Weight-Loss The Amazing Race Challenge Legacy Red Ladies Team

Weight-Loss
Well hello chicas! Let me just first start off by saying that I have been on CLOUD NINE since Monday! :sifone: I am absolutely LOVING my new job!

I have been in the finance/mortgage industry...Sales/Customer Service/Collections for the past 10 years...one word - BORING!

I have a very fun, outgoing personality and some of my friends say I'm flashy. Soooo, getting a job in the beauty industry doing something that incorporates my personality is just a perfect fit.

I love the people I work with - I love the environment, I haven't found one thing yet that I don't like!!

All things really do happen for a reason and I know that God was trying to teach me something with all of the struggles I have had over the past year.

Soo, with all of that being said, I have still gotten my exercise in! I am up to 2.5 hours - gonna do an hour today and an hour tomorrow. I have eaten all my cabbage (can't say that was so much fun..lol), and I will admit..it has been hard formatting a new routine to keep up with my weight loss effort while trying to concentrate on a new job.

Not only am I mentally exhausted from taking in all the new info in Training, but after sitting in an hour and a half of traffic..I feel like doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING when I get home. But I have been good!

Missblonde-congrats on teh job, i twill take a couple weeks to figure out your rhythm, go easy on yourself! So what do you do, if you dont mind.

My exact title is Career Planning Specialist, but I am the Admissions Rep for a beauty school here in Pittsburgh...and its awesome!

And the best part of my week that I'm looking forward to is...I'm getting a mini-makeover on Friday - FOR FREE!

My boss has had her cosmetology license for 17 years...and wants to give me a makeover! Considering I haven't had a haircut since November of 2005 - I'm waaaay too excited. She is going to fix my highlights..so I'm gonna get a cut and color for free!

I have to go away for Training next week, so I'm a little nervous as far as what our "Detour" will be and if I will be able to do without being home. They have a gym in the hotel I'm staying at..just a little nervous about the food selection. But, I'll play it by ear.

Hope you two are doing fantastic...I'm sorry to go on and on..but like I said, I have been on cloud nine for three days!

I'll check in with ya tomorrow!

Lori, I am so happy it is all going well. I was a bit worried about you because every new job is a stress and usually people do not like their first months before they settle. You had very high expectations and I thought you might get little disappointed (which is normal). However all is going GREAT. I am honestly so pleased. You are doing more than great! Again - make sure you have enough sleep and rest.

I am progressing nicely. I have done about 30 min today - pilates burn full, pilates bun and thighs, pilates flex, squats and sit ups. One more cup of cabbage has been eaten as well.

Tomorrow: last hour of sport and last cup of cabbage...

Still not sure about loss - if I am lucky I will be a pound less...

Hugs!

Lori-that is SO great! AND being around all those beauty goo-roo's would be fun and advantageous! ANyway it sounds so great and do go on about it, I love to hear about others and I just love to TALK! He he

Wulsk-you are so close to your goal! wow with being so close I am in admiration of your continued loss.

I did 'fare' today on eating and since I am on antibiotics for pneumonia I am SO tired and knew I woudlnt make it to gym tonight so instead I took a VERY fast 40 min walk at work and then walked the dogs for 40 minutes when we got home (I am trying to walk them as many days as possible now that the weather is getting better since my daughter can go in her stroller its nice).

(3hrs45min+1hr20min=5hrs5min)YEAH! I met the goal!!

well I am happy to report I have secured -2.5lbs as of this morning, I actually was aiming for 1 lb a week and trying not to make any drastic changes so this is pretty cool.

either of you ladies up for this weeks challenge?

Thank you guys so much for the warm wishes! :) I am very happy that it turned out well..because you're right, I did have very high expectations.

I just read the challenge for this week, and I don't think I'll be able to be the one to do the detour because I'll be in the hotel. I may be able to though because I will have a laptop...the exercise should be no problem. I'm rather excited about working out in a gym at the hotel..it will be a nice change from my living room.

