It's a really good time. Just be careful. Brazil has a huge crime problem, and people disappear all the time.
Basically what you want to do is purchase a costume in Rio (they aren't cheap), and dance in the parade with the colorful people. If you look like you belong, you're OK. If you look like you're a tourist with money, you're toast.
I hear that Brazil has the highest kidnap rate right? What's scary is that even if you are locale, they still will kidnap you unfortunately. If you have money, they will go after your family.
