The time has come

Things at the house are good. Once spring rolls in we have some stuff to do (painting some trim that's peeling/cracking, insulation in the attic, capping off sprinklers so we can put in a large vegetable garden).
This winter has kept me busy with snow removal.

Today is a leg workout after work. Also went running the other day (I loathe running) and actually did better than I expected. I'm not built for running and usually get instant shin splints and short of breath, but I did very well. I'm inspired to keep running now, at least once a week, as part of my cardio program.

Also when the gym isn't busy, I steal the bench bar and do deadlifts in the corner. So far management hasn't bitched at me.

I hear ya. Things around here have officially screwed up my workouts. Been trying to get things back into some sort of normalcy and get back to it. Do have a few plans for some DYI stuff as well. Love doing that stuff....lol

I've been trying to find other ways to get my cardio in. Hubby and I have one of those Wii things. After almost a year, we finally hooked the damn thing up. Maybe an alternative for my lazy days :D

Wii Fit is an ok workout. If you buy it be sure you're buying the Wii Fit Plus version...its got more 'stuff' to do and better routines.
We had to do a bit of Fit during the snowstorms and arctic temperatures the last month.

Are you in the middle of all that snow? Yeah, I wouldn't have been going out side either :)

Good to know about the plus :) I don't expect too much, but at least it will be better than not doing any cardio..lol I've been so horrible about cardio of late that I really need to find an alternative to incline on the treadmill. I bought a jump rope too.

We have Wii sports at the moment, so I am playing the different games trying to get accustom to using it. So far golf is the easiest I must say.

If nothing else we can use it on those cold days.......:D

Its finally warming up here! It might hit 40F today! We had -26F windchills last week.

its a wet mess outside though. Still, I got to the gym last night for a leg thrashing, and this morning was some elliptical.

The whole climate changes is so drastic it, you'd think the US moved to the Arctic! :)

Glad to hear your weather is getting better. We have our usual rain....haven't gotten a stitch of snow here this year, and this late, we probably won't......

I started a new supplement last night. Results by atlargenutrition.com

its creatine monohydrate, beta alanine, some B vitamins, dextrose, and HMB. we'll see how I feel once I am on it a few weeks, vs just creatine mono + dextrose.

Be careful of that Beta Alanine, it can cause some serious tingling especially in the hands and hot flashes at high doses.

full body workout tonight. didn't go so well as my left knee started acting up. this is the knee i injured years and years ago on heavy leg press and its never really fully recovered. normally it feels great to squat on it but this new gym only has smith squat station, and while last leg workout it was fine, today it was feeling 'tweaked'.

time to dig out the knee brace...

knee still aches, but i had no problems with leg extensions or deadlifts tonight. next leg day I'll throw lunges in.

my kingdom for a normal squat rack!

The knee is starting to feel better. yesterday was a good upper body/ab workout. Today is cardio day. Already took the dogs for a brisk walk/run and tried out a CardioTrainer app on my HTC phone (pedometer/gps tracker for outdoor workout 'miles completed' and pace tracker).

Now off to the gym for some cycling.

I think my knee is well on its way to recovery. Last night's lower body workout was no problem, and included lunges, deadlifts and leg extensions, none of which felt any different than usual on my left knee.

I think I'm just going to have to avoid Smith machine squats for a long while, possibly forever.

Also I am making progress on my cutting program, which doesn't really go full-swing until Feb 1st.

I'm down a little over 4lbs from 2-3 weeks ago, and during that time I've been taking creatine, and I do hold a little extra water while on the monohydrate.
But, I'm not dwelling on the numbers much. I know that everything I'm doing lately (including more sleep, and not playing Final Fantasy XI) is making me feel better in life and about the way I'm living life.

I recently had one of my gaming friends pass away after a long fight with leukemia. He's not the first person I've lost, but it got me to thinking about how I'm spending my time.
John was pretty much too weak to get out and do much, thus his main form of socializing and entertainment was the game. He never even told us he was sick until close to the end, when his doctors told him they were trying one more marrow transplant, but that he should get all of his affairs in order.

Not even 3 weeks later he was gone, but not forgotten.

Yet here I am, spending all this time staring at a screen, when I'm fully able-bodied to be 'out there' doing 'stuff'.

So that's what I've been doin! Livin'...

Do yourself a favor and go live a little today :)

*edited to add*
Almost forgot that I did get up and got 35 mins of cardio in this morning on the elliptical machine...then came home to see it was supposed to be an upper body training session, after work! LOLz

Got a decent upper body in last night despite not being in 'the zone' at all for a workout, I still kept the intensity high.
Tried a new track on the expresso bike this morning.

Feelin' pretty good today despite being short on sleep last night a good 90 mins.

We're tired of the behavioral issues with our two corgi's so we've been doing stuff per Cesar Millan's book. That means two walks a day, in addition to my own exercise regimen.

Should help me shed a few pounds of fat in February.

I've been a little lazy about posting in the journal, but not lazy about working out and walking my dogs.
Seems like I gained some muscle mass this month, but I wasn't really watching my diet (on purpose) so that's somewhat to be expected. I find it hard to lean out in the winter weather.
I'm glad spring is approaching!

March is a new split. Push, Pull 2x a week and only 3 cardio days. I'm doing more of a body recomp right now, as I have some Results to use up and its pretty much for packing on muscle.

So my weight has not dropped at all lately and in fact I got down to about 193lbs and now I"m back up at 196lbs but with 2% less body fat than when I started.

I would like to see weight loss just to feel better about myself, but thankfully I can recognize the body recomp happening and causing the scale not to budge on pounds, but slowly drop on body fat %.
