Weight-Loss WLF Team Challenge - Team SUCCESS!

Weight-Loss
Sorry for not posting here - but have been really busy over the past few days. Today is Rod's birthday so we have been doing quite a lot of celebrating with different friends.

Well done for all those great days...

I got max points for last week.

I had at least 3 litres of water every day.

My pedometer was over 15,000 steps every day (which is about 7.5 miles)... This is because I did some walking every day plus zumba on sat, mon, wed (not fri as we were out with friends)
we did salsa on sat and tues
I did aerobics on mon

My only starchy carbs during the whole week were
tues & thurs dinner when I licked the spoon after serving Rod some mashed potato
fri when I had a small piece of freshly baked bread at a restaurant and a little potato with the meal that I was eating at the time...
I happily claim the points because there was certainly no starchy carbs at my other meals on those days... I have such a lot of meals of fruit and yoghurt that are free of starchy carbs...

I've had a good challenge day today.

3 litres of water drank.
1 hr salsa
1 hr zumba
30 mins walking

1 large celery stick and 2 tomatoes gives me max mini challenge points.

Despite a busy weekend, I managed to get all points. Tons of walking both yesterday and today, lots of water as well, and I'm about sick of salad after this weekend lol. Raw lettuce in salads both days along with carrots for snacks to get the mini-challenge points. This week is going to be busy. Thursday I'm going to be out of town taking my daughter to a specialist and don't foresee me getting the full exercise or water points. Friday we're holding a yardsale, so I don't see me getting the exercise points then, either; just lots of sitting and watching people buy stuff. But I'll be home, so I'll get the water points for sure.

Good luck to my team this week.

Well done Belinda for more max point days.

I can understand how you will drop those points this week.

I have to say - I am not fond of raw veg myself. Salad is ok when the weather is hot - but Saturday was a day of torrential rain and Sunday has not been great weather.

I struggled - but finally got my 3 litres of water.
For raw veg I had a tomato, some cucumber and a large stick of celery. There would probably be a portion of each by the half cup portion sizes...

I did plenty walking... My pedometer got up to 23,046 steps.

Monday
======
3.5 litres water
2 hrs zumba
tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber
*max points*

Tuesday
======
2.5 litres water -- really tired so went to bed early and hadnt finished my last half litre of water
3 salsa classes plus outdoor walking
celery, tomato
*dropped 1 point*

Updated my scoresheet. It's been a brutally busy week and I did the best I could under the circumstances. I'm surprised I've only gained 0.4 pounds considering all the exercise I did was walking, lifting heavy boxes, and mowing my front lawn. I haven't even bothered counting calories this week, that's how busy I've been. And I ate fast food several times. I haven't even looked to see what this week's mini-challenge is.

5/25: 3 water points, 2 exercise points, 2 mini-challenge points
5/26: 3 water points, 2 exercise points, 2 mini-challenge points
5/27: 2 water points, 1 exercise point, 2 mini-challenge points
5/28: 2 water points, 1 exercise point, 2 mini-challenge points
5/29: 3 water points, 2 exercise points, 2 mini-challenge points
5/30: 3 water points, 1 exercise point, 0 mini-challenge points
5/31: 2 water points, 2 exercise points, 2 mini-challenge points

Water: 18
Exercise: 11
Mini-Challenge: 12

Finally an update from me.

Belinda - well done on managing to get the points that you got on such a busy week. Things have been pretty busy here too... Rod is a firm believer in spending the whole month of May celebrating!!! His birthday is in May and our name is May... It tends to make May a pretty mad month...

Finishing off last week
I got max points on Thursday.
Friday was so busy that I forgot to have some raw veg... I had plenty cooked veg - but missed the mini challenge points... The water drinking and exercise was fine...

Saturday saw weighing - and a bit of a relief to see no gain... No loss either - but no gain is pretty good for a birthday week...

Saturday:
I drank over 4 litres of water
I did tons of exercise...
As far as the mini challenge is concerned - it isnt certain that I did over 30 minutes of outdoor walking... Possibly just under - at least 25 minutes - but maybe 30 maybe not... I am claiming the points anyway as I certainly did plenty of extra exercise...
We started the day with an hour of salsa.
Then we did about 15 minutes of outdoor walking - before an hour of zumba...
Later in the day we went to a salsa event about 40 miles away... We had to walk a bit to and from the car - so as I say - I might have got the extra 15 minutes done then...
At the event we did a Cuban salsa rueda class and then social dancing...

This was the event!!!

We did tons of dancing and the event was certainly doing something "extra".

