I'm not going to continue to harp on it. I just think these changes will cause rep power to grow at such a slow rate that everyone will lose interest in it. Why rep someone if it doesn't even change their number?
I have spent alot of time trying to assist new members (some have been one to five post wonders, and then poof they are gone never to be seen again).
I DO NOT try to help a (new or regular member) relying on a rep point (or points); however, a new member shouldnt have any rep points (after all they are just starting, no?).
Additionally, a new member shouldn't have any rep points until they start contributing to the forum, and/or until another member believes they deserve a rep for what they may have posted (and time on forum goes up, and contribution posts go up).
Personally, I cant count how many times I have gotten repped from a new member with no points......"to me its a THANK YOU"......and its the "THOUGHT" that counts more than moving the rep points up (the one that is visible on user posts)....IMO.
IMO, alot persons "WANT" to give "thanks" to another member, and in general people like to hear this once in a while, and for this reason the rep and/or thank you system should remain---for the general GOOD of the forum.
Personally, I do not believe the rep points (the one that is visible on user posts) should go up every time one is repped.
Additionally, we should set our own "point spread" and not base it ("entirely") on what someone else is doing--for the "overall" benefit of the forum.
Best regards,
Chillen
