Weight-Loss The Amazing Race Challenge Legacy Red Ladies Team

Weight-Loss
Ladies I am sorry I am falling hsort on excercise I feel horrible today and I was supposed to go to the gym but I fell asleep right after work, hubby never woke me up until 9:15pm, so far I only have 2hours45minutes. Tomorrow I cant walk at work but I will try to work out after wrok for an hour but that still leaves me a bit short.

I have been eating poorly too which I always do when feeling tired/sick

ugh

sorry to be a downer

I dont know what the challenge is but I am ALL OVER IT

Week 3—Rio to Vancouver 18hrs 50min. 6hrs17min per teammate if split evenly, and 9hrs25min would be 50%.

So, as Vancouver’s a port city, fishing is a major industry there. And as fish is low-cal, a great source of lean protein and full of omega-3 fatty acids, here’s the Roadblock: Eat a lb (basically a half a kilo) of salmon (not canned) over the course of the week. Only one person per team has to do this.

I LOVE LOVE fish so this isnt a problem, technically I am supposed to limit my fish intake as I am still nursing but we have really cut back the amount (of nursing) so I think it will be fine and I LOVE fish.

wow, the working out is going to kill, I am going to have to walk on all my lunch hours to make sure I can get that.

Girls,

Do not worry about the exercises! The idea of this challenge is that we must help each other as a team. I will finish off my already planned program and then I'll do another 50 min of Pilates. It is possible that even I do this we still don't cover our minutes. However I strongly forbid you to worry or feel guilty about it.

So for your guidance when I finish with ALL exercises I will have a grand total of 06:28:36

Then, you know I have been doing Capoeira every day this week. I had no intention to include this as an exercise but this is within the rules of the game so I will make fine caluculation and I believe it will give about hmmm 15 to 20 min.

Also I saw exceptionally good result on the scales today. Almost unrealistic. This also should help the team. :)

Off I go now on my mission!

Hey girls!

Sorry I haven't been posting much. I usually just log on real quick..but don't really have time to write much. On top of that, I have been having problems with this computer - and its driving me nuts!!

I have managed to get an hour and a half in each day at the fitness room here at the hotel. On top of that - I walk a little over half hour each day between training - so I am up to 5 hours 30 min. We need 14:35 min right?

So, tonight, I can definitely head back down to the gym and get another hour in - and then I'll have my half hour of walking today which will take me up to 7 hrs. So, I think we're good. That just doesn't sound right - am I adding wrong?

My legs and rear would tell you I'm adding correctly - I have been a little sore and sleeping very very well. My mind and my body are sleepy!

I'm anxious to see if I have any kind of loss tomorrow - I usually like weighing myself in the morning, so the only weight I'll have to go off of will be in the evening when I get home. So, we'll see how it goes.

I love salmon as well mom2 - but I don't think I'll have the funds to buy it - so if you wanna take on that challenge, it is fine by me.

Hope you chickies have a great day!

Lori, I admire your energy! You are great!

I tried to calculate your minutes and it seems that if you had 1 hour 30 min in the gym + 30 min walk it is = 2 hours per day. 5 days X 2 hours is 10 hours

If it is so, it's great and we are all safe!

I have logged in all my stats already. As promised I did extra 50 min Pilates on top of the already planned DVD workout for legs+abbs and the usual squats, sit ups and last day of Capoeira.

I made sure to count the Capoeira in my exercise minutes. Of course I count only the seconds of the real thing (not the playing and speaking). It made a total of 05 min 06 sec. So for the week these are whole 35 min 42 sec extra. This is great! :)

Anyway my final is at 6 hours 54 min and 24 seconds! I am proud. I am down 2.6 pounds. If I have a better result tomorrow I will go for it but I doubt.

I want to warn you that next week I will be probably up in weight because:
1. my period is due
2. I am giving 2 days of free style food for Easter

I don't see a problem to get 1/3 th of the exercises. If we keep up to date our total minutes I also can get some more towards the end of the week.

It was a hard week for the 3 of us and I hope we will be lucky because we deserve it.

ladies I sit here almost in tears, I am SO happy you have made up for my 'dead weight' this week, ugh. I talked to hubby last night and tonight about moving the time we work now that we carpool so that I can go in to work later and still work out in morning, tonight is another night of no gym, baby went to bed very late tonight and tis too late to go to gym or I would be up ALL night. I am sorry I hope some day when you have your children you will understand. On top of the lack of excercise I have eaten like a pig the past two days, I eat such healthy food btu then eat a bunch of sweets.

I have been thinking, I am kind of an all or nothing girl, maybe I should start using one of the calorie counting sites to count EVERYTHING calories in and calories out so I can see the real results and get very detailed abotu everything. I feel like I only have so much time in day so I dont think I have the time to do that but maybe I shoudl try, maybe that would get me some really great results and once I see the results, 1-2 pant sizes than I think maintaining will not be as big a deal for me personally, just the way I think.

