Weight-Loss
ladies

I was just thinking through my week and this is going to be a very difficult week for me to get my minutes in and see a loss. On top of being at home again next week Mon-Wed kiddo is also home with me due to no daycare next week then I go back thur fri and I am still not feeling up to par. We went out to eat last night then we are supposed to have a date nigth tonight and then we just got called tomorrow and my MIL is in from FL for 2 days (long story) and wants us to come eat sudnay. Yikes. I am going to try really hard but just FYI this is going to be a tough week for me.

Lori-Can't WAIT to see pics, I am very envious of your pamper time. I bet you feel like a million bucks!

HEY GIRLS, WE DID IT AGAIN !

What a wonderful week! Well done everyone!

Nicole, you must get to the shape you want to be! I know it is easy to give up because you don't really "need" to be slimmer but think about the possibility that if you are not focused you might gain and this maybe will give you the needed buzz! Enjoy the fact that you are in a favorable position comparing most of the people who try to lose weight and be proud of yourself.
Don't worry about the social eating next week. I am a person who thinks that even when slimming we should not avoid social occassions and furthermore we have to enjoy them. It's also very good that you warned in advance that you are going to be busy. I will re make my program so I can get more than my minimal share and hope that it will be enough. No stress please! :) All is under control!

Miss Blondi! We are curious to see you! I am sure that the blond spirit is what helps us being so good!

Quick update for my day - I had a small and expected gain, but nothing to worry so far. Workout was good, food as well!

That's a very quick check in to let all know I had a good day of extended exercise routine. Also I did my 3rd TKD training. I feel a bit hungry now and I had a very strong chocolate craving but that's life. I just have to wait till Friday when is my planned treat. I am aiming for 50% of our total team exercises this week.

The green tea is the most pleasent and easy thing I have ever had in these challenges.

Yu-you deserve the best teammate award:coolgleamA:, gold star for you this week. i will still try to do my part but it takes alot presusre off! Glad you enjoy the tea. Sorry, can you remind me what coutnry you live in?

Update here, although I did not eat alot today it was 100% junk. I did not eat before our lunch because judging house it was at I knew I was in for bad food. We were served a nice dinner:Angel_anim: but not diet friendly :angelsad2:chicken teriyaki, sweet potatoes and cream corn with cheese oh and bread with brownies ice cream and popcorn later in night :ack2:! But I did pass on ice cream, had a small plate dinner and ate nothing else all day---I'm not an :Angel_anim:angel though, I had too much brownies!

Ok well friday-sunday were :ack2::ack2::ack2::ack2::ack2: but tomorrow is a new day and I have a healthy week of menus planned! I am doing a bit lower carb and higher protein and ehalhty fat.

Lori-hope you are well.

ps still no excercise here, planned to walk when we got hoem but we had a good time and did not get home until after 9pm!

ack ack ack ladies, weighed in today for my new challenge and I am up 1.5lbs, I have been weighing every day since I have seen 149 and I have not seen it again *sad* even more I had my bad day, I did not even see it on friday morning *weeps*. Funny thing how you can have such a variance.

OK off to sparks to plan my food!

Hello ladies,

Nicole, I think that your social eating is the reason for the slightly elevated weight. It's normal and really a thing to expect. By no means you shouldn't be worried. It will come down for sure, the question is how fast. We have to be patient with it. I strongly believe people should eat normally when meet with other people and not behave as they are on a diet. It makes other people not at ease and I don't think that resisting nice food served to you is really something which would help with the loss in the long term. Binging on the other hand is something else... But we never do it (hehehe at least not very often)! Well done on carbs/protein thing - it is very good for health but not usually easy to achieve.

Thanks for the nice words for being a good teammate. Actually my college is on a break this week and I am absolutely free so I don't mind working out more. I do live in England currently for about 1 year but I am originally from Bulgaria (Eastern Europe).

Today was an ordinary day, not too bad but not exceptional. Something I ate made my tummy bloat so I can see slight gain tomorrow but this will be a normal fluctuation and I am not worried. I made my TKD vidieos late after 00.00 :ack2:

So see you all tomorrow!:seeya:

Wulsk-aha, spring break, wonderful! I just re-read my post above, what I was *trying* to say was even friday morning (I was good on thursday) my weight was 1.5 above my 149 from thursday but its all same as you said we will have the variances here and there. I hope you are still enjoying the tea. I asked what country because I watch this show called weird foods with Andrew Zimmern and the show was going to bolivia and I remember you were with a B but I could not remmeber bolivia or bulgaria LOL, big difference I Know, I'm a nut.

Lori-hope work week is off to a bang for ya.

DId well here, I also entered the memorial day challenge, hopefully can keep me on track for next few months at least decently. I just realized if I lost a pound a week until that challenge was done I would be VERY happy with my weight!

Major negative calories today, yeah, I went to the gym for 75 minutes and did elipitcal then bike followed by a bit of stairs and then later walked dogs for 20 minutes. I have not worked out since thursday and I noticed I was not sleeping nearly as well; excercise is great for stress/sleeping issues I have.

