Weight-Loss WL competition: TEAM VICTORY

Weight-Loss
I updated as well..not as big of a loss as I'd hoped, but with 'tom' and all...anyways...I'm really suprised how many members of our team are not posting...or maybe they've dropped out. Never an update from Monster and only an initial weigh in from jericho...hum...well anyways...the remaining members here...we've got our work cut out for us! Lets rock it ok??

There is always a way of apportioning the points to deal with people that drop out - just like we use on uneven teams...

Every person still in this challenge has every incentive to earn points by losing weight, exercise and nutrition.

Hey guys I am not going to drop out of this challenge so please do not think so even if I post a little late...my life is crazy chaotic these days and I have little time to do the things I enjoy. This past week was AWFUL for me and I did not get to the gym even once. I did not weigh yesterday but I can weigh now...I hope it will still count. ~Tasha~ don't feel bad about .4 the end product is what matters!

Xenon - All weighings (Friday or Saturday) count as much as each other... The only key weighing is at the very end when the whole start to finish weight loss and associated points can be calculated...

I'm sorry that you have had an AWFUL week. Remember - you do not need to get out to the gym to get some valuable exercise done... Valuable for the challenge points - but also for your good health (both physical and mental)... Lots of research shows that people find that they feel happy if they exercise because of the way our brains work with all sorts of things like endorphins and seratonin meaning that a load of mood enhancers get released... The weight loss benefits of exercise are obvious... all about burning calories and building muscles that burn calories better...

As I say - I can fully see how you could be too busy to get to the gym... Maybe you can pop out for a brisk 20 minute walk at lunchtime... If you were to incorporate an extra 5 minutes of walking in both your morning and evening travel routine... All these changes may appear minor to you - but they would definitely help you control your weight and may even help you deal with the things that are keeping you busy... As a bonus you would be able to claim the point for 30 minutes of exercise every day that you did it. :)

Thanks so much Omega. This past week was hell for me and I feel like my life is a glorious mix of crap and more crap with a little more crap in between :D Thanks for the tips though, I will try to incorporate them if I have any more times like this!

Scale said 275 flat today ..so that is a 0.4lb loss for me. I am sorry about this week team, i am hoping for a better week next week.

Xenon - I'm so sorry about all the crap...

As I see it - you have nothing to apologise to your team about a 0.4 pound loss in such a week... Heck - I often get that in a good week... Think about this - you did really well to get a weight loss in a week where crap was the best word for it...

You can see how far up from goal (that I was supposed to be maintaining) I have got myself... Let me assure you - I gained and gained gloriously on my last really crap week... I didn't even have the courage to weigh myself until a few weeks later when I had the chance to gain some more...

Mands you did AWESOME! Congrats on such a wonderful weight loss!

Omega thank you so much for all of your encouragement and all of the time you are investing in this nutcase! lol

I agree with Xenon, Mands got excellent weight loss last week. :iagree: Another person for me to be jealous of... :)

Mands - Well done!

Xenon - You are welcome to the encouragement. You encourage me too.:hug2:

Hey Guys, thanx for the shout out last week. This week not sooo great, only lost 2.2lbs (1kg). But I'll take it. A loss is a loss!!

That is AWESOME Mands!

Well team unfortunately this weeks weigh in coincided with TOM for me so I have a slight gain -_- I am so pissed off

The week that we are currently doing has a mini challenge of quiet deep breathing for 10 minutes every day.

Thought long and hard on this one, it's quite easy, but very difficult to accomplish.

10 UNINTERRUPTED minutes of PROPER deep breathing.

2 pts for 10 minutes
1 pt for 5 minutes, that's it.
No other fractions, 6,7,8 minutes is still ONLY 1 point. Anything less than 5 minutes = 0.

Uniterrupted means exactly that, NO RADIO, NO TV, NO PHONES, nothing just deep breathing to center ourselves.

It seems easy, but its very hard to do. First you have to find the time to do this uninterrupted, usually this calls for waking up before the household.

Get into the most comfortable position that you can sitting up and go for it. It is very beneficial to the well-being of the complete body.

The challenge that starts on Friday has not been posted yet.

It got posted here

http://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/56792-Who-would-be-interested-in-a-WL-competition/page24

The person who lost the most pounds in the week that ended on Friday will be asked to post the next one that starts on the coming Friday.

I know that Steve lost 3.4 pounds last week - so he may well be posting the next mini challenge... It all depends whether anyone lost more that didnt post their weight initially...

Hey Ladies, weight updated a 2.6lbs loss. I didn't have any points for the challenge as I didn't know where the challenge gets posted. But Omega gave me the link and I saw it was meditation for the week, which I've done none of as I don't ever stop.

Hope we all had a good week!

Here is the mini challenge that starts today.
Hmm, hopefully this isn't against any unwritten rules! :D

Thought I'd try something different this week! The mini-challenge is....

Many Mini Challenges! bwahahaha! :reddevil:

So for this week, a total of 10 points can be earnt (No more!) No specific days per challenge.

1 point for trying a new fruit/veg you've never had before (4 items - 4 points total)
2 points for writing up a whole days food log into your relevant teams thread (2 days - 4 points total)
3 points for replacing your two daily drive/cycle to XYZ location with a nice walk (2 times - 6 points total)
4 points for uploading a picture of yourself at your heighest weight, and current weights (Obviously can obscure faces etc if you want) (1 set - 4 points total)

Hopefully that makes sense, and no-one is currently wanting to kill me! :D

As an example, Mr Bob eats 3 new fruits, walks twice to work, and and uploads a picture, and gets 10 points! (3+3+4).

Feel free to mix/match as you want, any 10 points worth is usable :) And it doesn't need to be huge items, not asking anyone to replace a 40mile drive with walking etc lol :D Just trying to get threads a bit more active! *pokes Platinum/Victory*

Steve

a bit of discussion is going on about the walking aspect with a potential stepcount / distance option for those that drive long distances or do not drive at all...

the fruit / veg has been modified to be a fruit / veg that you have not had in the last two years if you have had just about everything you can get hold of...

Great job Mands!!

You know, team victory...we havn't done that great yet. BUT theres still another MONTH in the challenge!! Lets try to go out strong and really give everyone a run for their money?!?!?!
