Thoughts on men wearing spandex / lycra running tights

i have just start going for a run in the morning but i did not have anything to wear running so i when out brought some Lycra running tights wow they are the best things i wish i could wear them all the time

I used to wear the baggy swim trunks, but my swim coach recommended I go with the long (i.e., not the mankini style) trunks and I feel sexy in them. Occasionally, at the YMCA, I go directly from the pool to an exercise bike inside for tri training and put a sleeveless, long shirt over it that goes to about groin level and feel fine.

Yep....that's me too. Definitely a long shirt that runs down fairly well below the waist. Nike makes some great muscle-shirts with a slight shoulder detail and it runs long like a basketball jersey! Aasics has some nice stuff too.

Try some triathlon shorts...the crotch padding is about half the thickness & diaper-density of regular riding shorts. The moderate padding obscures groin "definition", offers some nice padding for the bike and you won't feel it while swimming. Regular jammers have a liner, but it's worthless on the bike and is still a bit too revealing (IMHO) to be worn outside the pool.

Funny....try swimming in your regular trunks again; feels like you're being dragged by a big blanket. Same bulky feeling when you try to ride in 'em too.

Feeling "sexy" in them? Well....woman love legs too and cyclist tend to have cut legs. And maybe it's just me, but I think our chest & upper bodies look bigger & stronger when, comparatively, our legs aren't bulky-looking with typical shorts. Eh, it is what it is. :D

I wonder where I-Love-Muscles weighs in on this??? ;) :D

I think men that wear anything skin tight look awesome. Trisuits, wetsuits, jammers, wrestling singlets, compression shorts ... it's super eye candy for chicks :action2:

Heck, I like tight jeans and a tight T-shirt on a guy, too :p

Skin tight and sleek/shiny -- TOTALLY hot! CAVEAT: Not every guy pull this look off and get away with it.

My boyfriend can carry off this look because (a) he's not a show-off (he's very shy); and (b) he has a body that doesn't quit. Lycra only serves to enhance what he's already got going on. So does neoprene. Actually, he pretty much looks good in anything.

Obviously he doesn't go shopping in this stuff. However, no guy has EVER said anything derogatory to him about his choice of workout wear. Even if it was neon pink, blue and green with flowers on it :D

Life sucks when women only want you for your body.

I work as a lifeguard. The different responses I get being in street clothes (read: shirt) and work clothes (read: shorts only) is significant. Too bad I have a ****ty personality and am not very rich :D

The ladies love the lifeguard uniform. Its the best outfit I have

WRT lifeguards, I think it goes way beyond the outfit (although that's hot!).

Lifeguards SAVE people lives. They are like doctors and firemen (which women also like, although they do not wear skin tight gear).

So for women, it's not just the fact lifeguards have great physiques and wear cool outfits. It's the fact that you have chosen a sideline/career where you are an authority figure that has compassion for your fellow human being. That combination is TOTALLY hot.

Steve, I did some research on tri shorts and they all have Lycra (Spandex) - the stuff that doesn't hold up to chlorine. (Make sure you use only Polyester in the pool, e.g., Speedo Endurance). But, yeah, I like tri shorts now better than bike shorts because they are a little shorter and I don't need the bike padding anymore. I guess I have destroyed my @ss nerves from riding over the years.

But pool attire is much different from gym attire.

Once again proving why I love this woman so much....:D

I recently read an article where the lady/author goes into detail about how she's noticed how men's cycling gear is just about the only place men have when it comes to being fashionable, wearing body-form revealing stuff and accessorizing. I didn't give it much thought until I realized that I have a blue/grey helmet with blue gloves, blue accented sunglasses and the blue cycling shorts & blue-themed jersey as well. And I have an older/spare red-helmet with red gloves, red/black shorts, red-accented sunglasses and a red/black jersey. LOL: I went with black/grey shoes so they work with anything. What can I say, it's fun looking sharp on the trail and the guys in the bike store tell me how most people really spend a good deal of time choosing their outfits.

But yeah....I only "wear" when I'm riding, swimming or doing my sports. Never as routine/regular clothing.

Richard....the TYR brand Jammers, I think it's some kind of nylon-lycra blend. Either way, I've swam in heavily chlorinated gym pools for quite some time and the suits just won't show any signs of wearing....but they have no crotch pad for "genital discretion" or the bike saddle. :D

Ya know, I've gone on 4 hour rides and the padding in the tri-shorts do just fine...but my seat (which is relatively small/race-oriented) has a bit of that "gel" in it. I find it's best to have 2/3's the padding in the shorts and 1/3 the padding in the seat. Either way, when I wear a bib or regular riding shorts, the padding feels like intense sponge-diapering....it just feels a bit thick and as if you have a beaver-tail floppin' off the back-end! :)

I just think it's funny...there was a time when I'd not be caught dead wearing cycling shorts, but once you ride in them....you just can't go back; too comfortable and functional....and it's kinda funny watching woman trying to be discrete when they're eyein' ya. Men with just stare at a woman, but women so prefer to be discrete about it.

It's life...ya gotta have fun :beerchug:

very interesting.
how about superheroes in tights like superman, batman, or spiderman?
do they look attractive to you?

wow...
then, in that latex and leather suit you must look like some kind of sexy villainess. :)

Yep. I will admit my gear was very effective. I don't usually mix the two up. Saturday evening I did. The contrast of a shiny black latex with matte black leather was quite nice. I hit two nails on the head with that outfit :)

BTW, in answer to your question, yes, men/women can look good in spandex but only if they have the body to carry it off. I hate to say it, but most people don't. And most men won't wear spandex/lycra because they think it's gay. It's not. There's nothing wrong with it whatsoever. It's comfortable and essentially should feel like a second skin.

Tarzan. So...loincloth. But I also had a huge leopard stuffed animal that I cut up and used as a pelt. If I find out how to put these pics on the comp I might post pics.
