Q, I've missed your lovely face around here! Welcome back!

Me and Yank went out last night. Much fizz was had but this was the first time since weds last week so I'm happy with that. Off to baby cinema today with some mum friends to see the George Michael songs film.. Can't remember the name. Awful reviews. Then D&D tonight and hopefully an earlyish night. Currently creeping around house trying not to wake the baby up from his nap.. Mumma needs more coffee and liquorice tea before facing parenting today!

Oh I thought about going to see that but watched the trailer which I thought was awful so I will wait and see what you think of it Hana . Enjoy the outing anyway .

... I posted to India on Friday !!
Oh, you're super! Well done, for being prepared and getting everything packed and away! I'm lagging badly.

Hana, I love that you're packing so much fun into your life - movie and nights out and D&D with friends - oh, and swimming, if the creche experience improves! Wonderful!

The film was awful! Overly sentimental and poor acting, a shame!

It's been a goodish few days - D&D was good and I didn't drink. Also only had one cider last night as Yank was at a Richard Dawson gig in Brighton and I fancied a treat. I'm going back to the Soup Kitchen tonight - I've volunteered there for a few years but have not been since I was 8 months pregnant as wasn't very safe being in the busy kitchen/floor with substance misuse and fights happening regularly. It sounds like things are not good there at the mo - a couple of new volunteers are rocking the boat a little and apparently safety procedures aren't being followed. I'm going back there every Thursday from tonight and hope I don't butt heads with anyone. I'm quite forthright in my approach and it can rub people up the wrong way and I'm aware I've not been in a while and so don't want to look like I'm over-stepping..there is a staff meeting at 5 so I'm going to walk down with L and he can watch us do that and whilst I prep for the evening service and Yank will collect him around 1800 to bring him home and put him to bed. Fingers crossed it goes okay.

Hana interestingly some friends went and loved it . I didn’t like the trailer so I think based on your review I won’t waste the money .
Good luck with the soup kitchen . Lovely cause it is .

Good for you, with the soup kitchen. It does sound tricky - is it the new volunteers who are thinking they can ditch safety procedures - or maybe just don't have the experience to let them see why the procedures are important.

That's great you are getting back into the soup kitchen volunteering, it sounds like they need your help. I really admire the way you are still so social and interested in things other than your baby! Some people seem to disappear when they have kids, so I think it's cool that you have retained your interests. I would like to be that way too if I ever have one. :)

Thank you everyone - Em, that was my worry so I've made real efforts to get back to things that I want to do. Tis harder now, though, but that is to be expected!
No Amy, I think the new volunteers are quite militant..I worked the door on Thursday and it was like they were all trying to be managers and "who could shout the loudest"...Wasn't ideal. I had a great time though.

It's been a long ol' weekend at my parents. Home now and Yank had L in the night so I'm rested and ready for another day. It is hard when all of my social stuff at the moment seems centered around food. I can eat well if I am home alone with L all day as I can plan and control what I have but I find I can have very good intentions in the morning and then by lunch time I'm in a cafe with a pal ordering a cake! More willpower needed.

Plan for today is to see a friend this morning who is having a bit of a rough time (going to a cafe...of course.) and then onto Baby Sensory group and then to a friends for lunch. I've offered to bring rolls and fillings so I can at least make them healthy.

Thinking ahead for meals out can make such a difference. I´m sure you´ll hit your stride with that as you have with home meals.

Hi, Han. The new volunteers at the soup kitchen sound so different from what I imagine & know you to be. I'm glad you still enjoyed it though.
I think planning ahead can make such a difference, even for cafes. I often look online if I'm eating out to see what healthier alternatives there are. I think just being conscious of what you eat makes a difference too.

Thanks everyone! I ended up making wraps with halloumi and salad, very healthy!

Today has been good - went to Baby Cinema and saw Frozen 2 which was sweet. It's been a rainy sorta day today so we've laid low. Yank has cancelled D&D tonight as we are both tired and wanting an early night. Fingers crossed we can get to bed early after an episode of MindHunter

26/11/19

Breakfast: apple (47)
Lunch: popcorn at cinema, rice with lots of veggies. (830)
Dinner: home-made pasta sauce with olives, courgettes and lots of mushrooms with spaghetti and some cheese (679)
Snacks: 1 G&T (112)

Total: 1668

I'm a bit surprised and disheartened that rice with lots of veg came out to 830. Rice is so convenient, and we tend to have it at least once a week - in fact I had it today for lunch. :( Oh, well - that was then, and a modest tea might still save me. I love that you can factor in the G&T!

The cinema popcorn was probably to blame for half those calories ;)
Looks like a great day, Hana!

Yes, that was the cinema popcorn! God knows why it's so much, it's basically air! Had a good night - L is snotty so was up a lot in the night but me and Yank managed it with good cheer and without murdering each other. Raining horribly here so we are having a day in to help L get over his cold. I've wrapped some presents (who even am I?!) and am just making lunch. All quiet in the Sunflower household!
