Weight-Loss WL competition TEAM GOLD

Weight-Loss
Thanks Omega, I really have not been paying that much attention to Sodium.

I realized a while back that I have had some high Sodium/low Fiber days, but I just brushed it off because at least I was in my caloric limit.:svengo:

I think what I am going to do is for the next few days continue doing as I am now, and logging the foods with high sodium, and days of low fiber, and then start changing my eating habits where I lower my total Sodium intake and increase my over Fiber, even if it means taking a few fiber tablets... I read somewhere that maybe I need to increase my protein intake, that protein helps build the muscles and maybe that's what I need more muscles.

Just spent the last hour researching this over and over on the net, and I don't know if I can increase my exercise by much more as I am writing this my abs and legs are so sore from this mornings exercise.

Did I mention that my clothes are still feeling a little looser, but dang the scale is not moving, that's what pissing me off... so I guess I better do better and find a new way because I still have about 75lbs more to go before I reach my goal, I don't mind if I get within 10lbs of my goal and keep yo-yoing, but 75lbs is ridiculous...:nopity:

Sodium really held me back from getting to goal... I reckon that I would have got to goal about 10 or 11 months earlier than I did if I had only paid more attention to my sodium...

I knew that I was sensitive to sodium - but I had done spot checks and my sodium had been fine so I stopped checking... I had lost so much weight that I assumed that if I was basically doing much the same as before the sodium level would be ok... I was eating a repetitive diet and it had varied so little since the previous checks...

The killer changes:

I had started eating more vegetable soup at the suggestion of the leaders at both Weight Watchers and Slimming World (their main competitor in England)... I knew that the calories were fine for where I had slotted it into my food plan... The killer was the stock cube... It is really high in sodium although low in calorie...

I had been recommended to try a Slimming World approved butcher... There are various such places... They sell a range of meat things where the items are made to very specific recipes. The only meat that they use is absolutely lean in these products and they do not pad it out with breadcrumbs or other rubbish that can harm the project... It was marvellous in a long term project to suddenly be able to have burgers and sausages that had been banned until then... It never occurred to me that they could be high in sodium... It was only when I was calculating things out for a challenge that I spotted that I had no idea of the sodium level...

I axed the totally lean sausages and burgers and the soup so that I knew that the sodium would be ok and ensured that I drank enough water - and the 12 pounds just fell away.

Okay just checking in again, didn't make it to the fresh market this week, neither did I do anymore walking, but I am determined to get my points in for the challenge so here is me at my heaviest, at least the heaviest I allowed photos to be taken, and me about the weight I am now probably minus one or two pounds...View attachment 20056View attachment 20057
Brown is before, Blue is now

Okay with this upload that should give me a total of 7+4=11 pts
So I claim my 10 points for this challenge.

oh yeah Omega, thanks for the head up, looks like I am going to have to start fixing my own food, dang but the sodium has a habit of creeping up on you, and it isn't even like the food was seasoned high. I paid special attention to what I ate yesterday and today, and even with the portions and calories, and avoiding certain foods on BOTH days I was over the 2500mg for sodium... have to do better, will have to drink alot of water to flush this out or I dread what the scales will say tomorrow.

Sorry guys me and my family have been sick this week. No so good on the exercise or challenges this week.

Here is my food log for today:
Breakfast - cereal with milk, water
Snack - apple and a skinny tall latte
Lunch - 1/2 egg salad wrap, fruit and veggies, sparkling fruit juice drink
Snack - banana and unsweetened tea
Supper - home made beef dip with cheese on a whole wheat bun, corn and cauliflower and water

I'm going to look for some before and after points to try and salvage my points for the week.

I too am at my plateau week - for me I think it is more mental.

Justina - well done

Ijustwannabefit - sorry to hear about you all having been ill. I hope that you are all better soon.

328 that's way up. Not much I can do about it at the moment. I'll try to keep the calories lower, but I'm getting physically trashed every day and I'm very hungry after.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well :(

Could you just confirm, as there wasn't an input on your chart for weight, only ex/chal, did you weigh-in this week? Just trying to update charts.

Thanks,
Steve

Me again, with another apology for slacking. This is the last time though, and here is the reason why:

I spent most of last week in hospital, and have been waiting for some test results ever since. Those test results were going to determine whether losing weight would be of any concern to me for quite a while, or if I could keep concentrating on that. It was quite nerve wrecking, so my motivation to do much of anything was pretty much zero. Now, I just got the call from my surgeon, and it's good news, so I can push all of that aside, and finally fully concentrate on this challenge, and on getting rid of these pounds. Again, I can only apologise for not keeping up and not updating my sheet etc.

Now - I have my food log in a book, but while in hospital, didn't have access to a computer, so I couldn't log it. Even though it's Saturday already, would I be allowed to log it all here, and still get the points? Same with the pictures - would I still be allowed to post them? If not, that's okay, but I thought it's worth asking.

