Weight-Loss Run!

Weight-Loss
25km! That's half an ultramarathon! Super impressed man! How are you feeling? I'd be trashed. That's my normal run plus a half marathon!

I'm getting used to these 20+ km runs. And because I'm running on a low BPM, I'm not getting that fatigued. Although I could tell during the run I was at a birthday bash the day before :p
But no DOMS or anything following the run.
I'm really liking where I'm going with this. Never thought I could do these longs runs with this relative ease.
Running at least twice a week for a year is really paying off!

A nice fast run Reloaded.

That's awesome and encouraging Guideon! I'm hoping that a year of running, not drinking, and eating well will find me at a normal weight and in exceptional shape. I would enjoy a longer slower run every once in a while. I think frequent long runs will be better when I'm significantly lighter as repetitive stress injuries are an increased concern with me being so big.

12,17 km
Avg BPM: 126
Max BPM: 142

Run to sort of come up with a battle plan for my next race this sunday, a HM
Don't want to go all out, so I'm trying to do something like today, and maybe speed up a little on the second half

Thanks Guideon! Your HR/speed is phenomenal!

Run
30 mins
2.1 miles
HR monitor malfunctioned, but it was in the lower aerobic zone. That was the easiest 2.1 miles yet and consequently it would have been nice to have the data.

Run
30 mins
1.92 miles
138 bpm Avg HR

I cut down dead trees until dark and didn't have much energy left for the run so I took it easy.

No running today, but got my new sunglasses, a Rudy Project with prescription inserts. Off course it hasn't stopped raining since I picked them up :D
It's supposed to be clear tomorrow, so I'll take them on a test-run tomorrow (see what I did there :p ;) ).
Probably going to be an interval training.

Last run before the HM on Sunday.
No intervals, thought I'd take it easy on the legs.
10,19 km
54:10
AVG BPM: 132
Max BPM: 146

Light conditions didn't warrant wearing the new sunglasses, bummer :D
Looking forward to race-day

Good run Guideon. Kick some butt in that half marathon!

I looked at the Rudy Project glasses very cool set up and nice glasses, but I'm too cheap to get them. Needing prescription glasses would likely change that because most of them are pretty high.

Run
30 minutes
2.1 miles
avg hr 147 bpm

What a great race today.
HM in 1:45:34 (although my GPS watch says it was 400 m short of the full HM-distance).
avg BPM: 150
max BPM: 180 (during a mad sprint for the finish :) )

Very pleased with this, it's great to see all the hard work done in training really pays off!
Pic of me, just before the finish

Finally a decent pic of me running :p

Looking good Guideon! Great time! Are those the new glasses? If so they certainly got there test run. How are you feeling after?

Yes those are my new glasses, they've been tested today and passed with flying colors.
Felling pretty good now, bit tight in one leg (should start looking for a sports masseur I guess).
Should be able to get up and down the stairs in a fairly decent matter tomorrow :p
But overall feeling so much better than after the first HM, which was only 2 months ago. Still so pleased to see what training does for your endurance.

I look forward to the point in my life when weight isn't limiting my running distances. That may be phase 2 some time after my 30 minute 5K goal is met.

Run
30 minutes
2.40 miles
159 bpm avg hr
I went a bit too hard this evening, but I felt fine and feel great now.

PR +0.01 mile for 30 minutes

First Post, thought it would be best here since running is something I want to really get back into doing.

Just ran my first 5K in 20 years last Saturday, had to take a number of walk breaks but crossed the line at 38:37. I was happy just to be under 40 minutes.

Looking at my Basis stats, My BPM high was at 156. Looks like it didn't keep very good track though, so it probably wasn't tight enough for when I was actually running.

Recently lost 50 lbs and really still have about another 100 to go to be at a normal weight.

My goal right now it to run the whole thing and do it in under 30 minutes.

Looks like my next 5K will be May 31st.

Hi caddius, welcome!
Good first run.
Be sure to take it easy though. Your joints and muscles need to get used to running again, if you do too much too soon you'll injure yourself.
So listen to your body and when warning signs are there, heed warning!

Happy running!

Another PR, way to go!

My weight will always be an issue when running, every once you loose you don't need to carry with you. Although my weight isn't a limiting factor as such, I'd like to loose another 10 to 15 pounds to be on... well not ideal running weight, but a good running weight.
Hope to achieve it by running. Loosing weight by doing something I've grown to love, perfect combination :)

Started training today for my next 5K. My goal is to run the entire length and then to get my time under 30 Minutes.

I walked 5 mins, ran 8, walked 5, ran 8, walked 5.
Using this strategy: I am on Workout 2 week 5.
I started there as it was the best point at which I was already at.

Felt really good. I can tell my body is adapting.

BPM was between 155-148

Was planning on a recovery run which turned into a long run.
Kept it pretty relaxed, low BPM and comfortable pace.
