Weight-Loss The Brat Pack June Weight Loss Challenge

Weight-Loss
Congrats to everyone on their losses!

Morning all! :D

Hello, gang. Glad to see that everyone is up and around. (Except Brian. We'll see him later)

Anke, looking good on the loss.. A consistent loss is better then a sporadic loss. It will keep you going.

Lolli, 7 pounds is great. Looking good for the month. What part of Ireland are you from?

Day off from work for me, so I have a ton of chores here that I'm not doing. :D

Day off?!?!?! I wish I had a day off........I can't wait till next weekend...

And congrats to everyone on their losses!!! You know, I really wish weigh in's weren't on monday!! Something happens and I am always heavier. Yesterday I was 143.6.. Today I was 142.6. dammit!

Yeah, but it all balances out in the end.

Day's off in the middle of the week are nice, but when everyone else is working, it's hard to make plans. Also, working weekends suck. If only I could figure out how to have off weekend and weekdays. I know. It's called retirement and it isn't all that far off for some of us. :nopity:

VERY far off for me... not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I'm still in college!!! :D

I have like 45 more years till I retire. Shit man thats a lot of work.

Hehe, I'm also still far off. No complaints though, I got a lot of stuff that still needs doing in this lifetime... retirement is lightyears away!

Wait a minute! Your life ends at retirement? :willy_nilly: I was planning on getting started then. :gnorsi:

Good morning Trops, Angela, Ali, Anke, Adeon. How are you all this fine morning.
I just got back from a 15 bike ride and 1 1/2 mile run. I feel great! Congrats to everyone that had a weight loss!

ok, I want to tell you guys this. Some of you dont know me, so this might weird. My right knee is trash. I blew out my knee cap in high school and had surgury, which did not work. Over the last 14 years my right leg has atrophied so badly that it was 3 inchs smaller than my left leg. It was the main reason that I couldnt run or do high energy activities. Over the last 6 months of working out and running Ive started to build up the muscles. This morning I did something I couldnt do since I was in Jr High. I was riding my bike and for some unknown reason I decided to standup and peddle. I realized what I was doing and was completely shocked. Yet one more incredible change in my life. Maybe one day my leg and knee will be managable again.

Woww that must be the greatest feeling. I'm sure you feel soo good about yourself and your acomplishments! That is a HUGE accomplishment. I'm very happy for you bud!

Oh yea, that workout sounds great. I ran 2.35 miles today. I usually only do 2.15-2.25, and I ran for the same amount of time as usual. Just stepped it up a bit I guess.

I wish I had a bike :( I'd bike every weekend.

After Brian talking about running and how much he loves it and all, (yuck!) I went out for a run. I've never been able to run and I'm slow as honey (yum) over any kind of distance. Well, today I got a PB. 3.2 miles in 29 min and 40 sec. That's a 9 min 16 sec mile. My goal is to break an 8 min mile for a 5k this year.

Mathew, that's really great. I was reading something today about how changing to a healthy active lifestyle can actually reverse your genetic disposition to disease. I am going to post the article in the Media section later. I think you might be seeing some of that. Way to go, brother!

Matt, that's awesome! That must've been a helluva realization, eh? I've actually found myself feeling guilty lately that I waited this long to start feeling this good... all those wasted years. Better late than never, I guess.

Thanks guys!

Trops, I would love to take a look at that article. How did you like the run after you did it? Ive always hated running until I made myself do it. Now I like it. Its fun to hit that runners high.

Brad, no guilt, at least you are doing it now. Better late than never.

Thats is great Trops. Right now my PB for a 5k is 25 minutes. I can get this down a bit but got freaking hurt.
I am back into it now and hope to go 6 miles this afternoon- hopefully in 52 minutes or so.

More running people!!! Running is great!!!

How in the flying eff can you run for 52 minutes???????

I run for 25... though I could PROBABLY run for a couple more... but 52??~!?!?!! Holy shit man!!

Now I have a question that maybe some of you can answer. When I am not doing my HIIT training, I run 5.2 mph. I started off doing 4.2 for 12 minutes and I've gotten myself to 25. Do you think it's more important to increase speed over time or length of run?

I workout before work and so I like to give myself an hour and 5 MAX!.
