Weight-Loss Who would be interested in a WL competition??

Weight-Loss
LOL - pilates isnt so much about cardio fitness... more about getting on a yoga mat and putting yourself slowly in funny positions, breathing in a set way and holding your core muscles in a set way too...

Anyway - I thought those exercises were called burpees... they were called that when I was at school in the 1970s...

Oh ok - it was on the previous page actually (for me). i thought you guys just discussing something unrelated above..

I think it was a combination of a few things into one, then renamed as always :)

It was on this page, but I moved the charts so it went back a page! :) Blame me. Hehe

Hello, quick question....I was out of commission (in hospital) for most of last week. I had no computer access, but logged my food in a notebook. Would it be okay for me to post it now and still get the point for the challenge, or is it too late? And the same goes for pictures, could I still post them?

A question for Transparent:

Bearing in mind the fact that San is physically incapable of doing any exercise that involves lying on your back - is there an alternative pilates exercise that could be done to earn the points?

Thanks for the link. I checked, but will have to look further into it, since none of those I've seen are doable for me. I've got two drainage tubes in my back right now, so anything that requires lying on my back is totally out of the question. I can walk fine, and move reasonably well, but trying those would surely land me back in hospital. I'll look around more and see if there is anything that requires lying on my side or something similar.

I dont see why not....are you ok?

Thanks. And I'm okay - now. I went to see the doctor because the pain in my back wasn't getting any better. He sent me straight to hospital, convinced that I had done serious damage to my spine. I'd been walking around in the morning, by the time I arrived in the hospital I had lost feeling in one leg and couldn't stand anymore. They x-rayed me, scanned me, and then injected something, then scanned me again. The scans weren't conclusive, but one of the surgeons was convinced that there was a fracture. If that had been true, it would have meant extensive surgery and 6 - 12 months of not being able / allowed to walk. They found a lot of fluid and a slipped disc, but couldn't determine straight away whether there was any more damage. They put two drains in my back to allow the fluid to drain, then injected me again with a contrast solution, and scanned again. They released me to go home on Friday night, since I was able to walk properly again and wasn't in serious pain anymore, but I was told to get out of the car, into bed, and to stay there until they called me on Saturday (today). When the call came, they told me that there was no fracture, 'just' a slipped disc and a damaged nerve. I will need to be careful, not lift anything heavy, not do anything that puts strain on my back, and the drains need to stay in until Tuesday, but other than that, I got the all clear. TLC and pain medication should be enough to handle it and get back onto my feet properly. So yeah...I'm okay. Pain and that kind of stuff I can deal with, but not knowing what was going to happen, and whether I might end up in a wheelchair was absolute torture.

Wow san thats some scary stuff! Im glad your ok and I hope theres no long term issues! keep following up with a dct

San - that must have been extremely frightening for you. Even resting your back will be difficult since you have a disabled child to look after. GOLD is very lucky to have you still trying hard to remain in the challenge despite such extreme adversity.

Looking at the different teams bring a number of questions in mind for Korrie.

While San has struggled to remain in the challenge despite extreme adversity - other teams have been depleated by the challenge.

1/ Please confirm that the 30 point bonus for any team with no drop-outs at the end is still part of the points structure.

Well ok, if they didn't have an opinion then the majority rules...I just hope that this isnt' a sign that people won't even show up on day one. Why dont' you guys try to touch base with the members of your group if you have not heard from them.

ALSO TEAM TWO.....(GOLD TEAM?) ....PLEASE WELCOME JUSTINA IN YOUR GROUP!!!

***** JUST IN!!!***** I've decided to award the team that finishes the challenge with ALL their members an extra 30 points for their groups total!!!!

2/ Now that one team has dwindled to quite possibly only one member such that he is quipping about posting in his team thread although no-one will read or reply - is Korrie planning to rejoin her original team to give him a team member to speak to.

http://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/56959-WL-competition-TEAM-PLATINUM/page8

Even though I'll be talking to myself, guess I better remember to post here! :D

3/ Alternatively, if the PLATINUM and VICTORY teams are combined - it is quite possible that the points would need to be scaled upwards to bring their membership up to the GOLD level.

I don't mind about the teams really Omega :) You won't get rid of me that easily! :reddevil:

Still here, and still going strong, just meant that when I talk generally I steal one of your threads rather than platinums :D As you may notice I'm not that posty anyway! lol

Just seems a bit late to start rejigging teams again.

Steve - my goal was 30 lbs - not that it's gonna happen anyway...I had one really bad week.:blush5:
Can you pls update it? Thank you! :D

Thanks! yep i changed it the beginning of the challenge - I realized I miscalculated it...For some reason I thought the challenge wd run until May. So I mixed up my personal challenge with the 10 week one.

Thanks again :)

I guess that was because Korrie initially said in some threads that the challenge would go on until May when she did a typo...

If you were going by the post in your team threads, your right, i put may, but i corrected it :)
