christine, can you please update your scoresheet when you get the chance? Thanks!!

Full points again yesterday. Took my dog for a 20-minute walk and then push-mowed the yard for well over an hour. That more than covers the exercise and mini-challenge portions and the water wasn't such a pain. I guess because I was doing so much outside and wanted to stay hydrated.

Today's going to be pretty much the same if the weather holds up again. I have to finish up the yard, take my dog for a walk or two.

That's the thing about the weather here, Omega. We've been having abnormally cold temperatures this spring. This time of year, we're usually in the high 70s by now and it's been the mid to low 60s and very wet and rainy every day with just a couple days of sunshine. A couple of weeks ago, a neighboring state to the west actually got some accumulating snow. I'm hoping this means a milder summer (our summers are brutally humid with temps in the high 100s to 110s).

LOL We rarely get the extremes of weather that many places see... Our summers are not hot and they are not very dry... Our winters can be snowy but normally not as deep snow as some people get. We regularly get rain - in fact we expect it all the time... It rained a bit when I was out this morning - but we expected it so I wore a jacket...

This gives an idea of our weather - it looks at our weather over last year as a whole...

To interpret it -
24 degrees C = 75 degrees F
19 degrees C = 66 degrees F
15 degrees C = 59 degrees F
10 degrees C = 50 degrees F
5 degrees C = 41 degrees F

it is supposed to get up to 11C or 51F today...

LOL it looks like we never get much better than you are now...

My husband is from the south and he complains a lot about the weather - and makes comments like "if the people saw a yellow ball of fire in the sky they would be scared and think that the martians had come to attack!!!".

I managed to miss that last liter of water yesterday, but easily got the exercise and outdoors points between walking my dog and push-mowing the rest of the yard.

Well done for getting those points. The last litre is always the hardest... I drank a litre of water during my zumba last night. I always do that - so the water drinking is easiest on zumba days...

Lost only 1/2 pound since last week. But at least I'm losing. I am rather proud of myself for only gaining one week during this entire challenge (now watch me jinx myself).

Time for a new week (yay!).

I think I'm going to need help on this week's mini-challenge. Mands listed what looked to be grain foods as the "no starchy carbs" but I don't want to mess up. Are there other forms of starchy carbs besides the grain foods that I should know about before I start eating?

Well done for managing to lose weight yet again. You are doing brilliantly - to have lost weight so consistently.

I havent done nearly so well. My weight is still stuck... I weighed for the challenge and am a whole 0.2 pounds less than last week. To be fair - I did eat out last Saturday so it could have been worse...

I can however report that I got max points for our team last week - so at least I did ok from a challenge points perspective.

As far as next week's mini-challenge goes - basically avoid grain foods and potatoes...

Things to avoid are things like bread, pasta, potatoes, cereal, cous-cous, rice and things made with flour - so things like yorkshire pudding, pancakes, dumplings, pastry, pizza.
Also things like bread from foreign countries like nan bread, chapati, ciabatta, popadom.
Crisps are made from potato or flour - so they are out...

Basically - once you ignore the potatoes - fruit, veg, meat and fish are all ok so if you make a basic meal from that kind of thing you should be good.

I suppose that if any sauces were thickened with cornflour they would be forbidden... I'll bet that no-one thinks of that one!!!

I am having a heavy exercise day today.
We had a 1 hr salsa lesson this morning.
Then we did a 1hr zumba class.
We are going out to a salsa fiesta (SalSabado) tonight - which will be salsa / zumba dancing all night with a 1 hr bachatango class (it is a fusion between Dominican bachata and the tango).

I have had 2 litres of water so far today - and there will be absolutely no problem having the 3rd litre... Last month - I drank 2.5 litres of water while I was at SalSabado...

The food mini challenge will not be a problem for me this week.
I have several fruit and yoghurt meals every day which does not include starchy carbs.
I rarely include starchy carbs in my main meal...
For instance - I only had starchy carbs on two days last week... On the first - we ate out and I simply had what everyone else had... On the second - I made a casserole and threw in a few new potatoes to ring the changes... It would have been no problem not to put the potatoes in...

