Chef very good runs! Good frequency too.

Very nice run PG! You are much faster than me already.

So I was super busy down in south Texas this past week which is why I haven't posted since Monday.

3/11/14 Tuesday
Pretty easy day in the field with mild weather and a short (8hr) day.
2.2 miles
157 bpm avg hr
I seem to be working harder heart rate wise and getting the same distance.

3/12/2014 Wednesday
A long day of field work (12.5 hours)

Run
2.2 miles
153 bpm avg hr
30 min

I overdid things Wednesday and had stomach problems after my run. I ended up going to bed by 8:20. I also stayed up too late Tuesday night so I started the day off without enough sleep.

Today
I have a functioning GPS watch now and I am excited about that. I've had 2 days without a run, but neither were rest days. I haven't decided if I wil run today or not, but I probably will tonight.

Moses I have started stretching daily and it has helped a lot. I do short active stretching before and longer static stretching after. It has helped with back, hip, and knee pain. I 100% recommend it.

Run

The hip was a bit bothersome. First run with the new watch and I really like it.

I killed 2 goals today!! Ice is still wicked here so I went off roading in the snow banks.
5 km in 28:10 and 10 km in 1:08:30!

I can't believe it. There were walk breaks and I am so incredibly tired, but I did it and am so excited!

I DID IT, I DID IT, I DID IT!!! I ran a whole mile at 6 MPH without stopping!!! Now, I know that's not a huge accomplishment, but it's a big step in the right direction for me and I'm pretty pumped about it. Although, I was deeeeead tired from it and had a really rough go at lifting weights tonight, HAHAHA.

Lots of hip pain. Stretched a lot after.

Yeah, I'm like super tough now.

Good job yourself, man. Well, minus the hip pain. That umm...that's not something worth congratulating. Hope it goes away soon.

Hi everyone, Q tipped me off on this thread, so here i am.

Brief introduction:
I'm from the Netherlands (this is the point where I patiently wait for the cheers and applause to die down, eventually :) ).
Been working on my weight since feb 2010, lost 70 pounds.
Took up running last year, somewhere in may, it must have been.
Started out with a couch to 5k program.
After I had done that, I built my distance to 10 k, then 15 k which was about the most I felt comfortable with at the end of 2013.
Despite not taking it too far too fast I suffered an injury at the end of 2013: runner's knee. Took me a good month to recover from that, and started 2014 with less running miles than I hoped.
But I'm bakc on track, and 2014 is the year of achieving goals for me.
First accomplished goal of 2014: ran my first half marathon, two weeks ago.
Up next: the marathon in Berlin in September. My training for the marathon starts this weekend, can't wait :)

Hope to share a lot of great running achievements with all of you here, and help keep each other motivated to keep on running.

Cheers!

Nice, good job, man.

Glad to see you here Guideon!

Good run Chef!

I had to take it easy tonight and it made me feel better. I need to do a few easy runs until my hip setles down and then I wil find a pattern to mix in easy and hard runs that doesn't overdo it.

Run
30 mins
1.9 miles
136 bpm avg hr

I did a set of 5 reps each arm with some 50lb dumbbells after my run. I did some stretching before and after the run as well.

Beautiful weather here today, lots of sunshine, but also some wind (to keep it challenging I guess)
Intervalrun
8 intervals of 2 mins at Z4, with 2 min rest. (5 min warmup, 5 min cooldown)

7.88 km
42,25 mins

Very happy with this training, as I'm actively trying to change from a heel-strike to a mid-foot strike. Went well this training.

I ran without hip pain for the first time in WAY too long! I used the limber 11 from DeFranco. Number 6 didn't feel good on my back and I modified the mountain climbers to where I didn't do the jump in between. The foam rolling and the lacrosse ball part did the most I think, but the hip flexor stretch was great too.

Run
30 minutes
2.21 miles

I realized that I was getting hardly any push off my right leg with the hip flexor pain. The run felt pretty easy.

Nice run Guid!

That's awesome, man. I know how bad (from living with a certain you-know-who) having hip pain can interfere with a person's life, especially when it comes to working out. Glad you're feeling better.
