We´re all in it for life - which is exactly why any successful strategy must be pleasant enough to keep up through maintenance.
I really like this, as I tend to knock myself out trying to find recipes that everyone likes that are healthy, and sometimes I just need a break to do things other than feed everyone the healthiest thing. Nice to hear your voice of moderation!

A non-scale victory...
There are a pair of pants in my closet I dread wearing - not because they're tight (and they are) but because they are borderline too short. What makes them worse for being tight is they get shorter because my hips/butt fills them to capacity and it lifts the pants so they're even shorter. Someone at work once commented on my 'high waters'.

Today - they were the last outfit in my closet.
I put them on, and they're loose, baggy actually!

I agree - but my strategy was successful for years of maintenance - and still, when I started gaining, I didn't have that V8 moment, (smack on the head at 10 pounds up and go...'woah! I need to address this before I'm 80 pounds up!'

About 3-4 years ago I went to Weight Watchers for awhile, at one of the meetings was this very fit woman. When she was introducing herself, she said something that was so profound...Her reason for being back was because her jeans got too tight. Not that she gained X number of pounds but when she first lost her weight, she committed to herself that she would not buy larger jeans due to weight gain. So if jeans got too tight, she got back on track.

Me? I seem to remember to get back on track when I'm 80 pounds up lol
And I don't mean to knock myself or beat myself up, it's not that at all, but maybe just an honest look at the pattern so this time...I'll be more aware and STAY more aware, when life changes/gets busy/goes crazy...all those normal things about life.

So when my goal weight jeans get tight, I take action.
:)

Yikes, I'm chatty today...
So on regular days, I plan my meals and eat my plan. I know I can do this 5-6 days a week because my partner works nights and weekends and we generally only have one day together.

Tonight, my friends are coming over, and we'll have wine, cheese, appetizers. So I took my breakfast and lunch from yesterday, added it to today and then started filling in with what I know is in my house for tonight and pulling out items from lunch to help off set the high calories for dinner and I'm only 49 calories over if I eat the plan...I think if I drop a yogurt from lunch, I'll still be in calorie range!

I think when I get my weight back down again I'll do the same thing. I'll have a pair of pants that will be my yardstick. I love that you are planning ahead & your social life still fits in with your calorie restrictions. You are really doing well :)

My trousers at the moment to fitting just comfortable on some days to a little tight on the tummy on occasions, want them comfortable everyday. This will be a reminder for me to not eat crap this weekend ( mind you none in the house ) and feel good tues morning when I put them on for work . Hope you had a nice time with your friends

I love your new measuring stick of not buying bigger pants - keeping the ones that ride up when our hips get bigger - I have that problem, too! And I was worried about just that yesterday as I still have 15 pounds to lose and am gaining a little weight here and there.

So great your pants are loose now and that you are planning in advance for what to eat at your party. You're doing so great!!

We had a really nice time!
I used to hang out with these friends 4-6 times a week for years, and it's been too long since we hung out regularly so I am really enjoying our Friday nights! This time though, I only had one small glass of wine (instead of 2 bottles myself last week lol)

Everyone brought food, one is a baker and brought cupcakes, including gluten free, I stayed away from everything except what was on my plan, I only modified the plan a bit and still stayed under calories for the day.

It is interesting to see that even being within calorie range, I was up 6oz this morning. I know it's not much but it's funny how ONE reasonable evening does have an impact.

So for Christmas, I received a record player and I've since, started collecting a lot of my old favorite albums.
Last night, before my friends came over, I had the music blasting and danced like crazy in the kitchen.

By the time they showed up, I was hot, sweaty, my hair frazzled and frizzy.
I'm thinking my exercise program has begun ;)

lol

I LOVE playing vinyl. We currently have 2 record players, that we can't play. Your night sounds like fun, fun, fun & your self-restraint was magnificent!

Noooo, what's wrong with the record players? Can you fix them?
I'm loving the sound. I think I have about 30 records and this dancing thing has a good chance of replacing Netflix!

One had a broken stylus & I bought a new one & broke it putting it in. The other was given to us by a friend of our younger son & I can't connect it to the speakers that I have. I need help :(
I love, love, love dancing :)

Ohhhh! Who can help you get them connected?

Yay for dancing like nobody's watching!
YES!!!
I'm sure I looked pretty damn ridiculous!!

It might be worth asking!
I also see a lot of turn tables at goodwill stores, I'm not sure what your equivalent would be.
This is the first time since *1989* that I have not had a connecting wall/ceiling/floor with a neighbor, so I have been LOVING turning it up and dancing like crazy!

You did great on restraining yourself at the party!!! And dancing!!!
