Article of the Day ~ TESTOSTERONE NATION - Long Live Your Bench

Thanks for this one CCR, its a basic kick in the face ya know. Balance is key, and its hard to reverse the effects of imbalances.

Well I got my "anchor" system setup out back. I basically bought four eye hooks and attached them to two posts. This will allow me to attach my bands for a sturdy base.

So Saturday I got acquainted with resistance band training. I did:

A few sets of forward walking, bkwd walking, side steps.
Then 5x10 of chest press, rows, and squats with front low resistance.
Followed by 3x10 of bent over rows (mimic pullup), overhead press, and front resistance lunges.
Then 3x10 of low to high woodchoppers and twists.

I have two posts set up with two attachment points each. Two at chest level and two about 3" off the ground. The two posts form a sort of upside down L. These are set up in the back yard parking area. The low points are used for squats, lunges, and oh presses. Once I get a belt, then I can do squats with resistance from any direction, and easier walking, side stepping drills.

I was slightly sore today, but definitely nothing major. I used my weakest resistance bands and started from the basic stances and progression levels.

Today I went to Point Pleasant to chill at the beach. Ate a nice ice cream waffle, a pretzel as big as my head, and a hamburger. Yum.

I want to know you do the same kind of sadistic grueling workouts that you set your clients ;)
 
Haha. I certainly would if I had the same amount of time that they did. I basically now have 1 day (Sunday) for the gym, so I will be doing other forms of training to substitute (band, "underground").

If I had 4-5 days to hit the gym, Id be trying to up my dead and squat for sure!!

Ok here ya go. This is what I have been doing lately. Here is todays workout also.

A1: Deadlift 1x6@245, 1x4@245, 1x6@245
A2: Clean & Press with 25lb plate 1x10, 2x12
to shoulder, then shoulder press
A3: DB High Pull 3x10@55
A4: Pullup 1x6, 1x5, 1x4
B1: Lunge with reach 2x10@30
cable machine: hold cable in hand and lunge forward and reach to pulley, really emphasizes deceleration control
B2: Pushup on stability 3x10
B3: OH Shrug 3x10@85

Working like this has really been serious. I feel like I am going to throw up usually. The A is one circuit and the B is a second circuit. Today was the first day I used a plate for the C & P. I usually do db snatch at 3x10@50, which is going up and up each week.
