I have the motivation right now I'm just torn between what path to take. Becoming stronger is something that I want but my fiance doesn't like it, she finds muscle unattractive for some reason and I know it really bothers her. The dilemma I have is whether to keep gaining and risk losing her or cut down on training and sacrifice my goals. I'm naturally competitive, even with myself, so the idea of stopping with a job half done makes me feel sick

Now I hope you've had a lot of sleep before tackling that one! ;)

p.s. Are you a Lost fan by any chance? The 'brotha' bit make me read your post with a Scottish accent like Desmonds

I see each of us as a brothers in arms so-to-speak. We share alot in common.

And, I am going to tackle that one I think. (with a separate post)

I've been married 24 years. My wife is sort of like your woman. She said I couldnt get a "six" because I was too old, and at the same time, doesnt like the look, and would rather not have me have it....even if I could (at the time I was 25lbs over weight).
I am VERY strong mentally and know who I am, and have confidence in who I am (even before I lost the weight)---not too much, but enough to not allow in my mind what I dont want. I just dont allow counter-perspectives in who I am IN my mental composite.

I'll give you a view point on this from a 24 year marriage perspective, and give some advice and suggestions.

My wife doesnt really Boo--yay me, or go out of her way to support me, but one thing is present: We understand and respect one another, and know our personal goals are different from one another, and these differences, arent things that tangle or mess up the relationship, because of this base understanding. I always find time for her in conjunction with my training and exercising, and training and diet is a huge addition the last year and seven months. She KNOWS how important it is to me.......and because she cares about me, she doesnt provide any hindrances......

Ill post some more thoughts later...........in a more concise topic based post later......

Lol, well my girlfriend knows I can do it, I think that's what worries her, I can be single minded to the point of disability sometimes. Because of that I've decided that if I compromise on this then I won't be being true to myself so I'm going to set new goals and they're gonna include getting bigger and stronger. I've attached a picture that kind of sums me up

My girlfriend has always known me as skinny but in the last 12 months I've put on almost 50lbs (217lbs now). I can see her point about me looking like a different person as I'm sure she'd look pretty different if she gained 50lbs. I mentioned to her that I would probably go up to about 230-240 before my first cut and I think she freaked out a bit.

Anyway, I think I still look pretty skinny so I reckon I can gain another 20lbs easy before I start to look big. It's my body after all and I want to be more like 250lbs and deadlifting 500lbs one day

I've decided to add a third lunch to my day that'll consist of 400-500 calories. Does anyone know what to call the meal inbetween your lunch and your late lunch? Lol

In a couple of days, I am going to post a pic of the triceps. An update to the last pic, I posted a while ago in this thread. There has been a vast improvement in the definition (which is what I am after), the zig-zag is working in this sense (My focus has turned to MT on the abs, while improving definition in the bi, tri, chest (upper body)-and stimulate growth (which has been rather disappointing--but I just have to keep reasonably adjusting the zig-zag approach until I see what I m looking for). But I am getting a results return nonetheless, just need to tweek it, BABY!

The FREEFORM progression addition to the training and the teeter-totter approach to the diet as brought some good progress in the tri, the tri muscle seems to respond well in the upper rep range with progression along with alternating weight training heavy day (which I never done before, so its sort of a shock). I am VERY meticulous about the diet (I am as hard on myself, as I can be with others on this subject of diet, so I am walking the talk).

I can not stress enough, about being meticulous about the diet, and CLOSELY watching and monitoring progress, the body WILL tell you if your messing up, need adjustement, or doing it right. I LOG EVERYTHING, while this may not be for most people, and this I understand, but for me: I WANT MY GOAL (S).......and WILL do what it takes.......one has to know what they are and are not willing to sacrifice for their goals, and if one of the sacrifices is a required sacrifice, and the person dont want to do it......then the personal sacrifice has been made already.....bottom line.

There will be a marked difference from the last pic.