I actually very rarely have any starchy carbs so would have probably had none this week anyway...

Thanks for clearing that up, Omega. You posted things that I would have easily overlooked and not thought twice about. I'm a big bread eater (sandwiches, tortilla wraps) and love pasta so the challenge this week may be a bit tricky.

I did TONS of walking outside today. We went to the BBQ Fest and ate lots of bad food--gyros (this is the only time of year that I can find a good gyro around), sausages, funnel cake, fried Oreos, fresh sweet lemonade. I was very bad as far as eating went, but we walked up and down that street for well over an hour this afternoon and then I took my dog out to walk for another 30 minutes as well when we got home. So the exercise points are in the bag.

I'm not doing too well on the water, though :( but that's no surprise. I have a really hard time getting in 3 liters of water when I'm away from home for hours at a time. And I really don't want to eat another meal for the mini-challenge points after all that bad (but soooooo delicious) stuff I ate today. I suppose if I do happen to get hungry later on, I'll drink a SlimFast to replace a meal and get those mini-challenge points for no starchy carbs while still not taking in a godawful amount of calories.

Belinda - fortunately we only have to keep away from starchy carbs for one meal a day
Eat 1 meal a day (any meal) where you have no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes or cereal. 3 points per day.

The list was later expanded to cover all starchy carbs... Hopefully you will be able to identify one meal a day when it isn't too onerous.

I certainly find that I am better off without them (mad as it seems given my current rate of weight loss!!!) I believe that quite a lot of people on Cohen's are told that they should avoid them too - so I suspect that Mands is well into the habit of not having them.

Well done on all your exercise...

As predicted - my Saturday exercise was high... My pedometer step count was 32,481. I had 2.5 litres of water while I was at SalSebado... That added to the 2 litres of water that I had over the rest of the day.

I didnt have any starchy carbs all day long...

My food over the whole day was
grapes
2 pears
1 tin apricots
500ml Greek yoghurt
1 grilled lamb steak
baked veg (courgette, red onion, peppers, cherry tomatoes)
garlic mushrooms

Unfortunately I didn't get all my water in yesterday, but that's really no surprise. Like I said before, it's really difficult for me to get in that much water when I'm not at home with a bottle of water constantly in my hand and a bathroom nearby at all times. I also didn't get the mini-challenge points.

I spent 4 hours washing and waxing my car by hand this morning. Anyone who's waxed a car knows how that kills your arms. So I'm definitely counting that as my exercise. I'm also about to push-mow the yard and that will add more walking.

It's almost 2 PM and I still haven't had a meal so I haven't had a chance to get in the mini-challenge points. I'm trying to think of something that doesn't incorporate breads or potatoes and all I'm coming up with is a quick salad or a full meal. I didn't realize how many starchy carbs I've been eating until now.

EDIT: Also, I weighed myself this morning after eating all that stuff yesterday and found I only gained 1/2 pound. My husband, on the other hand, ended up being FOUR pounds heavier than yesterday morning :p While he's lost way, way more than I have since we've started, I've found if we have an "off" day, he's the one who gains way more.

All points yesterday. Mini-challenge points were done this morning. I'm going out of town, but I'm going to try really hard to get in 3L of water before the day is done. I'll be doing plenty of walking indoors and outdoors today so I'll get the exercise points easily.

All points again yesterday. The water is getting more and more tough each day. I'm about sick of it.

Mini-challenge points done already this morning.

Just stopping by for a quick update before bed. I've been super busy these past two days. All points for yesterday and today. Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Mini challenge for next week, as set by Justina:

My mini challenge is to have 2 portions of different raw vegetables a day for a point each.
Total points to be earned a day: 2 points (one for each portion)
One portion = half cup
Suggestions: salads, vegetable with dips (hummus) or just plain vegetables on their own as snack (carrots)
Only fresh vegetables count (no pickles, no tinned vegetables, no defrosted & no cooked vegetables)

Had a busy day. Got a 30-minute walk in and 2L of water in. This weekend is going to be super busy. My husband is on vacation starting now and we have lots of plans so I don't expect to get full points many days out of the coming week.