Got on the scale today and I'm down 3 lbs! It was a very nice surprise because in the past, I would weigh myself every day and haven't been doing that since starting a new job. Guess my mind has just been elsewhere...lol.

Lori, I'm so happy you're enjoying your new job--and getting a free makeover. I'm so jealous--I so could use one. :smilielol5:

This team is looking really good this week. :)

WELL DONE GIRLS. WEEK 1 IS OVER!

Here is Week 2:

Week 2—Moscow to Rio de Janeiro Travel time: 16hrs 45min. That's 5hrs 35min for each team member if split up evenly.

Roadblock: One person from each team must have plastic surgery (your choice as to what you have done), and then don a Brazilian thong bikini and spend a day sunbathing topless at the beach. Please post photos to prove you completed the roadblock. Ah, I crack myself up.

Actually, the roadblock is to do the Capoeira videos below. Capoeira is a Brazilian combination of martial arts and dance. One team member must watch the first 3 videos and follow along with the next 4 videos once during the week. You don't have to do the moves perfectly, but do the best you can as you follow along. You can do all 15 videos if you like, but only the first 7 are required.

Please keep in mind that Thursday the 13th is the last day to eat your cabbage and get in your week 1 exercise. You can use Thursday or Friday's weight for you weigh in, and all teams must have updated their detour, exercise and weight info by midnight EDT (GMT -4hrs). Otherwise, your team may be eliminated

I think I will have an excellent result on the scales this week. I saw good figure today. Hoping for more tomorrow. Cabbage done! Exercises done!

Girls, what are we going to do with the roadblock? Lori is going to be busy this week. Mom, what do you think? I am absolutly ready to take it unless you want it. I am ok either ways!

Let's keep fingers crossed not to be eliminated this week.

Kim, thank you for visiting us. You have a great team, but this one is rocking on as well!

Wulsk-I detest wokring out at home and I would love if you would do it because some of those moves look like they would really irritate the knee problems I have, I am sure I could get through it if I had to --it's same reason I didnt try last weeks jig--hmm maybe Kim is secretly trying to drum up business for the orto business LOL :smilielol5:--kidding.

Wulsk & Lori-you are BOTH rockin'n'rolling!

I did bad with my eating today and although I didnt make it to the gym I did make it out for a 30 min walk and fnish up my cabbage so I am all good on that front with a total of 5hrs35minutes. Currently down 2lbs as of this mronign so I wil put that in and see hwat tomorrow brings.

Hello teammates,

Mom, no pro I am taking the roadblock! I haven't tried it yet but it will be sooner rather than later. Great work about the 2 pounds! I am pround myslef with the unexpected 2.4 pounds loss. I am almost sure we are safe this week!

Lori, hope you are doing well!

I have done 00:42:57 Pilates today. Food was good.

I have a mental problem though. For the past 3-4 days I have HUGE desire to binge. It is not hunger, it is not craving for certain food either... It is something psychological and related to the fact I am at the end of my journey. All the time I am thinking of chocolate eggs, bread or other things which would make me sickly full. :puke: It's almost like I want to sabotage my own success. The cold weather doesn't help either. I am doing well but not feeling well. I hope I will be fine soon.

Maybe it's a sense of reward for all you've done--you know, a kind of rest on your laurels type thing. :) It's ok to have a binge day once in awhile, just don't make a habit of it and you'll be fine. ;) I was ravenously hungry the day before yesterday, and gave in to it. I know how you feel.

2nd Place ain't too shabby girls! GOOD JOB!! I was so nervous when it came time to weigh myself and add up my exercise - I usually have OCD about keeping track of stuff, and this past week, I was so focused on the new job that I didn't really put a lot of time into tracking. But, it turned out good!

I do need some advice about this week coming up though. I am on a very limited budget. My initial plan was to go to the grocery store and stock up on healthy stuff to take with me to the hotel..but money-wise I am not able to do that.