Sunday
3 litres of water ok
Plenty of outdoor walking (we drove up to the border area and walked in the grounds of Paxton House

Finally got around to update for the first time this new week. I checked out the new mini-challenge; does anyone know how many points it's for? I don't think it was specifically stated.

We opened our pool last week and we've been working on getting the water cleared up. I spent not quite an hour in it yesterday and I'm ready to burn the thing to the ground  I'll be spending a lot of time in it this summer because of my daughter (she loves the water), even when it's cold like it was yesterday.

Anyway, I don't think my updates will be as frequent as they were when she was in school--she's on the go all day long and by the time she finally settles down, I'm exhausted myself.

Right, we have apparently lost 4 more people from the challenge, leaving two teams at the bare minimum of three members.

I also noticed that all the Team threads are only frequented by one or two people, if even that, and are otherwise dead.

The idea of the challenge was for it to be a Team challenge, and that simply isn't happening at all.

I am not sure what caused that, and I have no idea how to change it. It seems little less than posting everybody's stats once a week, and threads like that already exist, so there is no need to do it here as well.

With that in mind, I am ending this challenge right here and now. I don't have the time or energy to put into something that most people don't really seem interested in anymore, and that seems to be entirely failing at its purpose.

Thank you to everybody who was part of it, I'm grateful you stuck around as long as you did. You all did well, and hopefully the challenge did something useful for you as long as it was active.

Wow. I cannot express how disappointed I am.

San, I can understand ending the challenge because people are dropping out. I cannot understand adding something about the lack of people posting on their team threads. People have lives outside the Interwebz. I know I do. Some people just don't have the time or energy to post at the end of every day. You shouldn't penalize people because they're not posting often enough. Just saying. There are still some people and only a few more weeks left in this challenge.

Belinda - if you want to keep on going - our team can keep on going - working hard and chatting here...

Monday and Tuesday were maximum points for me.

I did plenty of outdoor walking on Wednesday (the day the challenge had ended) and exercise - but have to admit that I only had 2.5 litres of water (the recommended quantity for my weight).

The comment about the lack of posting was not about 'posting enough', it was about the fact that there are people not posting at all, and the teams basically not interacting whatsoever. If this was an individual challenge then that would be fine. In any case - I do know that people have a life outside the internet, so do I. And a quite hectic one to boot. That's why I don't have the energy to devote to something that most people are quite clearly no longer interested in.

And I'm not penalizing anybody. It's a tiny challenge on a weight loss forum, not the end of the world. People are not suddenly going to stop doing what they are doing just because the challenge is ending. Especially since the mini-challenges were constantly bemoaned anyway, I'm sure some are glad that those are over.

If you want to continue the challenge, by all means, it's yours. Maybe you should try and run it, just to get an idea of how frustrating it can be. I could go into a full blown rant about the frustrating parts, but I won't. Let's just say that I am not made to run challenges, and will take this experience as a hint that in future, I should keep myself to myself.

Yeah - I wouldn't mind finishing the challenge either :D . There is not much to it in terms of admin. - especially with only a handful of people left. We can just keep updating the threads & see how much weight we lost by the end of it - even without the mini-challenge.

Maybe "It's a tiny challenge on a weight loss forum, not the end of the world" but some people did commit to see this through - and have been around 100%.
People who wish to drop out it's their right - b/c they are busy/have problems, etc. I totally understand by the way.

The rest of us could continue, right? Only a few weeks left.

I will say (as a newer member to this forum) the way this was handled--the manner in which this was terminated early--speaks a lot about this forum to new members.

Omega, I'll keep up drinking godawful amounts of water and doing the exercise and the (if no one is going to pick, my own personal ones) mini-challenges. I joined this forum and this team challenge because it's so easy for me to quit--I did quit last time I tried to lose weight. I find the support of this forum (while lacking in some members) incredibly helpful and it sets a good example when people are encouraging, not discouraging or quitting. This challenge started out with pushing ourselves. The finish line is just a few weeks away.

Right - that decides it...

The challenge continues... I'll pick up the admin...

I'll post something on the main thread.

San - we fully understand. You have a lot going on (and are very busy even when you have nothing extra going on). It can get disheartening when people drop out too...

Feel free to come back to the challenge if you think it may help.

The challenge will continue on an individual basis.

We are therefore going to abandon these team threads and all pile into the main thread to chat and cheer each other on.

People that have left the challenge are welcome to rejoin.
New people are certainly welcome.

I will apply a points credit to give them some points for the missing weeks based on 80% of the average points achieved by other players at that time... They need not fear being miles behind people that have played all along.
The fact that it is not 100% gives a reward to people who have stuck with the challenge all along and worked hard but dropped a few points here and there...
