Weight-Loss Who would be interested in a WL competition??

sooo. i raised the points for weight loss...should I lower the excersize...a point per 30 minutes? a point per hour??
 
hmmm to hep get an idea of point if you look at my minimum exercise per day of 2 hours

1 point per 15 min = 8 per day, 56 per week
1 point per 30 min = 4 per day, 28 per week
1 point per hour = 2 per day, 14 per week

so I would lean towards 1 point per hour but that may be to low for someone who struggles with exercise, 1 point per 30 minutes might be better.
 
The whole exercise points thing can be tricky.
Sometimes it is worth experimenting with a limit so that the people that spend hours a week doing exercise cannot get so many points that the weight loss aspect is barely noticeable...
It is all down to the decision of whether you want to reward people for doing more exercise...
I have used a 5 hour / week limit before...
 
well, I guess I"m just gonna have to make a choice because there's pros and cons either way. I really wanted to focus on weight loss with exercise being a bonus. I think maybe we will set a limit. I know dcts say you should get at least 30 minutes a day....so i dunno...lets do 1 point per half hour and then set a limit at 1 hour a day, since I doubt MOST of the members anyhow probably dont' get an hour a day...so those doing more than that will still get some extra points. I know I don't exercise at all...so I won't get very many points...but Trusylver will....i dont' know, is that ok with you guys??
 
I like 1 point per half hour and an hour limit. It's enough incentive for me to get my butt back in the gym, but with 5 points per % of weight loss the focus is still on losing. Also, when I first get back to weight lifting I usually gain or at least stop losing for a while. This point level will take the sting out of that phase. I'm excited!

Group 2 can count on me getting an hour of exercise points every day... I manage that on a bad day... Unfortunately - the weight loss is much less certain...
 
I think the limit is good and stops exercise being to dominant over the weight loss.
 
It looks like you have enough members, but I am really interested in joining this.. ah well... I will just have to follow your challenges and compete against you guys without actually being in the competition.

No excuses is my motto for 2013, so here goes nothing.

I go on long walks with my dad as a form of exercise - the low intensity, high duration kind of exercise. Does that count as exercise or not?

POINTS: You can give yourself FIVE points per percentage of weight lost. I think thats the only fair way to do it unless someone has a better idea. Also, I will assign one point for every 30 minutes of exercise each week, one hour a day limit!! Starting week TWO I will start giving a weekly mini challenge. This is a great way to keep your interest and motivation in this long challenge. you will be assigned points in the mini challenge. *more info to come at a later date*