Good evening, ladies!

Lori, I hope you are doing fine. :) :grouphug:

Nicole, I got it now. Those variations are really annoying and sometimes they happen for no reason. I noticed that you had entered in the Memorial Day Competition and it looks that it exactly suits your needs and very much in line with what you are doing now. I am absolutely certain that at the end of it you will be where you want to be as long as you stick with it!

Well I know that often in the USA Bulgaria is mixed with Bolivia. It sounds somehow similar. I don't know much about Bolivian food. I will be off to my country in July and it is going to be dietary challenge. The positive thing is that our house there has got a big garden and we do have huge selection of home grown fruits and veggies. The bad thing is that all the home made mom's foods are deep fried or full of fat. But at least the ingredients are genuine and the food is not processed at all. Portion size control will be the key for me there.

Well I did my workout today. My food was a bit lavish though. I don't feel hungry or with slightly empty stomach, and I am sorry to say, but any time I feel so happily satisfied, the scales go up on the next day. But don't worry I am positive that I will be able to report a loss this week.

Be good girls! :waving:

Yu-it seems that will be an added challenge for you to re-adjust to the cuisine of your homeland when you got used to the calories of all teh stuff in UK first. So did you loose all of this while you were away from home and everyone will be surprised now?

Lori-:grouphug:

I did in fact join the memorial day challenge and if I can loose 1lb a week I will be down to 143 which will be a veyr nice weight for me  though my goal is 135 I would probably be happy with 140 if I could maintain it fairly easily, one step at a time though. I think the length of the challenge will be good for me to keep on track.

I did excellent yesterday and pretty good today, my goal this week is to stay at 1900 calories+/-100 and so far so good. I jogged 2.5miles today.

Just thought I would pop on to post the new challenge & to say I am at 148--yeah baby!
As long as I am doing what I am supposed to be doing I should really quit worrying when the scale takes an upturn (*easier said than done*). I think I am a bit dehydrated as my thirst is telling me I did not drink enough after my run last night but I think seeing 148.5 on the scale tomorrow would not be unreasonable, considering fri-sun were not good days I am veyr pleased with even 0.5lb loss.

ps I am willing ot do this roadblock if you'd like.

Week 6—Seoul to Johannesburg 18hrs 35min. 6hrs12min split 3 ways

Roadblock: make and eat Nelson Mandela’s favorite South African dish—umngqusho. Don’t even try to pronounce it. The recipe is below. Only one person per team needs to do this--and remember--if you've already done 2 roadblocks, someone else from your team must do it.

Umngqusho—South African dish—Nelson Mandela’s fav
What you need
• 2 cups dry samp (broken hominy)
• 1 cup dry cowpeas (black-eyed peas) or any similar beans

What you do
• Combine samp and cowpeas in a large enamel pot or glass bowl. Add cold water sufficient to cover. Cover, and let stand overnight. Drain and rinse before cooking.
• In a large pot. Cover the soaked samp and cowpeas mixture with cold water. Bring to a boil. Let boil for ten minutes. Reduce heat. Add sugar beans, margarine, onions, potatoes, chillis and lemons. Simmer on low heat for one to two hours, until all is tender and the water is mostly absorbed. Add additional water during cooking if needed.
• Season with salt. Serve hot.

You must eat the whole thing by yourself. With the ingrediants other than the black-eyed peas and hominy, you can add as much or as few as you like--for example, if you don't care for spicy food, just add a tiny bit of chilis. Any questions? Just ask.

Morning girls from your long lost teammate - I apologize for not checking in over the past few days.

I am finally 30 - :banghead:

Yesterday turned out to be a very nice day. My boss started my day off by bringing me a balloon and nice card - and then my mom came out for lunch and brought me a bouquet of balloons as well as three beautiful roses - and then the night was topped off with going out to dinner with my love. Very nice day all around.

We are going out this Saturday to celebrate - and I can't wait - a bunch of friends that I have not seen in a really long time will be there - so I'm really looking forward to it.

I didn't get any exercise in yesterday - I did get my green tea in though - and I can assure you, I did not eat as if I was dieting yesterday. I just couldn't!

As far as my total exercise - I did get in 35 min Fri, 78 min Sat, 65 min Sun and 45 min Monday - so I have a little bit of catching up to do, but it shouldn't be a problem. Brings me to a total of 223 min through Tuesday. I should be able to definitely get the rest in before Thursday between today and tomorrow.

I just read the Roadblock for this week - and I'm not sure..do I have to do it since I haven't done one yet? I'm a little confused on how it works. Let me know so I can stop at the store and get what I need.

Oh, and sorry I haven't posted the new pics yet - I'm gonna try to get them on here this morning before I leave for work. Gonna go finish getting ready!

Hope you ladies have a fabulous day!

Lori-HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Yeah. You definately should not 'diet' on your birthday, just as my weight from over the weekend it will go back away quickly.

PS I updated our team total because it looks like your calculation did not use the most current team total (it was short 35min).

Cheers!

We somehow missed your birthday! Shame on us!
And who can possibly dare to blame anyone who is not dieting on his birthday. Certaninly not me! I would encourage it! :)
Your execises look pretty good to me as well!

Nicole, congratulations on your new low! It seems that your calorie plan works already! This is great news because part of the problem with the weight loss is that often we just don't know what to do. Now when you find your way all you have to do is to push yourself every day to stick to it.

I am very impatient indeed to see reactions of my friends when they see me so slim. They saw me when had lost 1/3rd of my weight but now I look completely different. It will be so great to hear their "wows". :) Also it will make me more obliged to keep the good result!

My day was good in terms of exercises. But I had a little gain and also I have prescribed a bit too big portion for dinner today. It seems I am not going to lose tomorrow either.

I would be VERY thankful if some of you is in charge of this week roadblock! You can't imagine how much I love to try this meal but I couldn't find any of the main ingredients in the supermarkets here. I will continue searching in ethno shops but I have no confidence that I will find those.

Lori-if you dont want to do the roadblock I am aye ok with taking it, it sounds a bit starchy for my liking but I do like beans and cooking so no problem.

Yu-I cant believe you cant find hominy and black eyed peas, funny, maybe they are just called something different. Unless Lori wants to do it I will let you know how it tastes!

I am still at 148 today, yeah! I have been light on excerise this week and hubby took day off to take care of kiddo so I will try to get in 2 hours today, I am glad you gals are picking up the slack for me! Honestly being home with my daughter all day and she is teethign so wants to nurse alot giving me an advantage, it burns up ALOT calories, like 2-500 a day and right now I am probably easily at the 500 range!

Hi all. I did really well today, I went to the gym for 2.5hours (~800cal burn) I did my best to catch up on minutes...and it felt really good! I expect a bit of soreness tomorrow. I am right about 1800 calories today so that puts me at negative 800 calories! Perhaps I will see another -0.5lbs tomorrow:bigear: but I am happy with my 1lb I have lost :Angel_anim:!

Hope you are both doing fabulous today!

Hey Nicole,

You did fab today! But it seems that all the energy you had was taken away from me. I had great lack of motivation and also felt super tired. I started to exercise at 5 pm but I pushed myself and I did everything I had to. I had a bit late dinner but it was small. I don't know if I will see further reduction tomorrow but I will play with my worse weight again. I believe we will be safe since it's still a loss. Our minutes are good as well.

OK, I have estimated that one TKD training lasts 13 min and 04 seconds. I did it seven days for a total of 01:31:28

If I add the TKD training to my exercise minutes it puts me above the limit of 50% of our team exercises which I am allowed to do.

So with one word, consider I have done half of the team minutes or - 577 min

Yu--you know you only have to do the tea or the TKD--not both. Or are you just an over achiever? :D

Lori--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! 30 is not that old--I just turned 36.

Nicole--congrats on losing weight despite having all kinds of distractions, etc.

As the roadblocks go, each of you must do at least one, and no one may do more than 2. Those are the rules.

BB- Yu has knowingly (crazy girl) been doing both parts of the detours AND all the roadblocks (overachiever) but we have only counted her for one roadblock so I believe we are ok there. Thanks for checking on us and popping in to say hi (or are you just spying on us--kidding).

Yu-you are an excercise maniac! Well done well done. If you ahve not upped your calories to compensate for the major amout of excercise you have done it may be why you are feeling a bit tired and run down, maybe tomorrow you can be a bit frivolous!

I had a late big dinner but couldnt finish all of it and I still dont have all my calories in for the day (normally a good thing but I am supposed to get at least 1800 per my other challenge for this week) so the conundrum, have a nice reese I have been saving for just such an occasion OR miss points and be lwo calories (thats what I did yesterday). We shall see!

Morning girls! Thank you for the birthday wishes! You didn't miss anything - I'm celebrating all week through Sunday..hehe.

My mom is taking me out Saturday morning for breakfast and a pedicure - and then I'll be going to my friend's salon to get my birthday manicure - and then Saturday night -- time to party!

I calculated my exercise this morning and I'm so mad that I fell short - I hope I don't hurt the team. I got in an hour and a half yesterday - and fell short by about 72 min...grrr. So, I apologize in advance if we are hurt for that.

I have gotten my green tea in every day. And I got on the scale this morning and it was actually up to 200! :banghead:

I have a feeling it is because of the dinner we had last night. I got a pre-marinated pork loin - and it turned out to be very salty. But I weighed myself last night and was down to 198 - so I will be using that number.

As far as the detour this week, I would be happy to let you do it Nicole - I really don't care for black eyed peas - so it would be a difficult challenge for me - but I don't want you guys to feel that I'm not doing my part - so if I need to do it, I will.

Glad to see you guys are doing well! Have a FANTASTIC FRIDAY!

I haven't had time to post the pics - but I should have a ton of them after Saturday and will get them up here this weekend!