I will be forced to make due with the continental breakfast and whatever they decide to serve us for lunch (just found out yesterday that I have no choice in the matter when it comes to lunch :svengo:)

So, any tips on the food? I haven't taken a road trip in a really long time - and in the past, I have always stocked up on junk food as snacks for the trip. There won't be a refrigerator in the room so I can't take anything cold..and I've thought about taking a cooler, but the ice will melt.

The exercise shouldn't be a problem because they have a gym at the hotel, and I am going to have to pack up my scale and take it with me because I'm not sure what time I'll get home on Friday.

My mind is on information overload from all of the training..and I guess I'm just trying to get all my ducks in order. Soooo, any advice you could give me would be a tremendous help!

Lori, please by no means let yourself worry about food. Healthy snacks are good but we have to live our lives as well. Focus on your education and eat whatever you are served. Just try to make the best possible choice from what is on offer. If there is no good choice it doesn't matter either. As long as you don't overeat it's fantastic. Take it as a training for the days when you will be at your goal weight and you will have to maintain. Continental breakfast usually includes meats, cheeses, cereal, fresh veg which is absolutely fine. Whatever the lunch is, they won't serve you too much so you are safe with that as well. The problem is the dinner. You have to have some nice meal for dinner. I believe that if you become really hungry you can supply yourself with 2-3 apples and 2-3 oranges but no more than that. Overall think about the quantities even if you have to eat something bad.

I hate to advise people as I am far from perfect myself so just take this one DON'T WORRY! We love you! :hug2:

Ah and FANTASTIC JOB! SECOND PLACE IS SO FREAKING EXCELLENT!

Kim, thanks for addressing my problem and sharing your little secret. :) I won't tell anyone! The Easter is next week and I have a family lunch. I will deff eat more (hope not binge) also I will eat some chocoalte... it's just matter of time. I can't let myself pig out anytime I want. I know that occassional binge doesn't stop the weight loss (sometimes even helps it) however I am scared to death going back to my all habits. And let's be honest - there is always a chance for this to happen. Well, enough moaning!!!!!!!!!! I CAN DEAL WITH IT! :banghead:

Wulsk-I also was going to say to just let yourself have 'a day' but plan (I know you are good at that LOL) to make it just that, one day, if you have a day coming up than perhaps that will be your day to do what you want and NOT beat yourself up. PS here in states continental b-fast is WAY different than what you mentioned LOL, good ol' fat americans hee hee

Lori-just do what you think is best and perhaps buy a bag of apples for $3 to take with you and some cans of chicken or tuna might be nice if you dont have $ for a big dinner you can go get a salad or soemthing adn throw that on top. ANyway I agree with wulsk, this is a good 'test' and you may have to just eat less but whatver is offered try to pick the best choice I know its so hard, we have trainings for a day like what you are talking about and its hard. You can do it.

I didint get up in time for my aerobics class today but as soon as little one takes a nap I will head off for the gym.

Second place YES!

Hi girls! I made it to my hotel...after a long 5 hour car ride. I'm surprised to see that I have a refrigerator after the front desk told me I wouldn't have one..or else I would have packed some healthy stuff to bring with me. I found the Fitness Room..and thank God I'm not shy...there is a huge window facing the main road so everyone can see who's in there working out.

I got lost along the way...and it was dark by the time I got here, so that made it even harder to find. I'm so glad that I have a laptop to use..I'd be lost without the Forum!

Well, I'm off to bed..I did good on the road today..I brought along water and some pretzels to munch on..and when I stopped for some dinner, I got a plan grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato...but now I'm starving!

So, I'm sure I'll be posting a lot on the Forum this week since I have a lot of "alone" time on my hands..hehe.

Have a fabulous evening!

missblonde-glad to see you will still be 'connected', I am betting if you take advantage of that workout center, even if you do eat differently than you normally would you can at a minimum maintain (which would be a great goal) but will probably loose and tone up a bit extra. Have a FUN week and dont let the competition stress you out, there is no way we will get eliminated this week with as good as we are all doing.

