Rosered's Diary

Hey there sweetie! Just wanted to check on ya! I'm so proud of you for quitting.. Your doing great!! Hope you have a happy new year!!

I gave up a year before my first was born, hes 5 in febuary. So coming up to 6yrs not smoking,I still have one occassionally if I have been drinking.Ive had 3 over the last year, and I cough a lot after and regret it!
I also still remember how hard it was to give up.Especially when people were smoking around you!Stick with it girl!We are here to 'egg' you on!
My sense of smell came back too,its amazing to smell the little things you couldnt before! The money you save is great, put what you would have spent on them in a jar!
It will be enough for another trip to dream world before you know it!
I hope you have a GREAT NEW YEAR and party on tonight,I know I will!!!!!;) :p

hey rose, congrats on the smoking!!! i've reached the point where a neighbor of mine smokes and i'm so disgusted when the smell comes wafting underneath my door. i can't believe i used to smell like that!!! it takes a while, but you will eventually be fine with the cravings, etc. i still have the RARE occasion when i feel a craving, but it's nothing near what i was dealing with before.

i'm so impressed! keep up the great work :)

Good for you...smoking is tough. They say its as hard as quiting an addictive street drug... It is so important for your health to quit...good for you!

hey lady, want to wish you a happy and healthy and safe new year! :D

Rosered, I am SO proud of you for quitting smoking! I wish my mom would quit, she's a chimney and when I go to her house I leave smelling like an ashtray and I hate it! You are so great, not only losing weight, but quitting smoking too. Two demons gone! Congratulations!

Hey Tina thanks hun.

Hey magenta I hope I never pick up a cigarette again I don’t think it would be as easy to give up the second time around. Im saving over $400 a month:eek: by not smoking (can you believe that?) im saving up for a holiday in November.:D

Oh heather no one told me it was going to get this bad lol, so much for me thinking it could only get better. Well I don’t know how many poor buggers had to put up with my filthy habit so I guess it’s my turn…like they say paybacks a bitch.

Hey stop it’s not the quitting that’s the hard part it’s all the new tastes and smells that are amazing:cool: . This is the first time I have been smoke free in 27 years. I started smoking when I was 9 years old (yes I needed a good kick in the butt).

Thanks scrappy you’re not to bad yourself hun.:D

Good to see you funnky, I wish I could say that I was loosening weight butt I seem to be putting it on:( and I can’t work out why:confused: … I will get there though. Thanks for the encouragement hun.

well done on quiting smoking, my hubby is on his second day and is murder to live with at the moment.

Lol tru I do feel sorry for you, my hubby has never had a smoke in his life. Ever since I gave up smoking he has been a little cranky himself…we worked out what was wrong…he was going through withdrawals. We have lived together for 15 years ….I feel terrible.

awww poor things! You'll see though, this is the best thing for ya! I've taken care of LOTS of patients that were dying of emphazema. He'd sit there and cough and cough and cough, real hard coughs, till his face was purple. We'd sit outside his door waiting for him to stop breathing. ITs awful :(

Anyways, glad your quitting hun! I"m proud of you!

:) Look forward to a healthier new you!!!!Have you had a look at the CSIRO diet book out now?My sister in law gave me a copy for christmas.I am going to go on it this week,it was developed in my home town Adelaide SA!
So all the ingredients will be easy to find!
It has a lot of meat in it,and there are rumours that it was an advertisement for the meat/livestock industry. They partly funded it,but it only suggests beef or lamb 3 or 4 times a week,so thats not that much!
It is suposed to really keep you full, and not deprived or hungry.
I think this is my year to fulfil my new years resolution to loose weight! Its basic meals and everything in moderation, something every diet should be.
I really dont like a diet, like the atkins, that cuts out an entire food group or limits it anyway!
That cant be good for you, thats my 2cents anyway! They might have a copy in the public librarys by now, have a squiz at it for free!:)

Hey magenta you can have a look at the csrio diet at there site, it’s not for me though not enough snacks lol. I hope it works really well for you.

hey rose, congrats on keeping with the no-smoking!!! the first two months were my hardest. after that, it was almost like i never smoked. well - ok no, not like i never smoked, but rather. . . . . .i wasn't constantly consumed with the need to replace my addiction to cigarettes with something else.

also, your metabolism can change when you quit smoking, so you may find that you do gain weight for a little while during the time period that your body adjusts to the new, healthy you. ;) this is what i've read, anyway.

and it's really great to hear that your hubby is a nonsmoker, because i think that really contributes to an ex-smoker's success - to have those closest to us be nonsmokers is a HUGE help.

Thanks heather

Well im off bush walking today for my exercise so im looking forward to that, I don’t think im up to much else today. Looking forward to starting the challenge tomorrow girls and kicking some butt. I will update on food later.

Rosered,
I thought of you today...
DH and I drove to Columbia today to take the family to a children's musuem. It was a very cool place! Everything was hands-on and the kids had a blast. One of the exhibits was on Australia and they even had a small section of items that you would purchase at an Australian store. I smiled after seeing both vegmite and marmite! Yum-yum, Rosered's yeast extract! LOL