Anyway planning my menu out now around my salmon, will keep you updated. I am hoping to maintain my weight form last week bu twe shall see, I know we will nto get eliminated this week so I have to get my butt in gear for next week .

ok ladies I updated my stats just incase I forget tomorrow.

I have been spending TONS time reading since I last posted and I am going to *try* doing fitday next week to track my calories approximately both consumed and burned. I have to stop back by the mall to get a new battery for my heart rate monitor. Anyway, I have figured out a tentative meal plan for tomorrow that would be 1900 calories, I have calculated my resting metabolic rate would be about 1499 calories averaged between 5 different ways of calculating it plus I still breastfeed which is 200-500 calories a day, I will assume 300 calories for that which puts me to needing 1800 calories per day (you shouldnt consume less than this when breastfeeding anyway) so that will be my goal to get at least 1800 in. I think I need to get my heart rate monitor because the excercise points they have in fitday was way off from what I normally burnt according to the more accurate heart rate monitor.

maybe this detailed method will work for me,

ok off to do a meal plan

Hey girls...I didn't make it to the gym last night - but I actually got 45 min of walking yesterday. We ended up taking a trip to the home office to visit - and all of my fellow trainees thought I was nuts for keeping track of my minutes all day..hehe.

I'm gonna break it down in days here just for my sake because my brain is mush!

Monday - 30 min walk/1 hr 30 min gym
Tuesdday - 30 min walk/1 hr 30 min gym
Wednesday - 30 min walk/1 hr 30 min gym
Thursday - 45 min walk

So, if I am calculating correctly - that all adds up to 6 hr 45 min. Does that sound right?

I doubt that I will get any exercise in today - if I absolutely need to, I will try when I get home, but after a 5 hour drive back, I don't think I'll be up for much of anything.

I can't wait to get home and see my Love and my animals - I miss them so much!

Mom2 - keep your chin up! You had an off week - its reality! Weight loss adventures are full of up and downs. Just give yourself a plan - and get re-energized!

Wulsk - GREAT JOB with the challenge and your exercise and loss! I am so nervous to get on the scale when I get home today I can't even tell you. Even though I have gotten all of my exercise in, I have definitely eaten more than I usually do. So, I'm biting my nails!

Let me know if my calculations are correct and if I need to get in more exercise tonight - I will check it when I get home tonight and adjust accordingly!

Have a wonderful day!

We are done girls, totally and completely done - we have exceeded our minutes even! Nobody to bother for the Week 2 anymore!

Mom, please don't feel bad. I can't stress enough how much I admire working women with children. You are incredibly strong person! While I completely agree that the plan you made will help you a lot, I think it is very important to set small and achievable goals. What you really, really need now is a sensetion of success. You need to feel that you accomplish your goals! Don't push yourself too hard, you are already doing great!

Lori, what to say, hun? You had huge test this week and you passed it with an A+! It is possible that you have a gain but the most important thing is that you were cautious and accountable at all the times. This skill will contribute to the final success more than anything else.

I am so proud of you!

wulsk-you are such a sweetie :Angel_anim: thank you!

Lori-I agree you passed your week with flying colors and weighing at night is a disadvantage but will be good for us next week if its a bit high this week!you did great!

ladies feeling a bit better, thanks a bunch. I lost 0.5lbs according to scale today, I dont believe it one bti but I will record it anyway.

go RED!

Mom, way to go with your 0.5 lbs. Loss is always a loss! :hurray: This is fab! I am so happy that you feel better! This is just part of our journy - ups and downs. I'd be surprised if anyone comes and say that he is always happy, contented and delighted during the weight loss process. I know lots of articles on the subject try to convince us that weight loss can be pleasent. Yes, it can be sometimes but far not always.

Lori, I hope you are having a safe journey home. 5 hours driving is a serious thing for a girl. (Not being too sexist lol!)

Well I had a good day today. I did all the planned workouts. Also funnily enough my bf bought salmon so I was very delighted. I was little bit up today so decided to go with the lower weight. It wasn't before I read Margaret's (Omega) posts to realise that in this challenge it is not always the best idea to go with the lowest weight since the points are not accumulative. Silly me! I usually think that I am intelligent person but often I don't get elementary things. I need more carbs for my brain! I need chocolate! :willy_nilly:

Anyway I will leave things as they are! I am very concerned that next week I will see no loss. In any case I will do all my best with the exercies.

TOTAL SO FAR: 00:52:55

Phew...made my updates just in time. I was sitting on my couch after getting all unpacked thinking "I know I'm forgetting to do something...", and then all of a sudden it turned into.."SHIT - I need to post my weigh in!!". I am disappointed that I am up - but I kind of expected it. I wanted to avoid salt today - but had a soft pretzel as a snack at one of the rest stops. They also packed us a lunch to go and it was a turkey sandwich - but on white bread (which I normally don't eat) and full fat mayo.

But nevertheless...I'm still proud of myself that I hit the exercise this past week. Can't wait for this week!