Question about the new challenge - what are 100s? I am completely clueless.

And yes, I totally messed up my point sheet last time I updated, and put the mini challenge points in for the wrong week. I'll rectify that. Sorry.

Glad to hear everythings good! Personally I don't see why not, if you have it logged down already, but I'm sure Korrie will confirm :)

Check here: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/thre...ested-in-a-WL-competition?p=852610#post852610 I asked the exact same question :)

I'll ask. :)

Thanks for the link. I checked, but will have to look further into it, since none of those I've seen are doable for me. I've got two drainage tubes in my back right now, so anything that requires lying on my back is totally out of the question. I can walk fine, and move reasonably well, but trying those would surely land me back in hospital. I'll look around more and see if there is anything that requires lying on my side or something similar.

San - I'm sorry to hear about your serious health problems... You have done fantastically to log your food and give your weight loss ambitions and indeed the challenge any thought whatsoever over such a difficult time.

I see that Korrie has given a ruling that you can still claim those mini challenge points.

If you have food logs for two days - that it 4 points that you can claim. (2 points * 2)

If you have before and recent pics that you can post - that is another 4 points you can claim.

Have a think about the food that you have had over the past week.
There was a ruling that any fruit or vegetable that you havent had in the past 2 years would count if you are a seasoned challenge player... You most certainly fall into that category - I remember pushing your fruit and vegetable boundaries in that 2009 challenge where we all ate everything that we could think of...
Maybe the hospital food included something that you havent had recently... It could be worth a point... Just two of those would put you on maximum points!!!

I've asked Transparent whether another pilates exercise would be acceptable for people that are physically incapable of doing hundreds...

Thank you. I needed something to concentrate on, so I wouldn't go insane. So having my food log and things like that actually helped. I will find my notes, and the pictures, and post that first thing tomorrow, together with my updated score sheet. For now, I am incredibly tired...this day felt like one of the longest ones in my life, and the night before was even longer. Everything else tomorrow....:)

Hey San, sorry to hear you've been unwell. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Give your body what it needs to get better!

I didn't lose anything this week, again. Pretty sure I'm on track for next week though. I just need to ad up my mini challenge points and will update page 1 now. :) Sounds like some good results gold!

We all have weeks where we don't lose anything... that is life... The important thing is that we are ALL still trying. GOLD is the only team which hasn't lost any members and is still doing this as group. Korrie announced at the start that there would be a 30 point bonus for any team that managed to do that - but didnt mention it on the posting at the start of each team thread.

Pictures:

Right, I finally found those pictures. It won't be difficult to tell that I don't like my picture taken at all. The first one (sitting on the couch) was taken in 2008, before the first weight loss challenge, where I was at an all time high. I think it is a horrible picture, which was actually part of what set me off and got me to lose weight. The second picture was taken recently when I went to pick up our new car from the dealership. I had no idea there would be a picture taken, as you can see by my awful clothing. *lol*

My two food logs:

Monday, 25th of February
Breakfast:
- 2 slices of rye bread
- 1 slice of cooked ham
- 1 slice of Edam cheese
- 1 cup of coffee with milk and sweeteners
- 1 glass of water with a soluble vitamin C supplement

Lunch:
- Weight Watchers Chicken Hotpot
- 125 gr of plain greek yogurt with 50 gr of blueberries

Dinner:
- Chicken curry with sweetcorn and pineapple on brown rice
- 1 cup of low sugar white hot chocolate

Thursday, 28th of February
Breakfast:
- 1 white bread roll
- cream cheese
- small peach yogurt
- 1 cup of coffee with milk and sweeteners
- 1 glass of orange juice

Lunch:
- 1 banana
- 1 chcolate muesli bar

Dinner:
- Cottage pie with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes (it was absolutely awful hospital food, so I had only about two bites of it)
- vanilla yogurt
- white bread sandwich with 2 slices of cheese and some cucumber (I ate that because I didn't have much of the dinner, and was starving hungry)

Oh, and on Monday, I replaced my drive up to the doctor's office with a walk - 1.7 miles uphill on the way there, then the same back, only downhill. Quite a difference from walking on the treadmill!!

So....that's 4 points for the pictures, 4 points for the food logs, and 3 points for walking instead of driving, right? So that means 11 points....but I can get only 10. Do I have all of that right? Please feel free to correct me if I've got anything wrong. :)

I'll update my score sheet now.

San - you are right - max 10 points for the bonus done! Well done!

Since you did that walking - don't forget to claim some exercise points too.

You did brilliantly.

For the record - I dont think that there is anything wrong with your clothing in the recent picture. I really like that type of tunic and I think that the decoration at the neck is nice. You definitely look noticeably trimmer than the earlier picture. Well done for posting. Posting pictures always takes me an element of courage - I know it is not an easy task.

San!! You have done amazingly well! Thanks for sharing those pics! So inspirational!
I am glad you are out of the hospital! x
