AHH SORRY THIS IS COMPLICATED. I also realize that every week or so we'll have bonus points. Like this week, we have the 5 point bonus for each person who does more htan 4 hours of workout.

If we're goign to be calculating by percentage, we can't really add the 5 points to the " MAXIMUM TOTAL POINTS TEAM(X) COULD HAVE EARNED " because it's just a bonus. the points would only be added to the numerator portion of the formula. ..i think!

I think even though it's a bonus, we could prob add those to max total points just for the sake of calculating a percentage, since everyone has the ABILITY to earn those 5 bonus points. Does that make sense? Or I'm wrong and making no sense....please correct me if that's the case!

I don't think we should add the bonus points to the total because that makes it unfair. When you add it in, it no longer becomes a bonus, but part of the total points, and seems like a requirement.

Like, if you get 90 points out of 100 points on a test, you're at 90/100. There was also a chance for a 10 point extra credit points. That would mean you COULD gain back those 10 points you lost on the test adn get 100/100.

However, if you had added those 10 points to the total, you would have gotten 100/110 on the test -- still making your score low. OR, if you didn't attempt the extra credit, you would get 90/110 - which makes your score even lowerrr than your original score - even though the bonus is supposed to help you, not hurt you.

Do you kind of see waht I mean? I don't think it would be very fair to increase the total points when it's really just a bonus.

and yeahhh we can we replace/get rid of MIA players? :( plz
 
I agree with you Lux, but then I guess it would disadvantage our team again for having 2(actually3) MIA players, b/c then they couldn't have the ABILITY to get those 5 bonus points....oh well I guess it's not that much in the end :). I'm down with whatever, as long as we can find a way to even it out a bit since we had so many newbies not show up in the end.

Only 2 mia players... Lena was allowed to score retroactive for last week so her points are added in as if she had been involved from Go.

At this point, I'm okay with letting it fall together for now and we'll see how it goes as we move forward.

The one rule I'm not so sure about is the idea of losing a member off of the losing team... Wouldn't that weaken a weakness? Anyway, lets follow along and see how it goes for now.
 
But all challenges/most challenges have been elimination it is what keeps ppl motivated and working out hard...the idea of ellimination is to get rid of the weak links...eventually ppl slack off...

And typically in the past we have ellimination threads where they can still play along and then the best outta elimination wins...

Are ya gonna do that Claud have an elimination thread?
 
Yeah but we ended up with mia's right off the bat, sort of started off at a disadvantage. I understand losing people as they drop out along the way... that is just the natural order, but this was 2 days in...

Anyway, I shot a pm towards Blancita about another possible substitution... And I'm goingto post the idea here also to see if anyone has an issue with the idea.

mom2 was too late to get into the challenge. So she has been following along and doing the challenge on her own, tracking it in her diary.

Would anyone (and I mean team 1 members here also, since this is about everyone), have an issue with allowing mom2 to substitute for Renda, one of our no shows?

This would allow team 2 to be more competitive and give mom2 the chance to jojn the challenge that she is already following along with.

Thoughts?
 
I noted from the outset that if we have no shows the first week we would add people in if OK with the team. Personally if the teams aren't fairly apportioned, its not much fun..I only want to win if I have to work for it because that's the only way I'll lose weight, my actual real goal here lol. But in this particular challenge the person who didn't pull their weight gets booted. Almost all of our similar challenges on this forum do it that way and trust me it adds deeply to the motivation level for the team as a whole and for individual participants. No one wants to be booted and those who need motivation will get out there and haul ass exercising etc just to keep going. I think there was one no show on our team, though I haven't checked again. If we are still uneven on no shows then let's figure out how to rectify that so we have a fair and challenging competition :).
 
Done! She has been invited. Blancita agreed with me on this one. Plus its only fair that someone who is really trying be allowed in in place of someone who just blew it off.
 
My daily points haven't been totaling and carrying over the final total columns.. has anyone else had thing problem? I'm correcting the problem but I just worried if there was anyway for you to fix it?? Thanks bunches!! Amanda
 
I have redone the formulas in the spreadsheet several times now. I'm not sure how they keep getting screwed up. They are very simple formulas. LOL Again, we'll just have to keep manually checking that no one is deleting the formulas.

Attention everyone!!

At some point today I need to move week 2 in front of week 1 in the spreadsheet. I want to have the most current week's results in the front of the workbook each week so we don't have to keep scrolling to the right to enter our daily points and exercise.

I'm not sure when, but when I have a few free moments today I will "unshare" the file so I can make this change. You will be locked out for a period of time but will be able to get back in after I make the changes. So please don't panic if you can't access the spreadsheet.

It's too difficult to make major changes in the spreadsheet when people are in it with me also making changes.

Also, as a reminder, I am making back up versions of our spreadsheet every few days just incase we have any technical issues, I can restore the file.

Yes I did fix it.. when I put my first day's 10 pts in it didn't even carry over.. I don't care to correct it but just wanted to let you know.. thanks for being a super spreadsheet maker!!!!!
 
Sorry...haven't had time to move week 2 in front of week 1. I will get around to it this weekend. It's been a crazy week at work and in the personal life. I think we can live with scrolling to the right for now until I can set aside a 1/2 hr or so to tinker w/the spreadsheet.

Just wanted to say that almost all my information is gone. All my exercise I did in week 1 is gone plus most of the points are gone for my eating for week one as well. Only about 3 days stayed. I don't know what that's about. Also, my starting weight changed to 164 when it was 173. So I'm gonna change that now, but I'm not touching anything else so you guys can take a peek.
 
Risty, its good that you knew your stats so you could re-input any incorrect data. Anyone can get into the sheet, not just people in the challenge, so who knows what happened on this evil internet.. Please re-update your info and keep us posted if it happens again.