Wulsk-so have your cravings went away? Can you work some healthy treats into your diet? I have lately taken to frozen grapes and bananas. Thanks for doing the detour for us.

Doing farely well here, sunday is my 'rest' day and boy did I need it. I ate poor quality food but did not overindulge with a ton of it. According to scale yesterday and today I am down 1.5lbs already to 150.5, not a new low (unfortunately) but a new low 'this time'. I am trying to not make any changes I cant make long term so I am NOT cutting out sweets just cutting back. ANyway I have made healthy breakfast and lunch for all week and taken my snacks to work as well. Did not get to gym this morning but will try tonight.

Morning Chicas! Did you guys have a nice St. Patty's day? I don't really celebrate it..but I thought I'd be nice and ask! :cheers2:

You guys will be proud of me...last night, after my training for the day..I went to the grocery store and picked up some healthy stuff to keep in my fridge. I got a salad and some turkey since I had already brought up some bread.

I ventured down to the Fitness Room last night and did an hour of cardio mixed between the treadmill and the eliptical trainer and then did half an hour of weights.

I'm getting nervous as far as getting in the 5 1/2 hours of exercise this week. I'm not sure what time we'll get out tonight because the trainer told us yesterday that he wants to keep us longer..so I don't know if I'll be able to do an hour and a half again.

How are you guys looking on exercise time?

We can weigh in up until Midnight on Friday..right? I'm going to be home by then...but I definitely don't want to use the scale that they have at the hotel. I got on it last night and it said I was 30 lbs heavier than my scale at home! I wanted to fall over! I know I didn't gain 30 lbs in 2 days!

But, I will be on the road on Friday and then I can weigh myself as soon as I get home.

Hope you guys are doing well!

Have a fabulous day!

I also forgot to mention that I spend about 30 minutes walking from my car to training..up hills..down hills - the parking situation is just insane..but does that count towards my exercise? My buns are telling me it does..hehe. :ack2: My quads and buns are feeling it!

I was thinking of walking to the training today but its supposed to snow and rain all day so I may just drive...I'll still have to tread up and down quite a few hills to get to it...but just wanted to check on that.

Hello girls,

I am so sorry I wasn't posting my progress lately. I was either too tired or moody to report.

I see that you are doing great! Coping with a new job and a little one and still on track! Wow! I see I have no excuse to complain.

My grand total so far is: 3:57:15

I don't see any reasons which could prevent me from taking all my minutes this week. Lori, can you let me know if you think it would be a good idea to try to sqeeze some more exercises Wed and Thur if you couldn't get your minutes?

I have been good with the food although I am not completely fine with my cravings. I have bought jaffa cakes which are only 46 cal per biscuit but I ate only one so far.

I am doing the Capoeira every evening. I know only one time is required but I am a maniac.

I have 0.6 lbs loss so far. It can go either ways from here, really not sure.
Yes, Lori you have the whole Friday to enter your weight. I was very shocked about these scales in your hotel. 30 lbs difference sounds as if it is broken to me.

I am not sure if you can include the walking but I don't see a problem myself. It would be good if Kimberly confirms it so we can be absolutely sure we are playing a fair game.

Well, that's for now. I will report soon again.

Hey girls,

How are you? Are we sure that we are getting all the exercise minutes this week? Next week bonus is posted already and it is even more challenging for my horror - well over 6 hours!

I have just finished my workout - pilates, squats and sit ups, capoeira... :)

My grand total for this week so far is: 4:40:16

I saw very good results on the scales as well!

What shall we do with the roadblock? Since only one team member has the right to do 2 roadblocks (they are 4 in total) maybe it will be a good idea one of you to take this one. However please be sure that I am so super, very happy to take this one as well in case both of you dislike salmon. I even think I might do it parallel with you.

:waving:
