i just looked this up... the frozen grapes, ... i've heard of popcorn.
i never knew you could do that.

I love frozen grapes, less so now Winter is approaching but they are like tiny mini sorbets and take forever to eat.

Amy - she's leaving tomorrow (Monday). I feel sad with myself that I've had some bad feelings towards her so have tried to be very nurturing today. I'm looking at flights for May for her to come back for L's 1st Birthday - I think if she has something to look forward to it'll give her some hope. I'll aim to book her some flights this week so she can have a nice surprise.

I have never tried frozen grapes, but will this Summer.
Don't feel sad that you have had some bad feelings towards your MIL, hon. Anyone would have. You are a kind & caring person, but everyone has their limits. Give yourself a week or so before you book those flights so that you're not doing it with any feelings of guilt. You're a good person, Han :beating:

I'm glad you're making it a good last day - I hope the airport part of it on Monday isn't too trying - I mean in the plain tedious airporty way, with bothersome queues and whatnot. All the best to all of you for the love to come to the fore and make a happy memory for you all to carry forward.

Thanks Cate and Amy. It was a nice day yesterday and we all parted on good terms this morning.

I'm now washing the bedding ( I treated myself to 800 thread count sheets, bliss! ) and getting ready for the day whilst L snoozes upstairs. I am starting in earnest today with the healthy eating. I feel so bloated and horrid at the moment and know I've been half-assing it. Need to get my butt in gear. I've got a very low calorie chicken casserole in the slow cooker which we will have with baked potato tonight whilst we finish a film we started last night (Midsommar).

Having to cater for someone who doesn´t eat vegetables (really???) must´ve made not half-assing it kind of hard. Glad to hear you´ve got some freedom back and I´m sure you´ll feel less horrid really soon!

A successful first day, ladies and gents! My strategy is adding what snack I want onto my calories at the start of the day and working backwards as evening snacks are what I liiiive for.

04/11/19 - 207lbs

Breakfast: half a banana (53)
Lunch: Philadelphia light with 2 carrots and 2 sticks of celery, 1 slice seeded toast (236)
Dinner: slow cooked chicken casserole (half a breast) with a jacket potato (no butter) and extra broc (488)
Snacks: 200ml fizz, salted popcorn, frozen grapes (491)

Total: 1268

Hana I have missed loads . I recall driving my in-laws to the airport after I had my son and nearly jumping with joy after they departed . Was happy to have them but more so to see them go .

I would push the boat out and have the full banana.

Glad you are mother-in-lawless now, it sounds like you were able to find a way to live with her, but best that its not too often.
Oh wow - I'd love a job where I could travel a bit..the furthest I've gone is Wales for work
Be careful what you wish for, work travel is not that great. You are gone from home 24 hr a day, end up working longer days, and have little control over basic things in life like what and when you eat. Sometimes you do get to see exotic things, but not usually. In my career I have traveled a lot, and if I had it to do over I'd travel a lot less. It was exciting when I first started, but that wore off about 30 years ago. Stay home with your happy family, and travel with them when you can, its a lot better.

:) I'll probably never get used to your evening snack being more than your main meal but it all looks very nice.

That's a fair point Rob - I'd probably feel different now I have the baby. Social work doesn't allow for much fun travel and we work horrible hours anyway!

LaMa, I know - it's not good! I just am in such a rush during the day and used to pick at shit so I'm trying to control what is easiest for me to control at the moment.

I managed to keep my calories good last night - was tempted to have some ice cream but resisted. We have dungeons and dragons at our place tonight but the veg is all prepped to go with dinner so I won't be tempted to deviate from the plan and order a takeaway! Weather a bit better today so going to go out for a walk with L and then visit a friend later. He's not had a poo in 48 hours so leaving the house may be a bit of a risk!!

Perhaps the fresh air will help him along the way Hana . I used to do a little massage on my baby’s tummy when they would be constipated. A little baby oil warmed in my hands . Then a nice warm bath . Helped sometimes .

05/11/19

Breakfast: big bowl of carrots and celery (87)
Lunch: baked potato with baked beans (343)
Dinner: chicken kiev with rice, steamed broc and carrots (614)
Snacks: bottle of fizz for game night (555) rest of salted popcorn (218)

Total: 1817

I could probably do without the alcohol tonight but it's game night at ours and I find it difficult to not join in with the drinking..I looked at the calories in gin and slimline tonic and per "can" it's 75 calories so I may just pick a couple of them up instead which would take my calories much lower. Seems silly to spend as many calories on fizz as I did at breakfast and lunch together but I will enjoy it far more than a potato and veggies so maybe it's okay! :p

Thanks Petal - yes, I hope the air will help! He's a bunged up little bean. Will try the gentle massage after bath tonight.

He's a bunged up little bean.

Aw, the poor pet.

Your mum-in-law sounds like she's in a lot of emotional pain at the moment. I don't really blame her. I think your idea of booking her the flights for your son's 1st birthday was such a good one. She does need things to look forward to. Well done.

Social work doesn't allow for much fun travel
Are you a social worker? That's what my wife does. She once got tied into a group that did independent audits of social work agencies, most required that the auditor be from out of state. She traveled all over the US doing the audits. Being a social worker can be tough without travel.

I think a 75 calorie gin and tonic is probably fine, so are two. I also agree with Emily, it is kind of you to try and understand your mother-in-law.

Hi, sunshine. I hope the tummy massage after the bath worked well. I'm sure he would enjoy a massage anyway? Does L drink much water?

Hi Rob, yes I'm a child protection social worker. Your wife's role sounds interesting, I'd like to go into independent reviewing and audits too eventually. Got to get a few years front line under my belt first.

Hey lovely Cate, yes he has a few sips with solid food now we are weaning but he's a boobie monster so mostly has that!

Thanks Em, I feel more forgiving now she's gone and I've had some time to reflect.

So 204lbs today after two good days - just goes to show that when I put my mind to it I can do it.. Bit of a sore head today, game night was great though and L slept from 1830-0200 and then 0215-0715 which is just amazing for him! I didn't get out of bed until 0700 and I don't think that has happened for months! Off to meet a pal in town soon for lunch and some shopping. I have defrosted some home made casserole (praiiiise the batch cooking past Hana who made a ton and froze it! Present Hana is very grateful!) and we will have that with some basmati rice for dinner.

06/11/2019

Breakfast: slice of toast, satsuma (167)
Lunch: Camembert and a baked potato with chives (665)
Dinner: slow cooker casserole with lots of extra broc and carrots and rice (769)
Snacks: salty popcorn (134)

Total: 1725

Had a lovely time in town today, got a new dress for a party I'm going to on Friday.