Have a great night chickies! :waving:

Lori-I am proud of you too, and if you hadnt done more excercise I would have been in big trouble and had to go out thursday night and walk my tush off for another hour or so LOL. I also am pretty sure that you did not gain that much weigh, weighing in at night time makes a HUGE difference, easily 3-5lbs for me personally.

Well ladies it looks like we are on the chopping block so if you have a comment make it now or forever hold your piece, ah we did our best, never fear.

I don't know if you've seen my update in the main thread yet, but you're safe!!

I agree with mom2 about night time weighing. Mine is always 3-6lbs more at night than first thing in the morning. I never use a night weight for a challenge weigh in, as it's going to be off. If you weighed yourself this morning, I wouldn't be suprised if you'd actually lost some weight from all that exercise you did, Lori. Also, your team got an extra 5pts for getting in all of your exercise, that put you out of danger of elimination regardless of Tarrish not updating in time. It was the Exercise Bunnies who got lucky instead. :biggrinjester:

BB-SO sorry I sent in the email about the elimination rule (I didnt see where it said those NOT on the team in question, my fault).

YEAH girls, we are still doing well, scary week though & a GREAT motivator LOL!

Ok I tried to make up for no friday excercise, I went to the gym for 1 hour 51 minutes including weights a toning/cardio class and 2 mile run. I wont let you down this week!

Lori-I think we are going to KICK BUTT when we get credit for your weight loss this week, last week was biased against us and we still made it so this week will be biased for us.

Wulsk-are you still doing excercises?

How long are we all doing for excercise this week?

ok off to buy my salmon, yummy yummy!

ps I am also noticing that I am due for my PMS gain of 3-5lbs which should be between thu-sat, hopefully it holds off until saturday.

Week 3—Rio to Vancouver 18hrs 50min. 6hrs17min per teammate if split evenly, and 9hrs25min would be 50%.

Lori, I am happy that you are safe back home. Thank you for updating in time. As you know this was a vital error for the Divas team. I am entirely with mom and Kim about weigh in in the evenings. It sucks. Never believe in it.

Well there was a lot of suspense arround our team today. Mom even made a dramatic finale. It was so funny, made me laugh :) However we are still in here.

I certanily did all my exercises. Especially because Kim suggested that there will be second chance competition. It was some jogging in the wonderful English weather (hail+sun+wind all in the same time!) I run for about 5-6 min and then my phone flew out of my pocket and landed into pieces. The phone was fine but I lost the clock which counted down my jog minutes and started again. I did 11 min as planned. I don't count the minutes I already did as I am not sure how many they were. Then at home I did 40 min of Pilates. I have planned exactly 1/3 of the total time for exercises BUT I also alocated some time in the last day to get another 30-40 min if needed. So my max would be 07:00:00 hours. I am open to real emergencies as well and will also not let you down.

I ate well, my weight is down again but tomorrow is Easter (HAPPY EASTER BY THE WAY!) and there will be eggs, and family dinner and stuff I can't really say no to. I am a human. Honestly! :banghead:

I will try hard after the easter feasts to get rid of this weight I gonna get. I plan to drink more water and to walk more. (As you know I don't count my walking towards the exercises as it is a relaxed style one, I like to take my time, do shopping, or simply stop for a coffee). This is absolutely scary that eleminations are more related to the weight loss than anything else.

That's from me for now! :leaving:

TOTAL SO FAR: 01:46:52

I too will be enjoying the easter holiday, I am making ham, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, and biscuits-yum plus I did buy a bit of easter basket candy!

I also completed 0.5lb of salmon!

mom2--don't worry about the PM--no big deal. :)

Now that I've remembered the 5pt bonus for getting in all your exercise, that'll help offset any lack of weight loss, so keep that in mind. It certainly makes me feel better. ;)

Happy Easter Girls! :p

Now that my mind is getting its gears working again, I can actually comprehend all the posts..hehe.

I went to bed at 7 pm last night and didn't get up until 7 this morning..I needed it, bad!

I think its true what you guys are saying about the night time weigh-in, but I haven't gotten on the scale since just for the fear that it might actually be my real weight and I don't want to get discouraged.

I won't weigh myself again until Friday morning. Well, probably Thursday morning too.

I have been meaning to tell you guys that I met a woman on Training who had lost 46 pounds..we went to dinner a couple of nights and she was telling me some of the things that worked for her.

She said that she still eats Kellogs All Bran EXTRA FIBER every day..and it really helps to clean her out and keep her regulated..no bloating..she said it even flattens her stomach out.

After going to two different grocery stores here yesterday, I figured out that its not easy to find. But I went online..and my mom and I are going to order it through Amazon..so i'll have to let you guys know how it works out.

I didn't exercise yesterday because I was so tired, but I plan on exercising today before going out to see my family with all of the fattening good food!

I haven't gotten a chance to figure out how much exercise we each need...but I'll definitely check it out before I log off.

Hope you guys have a wonderful Easter!
