Weight-Loss Who would be interested in a WL competition??

Weight-Loss
The great thing about the "party games" extra tasks are that they are things that we can all do to enhance things... the sad fact is that we all hit times when for one reason or another the weight doesnt drop as quickly as we would like... Things like TOM make people gain water and therefore weight no matter how good they are... Some people find that weight loss is harder than for others (for instance I regularly dropped a stone a month when I was a very big lady but had difficulty in dropping a few pounds when I was near goal)... We are all different sizes and some of us will be able to drop for instance 2 pounds much easier than others of us...

It is more fair if we reward people for the work that they do to deserve weight loss rather than for the weight loss alone.

We generally used to give points for a weight loss element, but also for an exercise element and for a nutritional task element. The exercise element was often something of the order of 3 hours per week.

I'll link in one of my old challenges here to get a reminder of some of the nutritional tasks... things like 5-a-day, veg colour hitting, no junk, water drinking at allocation level, target hitting for the various macro nutrients (fibre, sodium, protein, calcium etc)...

this has some nutrition ideas from an old individual challenge...

lol that was the challenge where I encouraged pushing the vegetable boundaries like never before. :)

On the 10th I will create your group chat threads where you keep your scoresheet and chat to support each other! HOWEVER***DO NOT start chatting till everyone gets their score sheet up*** That way you can keep updating your original scoresheets...so I don't have to go through all the pages to find it...i will post weekly stats for all to see!!!

PRIZES: as stated earlier, WLF has committed to giving prizes to the winning team AND the overall biggest looser (who may or may not be from the winning team)

POINTS: You can give yourself FIVE points per percentage of weight lost. I think thats the only fair way to do it unless someone has a better idea. Also, I will assign one point for every 30 minutes of exercise each week, one hour a day limit!! Starting week TWO I will start giving a weekly mini challenge. This is a great way to keep your interest and motivation in this long challenge. you will be assigned points in the mini challenge. *more info to come at a later date*

You can use this percentage calculator:
or MANUALLY: Subract your current weight from your original weight Divide that number by original weight and multiply by 100. EX: 175-150=25/175=.14 14x100=14%
******* Can the group member that posts their scoresheet 1st...post that link in your scoresheet section so that we're all not coming back to find this post to get the link****

Just wondering but if I understand right, say for example I lose 3lb a week for a month (total 12lb) that'd be 4% lost, so 4 points (or 3 w/e based on rounding). Or I can do 1 hour excercise for 4 points?

Also that link your posted for me goes to:

Whoops! Can't Seem to Find that Particular Page!
Sorry, that page can't be found

Think it should be ?

Yea, your right. I need to give more points for % of loss. Do you think 5 points per percentage is good, or should we do more???

Thanks! I have a hard time with links for some reason....I'll try to put it in right.

If we do 5 points per % than if you did a 4% loss...you'd get 20 points and then 4 points still if you do an hour of exercise...does that sound better?

Aye, sorry wasn't trying to be a pain, was just wondering :)

And link seems to work now, hurrah!

Will there be any specific weigh-in times, or can it be anytime on the days? Just thinking with timezones etc.

Steve

no! your not a pain at all! I'm glad you brought that to my attention. I'm serious when I say I want input. I wasn't being sarcastic, do you think the 5 points per percentage point sound better?? No, no specific weigh in times, just whenever you first get it is best.

I think the exercise points are still to high, as someone who spends a lot of time training I would end up with huge numbers for points out weighing any losses I may have.
