moving there this winter, very excited, and was hoping it's a good place! I love the Geordies! Do you like it?

Morning guys! I am so glad that the positive affirmation bonus is helping you guys the way it is helping me. I think too often we all get down on ourselves because of our weight - and forget that there's more to us than just our weight. So, this exercise is a good one even if it seems difficult. :grouphug: I'm glad that we've finally started talking to each other! I think that's more important than just posting stats - know what I mean??

Anyways - I was so proud of myself yesterday - had a few slipups in the day - but for the most part, I'm on my way to being back on track.

Didn't get any exercise in yesterday, I worked until 8 and it was just too freakin hot!

Food for the day -

Strawberries - 2 cups
Hard Pretzels
1 small slice of birthday cake (could only eat half) :toetap05:
Fiber One bar
Raisin Bran with skim milk
2 Tacos, 1/2 beef burrito, 1 small cheese roll, Pinto beans w/cheese :toetap05:
1 homemade S'more :toetap05:

Total Fiber for the day - 31 grams

Positive Affirmation for today -

6/10 - I am very creative.

BTW - I know some, but what is everyone's real name? I'm LORI :waving:

I was born and raised in Newcastle upon Tyne - so I am one of those Geordies.

I left in my twenties - my husband is from west London and we have lived near there for the past 23 years.

The majority of our friends that live in England are in the north east - and it is certainly being strongly considered that we move up to Newcastle. Obviously I have relatives there too. My parents and cousins live there.

Whenever we go up to Newcastle for a weekend we end up cramming as many things as possible into a short time - and inevitably end up overeating like happened a week ago.

I am sure that you will like living there.

Okay, here's Monday:

10 June - I adapt to any situation really well

I ate too much yesterday... totalled about just over 3000 calories... damn! But hey, haven't had one of those days in a while so it's ok. Back to the good things today.

On a brighter note, I got in 55 grams of fiber!!! Woohoo!

I also exercised for just over an hour, running and strength training.

So today is my diet club's official weigh in, and the number I use for our weigh ins here... So I know from the beginning of the week how much I've lost, hehe. No idea what to expect weight wise... probably a small loss, so that's good.

Thanks for the fiber info, think I'll definitely get it in the rest of the week!

So, today we all get called in for a meeting. We get told it's about "organisational change".

Hmmm... So they say our development team needs to be downsized... but! Our company's partner company does recruiting and they will put some of the guys on our team onto a contract position somewhere for a few months, because business will inevitably pick up in a few months. So they don't wanna lose our skills basically.

So... where I stand in this is... Not only will I carry on working with the user manuals and training materials, I will take over my brother's job as the whole Quality Assurance team (He's found a better job!)

So I'll be doing some different work for a while, how exciting!

Affirmation

Tuesday 10th June - I am a dutiful daughter in law
My Mother in Law has never made any secret of the fact that she hates me. Her comment when we got engaged was "Can't you find yourself a nice girl instead?".
Today like every week I have just arranged for her groceries to be delivered for her via the internet. I know that she is elderly now! It is easy to run around after someone that you get on ok with. It is a real pain when you never have and never will!

Like some of the others I am finding this bit of this challenge really difficult.

Fibre challenge today: done and done!
The fibre challenge is pretty tricky really, especially when your trying to limit calorie intake and eat more protein (like i am) everything contains a lot less fibre than i thought it did! So it's a good challenge, learned something new from it!

Vegetables seem to be a really good place to get low cal. fibre, damn veg. so good for you, but it tastes so bad! And it's the last thing I want after a long day! Just hoping the more i eat it, the less i'll hate it.

Affirmation:
Tuesday
I am, though they might disagree sometimes, a good big sister to my little brothers!

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday, only three more affirmations to think up! lol, and I'm already scraping the bottom of the barrel! night!

And my positive affirmation for Wednesday -

6/11 - I'm a good cook!

Anke - Congrats on the change in jobs - its nice to have change!

Omega - good job with the daughter in law duties. I went through that with my ex-boyfriend (his mother absolutely hated me) I have lucked out though with my current boyfriend - his mother and I get along really well. But its tough when you have to do nice things for people that don't like you - just kill her with kindness! :)

PinkFluff - I agree with the Fiber being hard on the low carb route. I was thinking about starting that this week - but didn't want to worry about the fiber end of it. I am not a big fan of veggies myself.

Bigguy - GREAT job on being a courteous driver -not too many of those in Pittsburgh either (I can't even say that I am one..hehe)

Rah - where ya at chickie? Haven't heard from you..hope you're doin well!

Have a great day guys - two more days til the weigh in!

Urgh, weighed myself today n i've gained 2 pounds since the last weigh-in
I don't know how, I've been doing ok, even though i have been very hungry. I'm just hoping it's just water and fibre or hormones! Figures crossed but will have to work extra hard for the rest of the week....

Lori, Margaret, Rah, Anke and Brian, hope you've all had a good day.
Margaret, I know exactly how it is with visiting back "home". I'm from the North West but have been living in Scotland for the last year and i have no resolve when I go back visiting friends!
Anke, I hope your job change goes ok, it could turn out to be a really good thing!
Brian, congrats on the 5 mile run!
Lori, looking at your food list it doesn't look like you bombed with the food, it looks like you still did really well! Even with a buffet, they are SO tempting, so well done!
Rah, hope your doing very well!

Speak to you all later

Leila

Wednesday: 11/06/08

At least 3 hours exercise out walking.
Pedometer readings at end of day:
---Steps = 30,134
---Distance = 11.65 miles
My Food / Drink:
2.5 litres of cold water
more diet cola than normal
3 weetabix, sweetener, 350 ml skimmed milk
Shape no fat yoghurt - strawberry
low fat cottage cheese, cucumber, 1 tomato, celery, lettuce
tandoori chicken (2 leg / thighs), steamed white rice, garnish of salad bits, no dressing
1 banana
1 peach
4 plums
2 pears
1 apple
1 kiwi fruit
sugar free jelly (2 sachets)
2 WW sweets (caramel & chocolate melts 68 calories per tube of 10 sweets)

calories 1780
fibre 32
protein 111

Pretty pleased with how the day turned out since we ate out.
Surprised at the low amount of fibre in a serving of steamed white rice. I think that I got 1g of fibre out of that serving which accounted for over 300 calories!!! I know that there are other forms of rice that are more nutritionally sound - but you have no choice but to select from what a restaurant offers with things like that.

Very sad to say that I didn't get any exercise in yesterday either - did you guys see my post on Sunday about the housework? Does that count as exercise? I feel like a big slacker this week with none - but my schedule after work has been chaotic. Let me know! Thanks! Have a great day!

If you were working your body for at least 30 minutes, and getting a bit out of breath, count it as light exercise :)

Affirmation

Thursday 12th June - I am able to become very focused.
Mine is a bit of a two edged sword. It can certainly help me to achieve things that seem unlikely and has been of tremendous value in this weight loss project - but it is inclined to also make me forget about things that I currently do not set with as high a priority.
