LaMa I may hold you to that! I've not yet made plans for my summer break :)

Thank you Jenni, it'll all be worth the hard work in the end

Trusylver as long as they're not from the cricket the pictures will be welcome :p

Just a quick visit this evening to post a pic of my steps...

Wow. Look at you! Well done on the steps Stan & getting that resting heart rate down.
What did I hear about cricket? We love the barmy army btw :D They add a lot to the atmosphere, even when you are watching at home. I especially loved them stirring because Australia had no reviews left the other night. That was a scream :)

They're a pretty dedicated bunch Cate, just wish the players could match that dedication! Another whitewash on the way I fear :(

So, just under 13k steps today and just over 1500 cals. People are starting to notice results now and my clothes have a very different feel to them. I'm starting to notice my work shirt is much looser and is also getting itself untucked quite easily; this is the precurser to having to tighten my belt a notch :D Only issue is I'll have to go shopping as I'm already on my last notch! yay!

Snow is forecast overnight so I'm not sure what scenes I'll awaken to in the morning, the UK deals so badly with snow. It's currently forecast to snow until Sunday evening and I'm not sure if this'll impact on my steps o_O I wear a pair of running shoes with additional gel insoles along with a second pair of socks in order to stop my feet from getting sore with all the steps I'm doing; only issue is I've worn off all the grip on the soles. Really not sure how they'll react with snow or ice! I may have to switch to my walking boots, but I'll not manage anywhere near the same step count in them as they're nowhere near as padded.

At least my avatar will feel at home tomorrow lol :p

Hmmm, sorry, had to share this... Just popped onto the bbc news website to check the latest weather before bed and also had a quick browse of the local headlines; this naturally caught my eye

This isn't a million miles away from my town, and I've spent a fair amount of time in Wolverhampton over the last few years. It's a nice place actually, but a small percentage of the locals are definitely the sort of people I'd expect to cement their own heads into a microwave o_O

:eek2: :eek2: :eek2: That´s... a thing that will now be in my search history forever.

Soft inlays for hiking boots can sometimes be very helpful.

So the snow came but not as much as feared, it's very icy underfoot in places and I slipped a few times. I also forgot to take a nice snowy picture. We've got quite a lot forecast for tomorrow so I chose to get some big steps in today while the going was only slightly hazardous! Managed over 23,500 in total from two walks which is just over 11 miles - pleased with that, especially as I fitted my last bits of online xmas shopping in between walks :)

Calories were about 2000 today even though it felt like I grazed for most of the day.

I'm reaching the stage now where I'm feeling myself getting frustrated for not getting instant results. I know how stupid that is though so I'm ready to ignore the voice of my inner-doubt. Might even have to print myself a copy of that cartoon from your diary LaMa!

Inner-doubt is only being fed to be honest by feeling a bit pressured. Uni assessments are due, exams are immediately after new year, work isn't the nicest place to be at the moment due to others, uni friends want to put me on a dating site and (gulp!) Girl saga rumbles on when it really shouldn't be  my fault for unblocking her :banghead: Anyway, 11 miles was very therapeutic today

Well done getting your steps in! Reblock the drama please though, and forget about dating sites while you´re stressing about exams :)

I know you're right LaMa :)

Feeling unwell today, can't put my finger on it though, just unwell. I'm very headachy and tired and I can feel a cold sore coming up on my lip so I'm thinking maybe I'm just a bit run-down and a tad overstressed perhaps. I made sure my calories are going to be at or slightly above my 2000 limit today to help me feel stronger.

Anyway, got my 10k steps in today despite the 5 inches of snow on the ground. First time I've managed 10k or more every day in a week for some time

Cold sores do have a tendency to come up when people are stressed/overworked/weakened but they can then cause generalized unwellness themselves (or even bad fevers, they´re called Fieberblase in German, which translates to fever blister).

Oh noos, just when you got over the manflu ... we had a bit of snow too - 2-3 inches. It is actually quite a lot for us this early in the year. We usually don't see snow until January. Snows maybe twice a year. This year we may get more, I guess. Feel better soon, Stan! :)

I love German words, they're so matter-of-fact. Although I can only think of handschuhe as an example at the moment lol

I'm picturing those walk photos of yours all covered in snow now Jenni! This much snow is pretty rare in my part of England, we had another inch and a half to two inches overnight. Only the main roads are semi-clear so travel is a bit hazardous. Stan is being very careful on the road!

Because it's so bad out, no extra steps today although I did manage 8k at work. Had our works xmas meal this evening; secret santa probably needs to consider whether his gifts are appropriate too, there were plenty of very iffy presents being passed around! Stan probably wont be trying out his new Rudolph thong in a rush anyway  Anyway, calories were a little over 2000 despite the meal.

Yeah, masks and anonymity rarely bring out the best in people.
Thanks for the link, Tru, that's so cool!

Good luck with your assessments and exams Stan. Do you mind if I ask what you are studying? I am really impressed with your activity. I hope to increase my daily steps and distance over the next couple of weeks too.

I'm still here Jenni, dont worry :) Still feeling a little unwell to be honest, but nothing debilitating.

Weather has been appalling here since the weekend. The snow came down heavy during Sunday, then froze so walking was a no-go really. There was a good thaw with some overnight rain and then warmer temperatures and showers today and it was starting to look like I might be able to get some steps in finally. Popped up to the supermarket to get some beers and toiletries for xmas gifts and in the 20 minutes I was in there the heavens opened and dumped a whole blizzard load of fresh snow on us. It's pretty as anything but I'm hoping it wont stick around long as I'm missing my walks!

Just look at the tail off in steps lol...

Could do with the therapy of a good walk too. Girl is now blocked again but she didn't take it well last night and we had a prolonged whatsapp argument over it before I finally cut her off. Work was a nightmare today, such an atmosphere but only the two of us knew why. Everyone else put it down to us both having separate bad days o_O I hope tomorrow is easier.

Good luck with your assessments and exams Stan. Do you mind if I ask what you are studying? I am really impressed with your activity. I hope to increase my daily steps and distance over the next couple of weeks too.

Thanks Clackedy :) Sometimes I have to really force myself to go, but most of the time I really enjoy getting out and walking. I'm studying for a degree in Building Surveying. I don't know how that translates into the various forms of English used around the globe, but in mainland Europe they'd probably call the course Building Engineering.

Tru, great work :D Going to try and get some good images for that thread  Just need this snow and ice to get gone first lol

Sorry to hear about the ongoing troubles with girl. Good for you for cutting it off, tho. Try not to let her behavior affect the quality of your day. Easier said than done, I know. When I'm in a situation where another's behavior is affecting the quality of my life, I just try to keep in mind that their crap is their responsibility. All I have to do is the next right thing and take ownership for my own behavior.

Got no appetite at the moment; the last couple of days has been a real bind to eat. I don't want breakfast and I'm not hungry at lunchtime. The only time I want to eat is around 7 in the evening but even then I'm feeling sick after a few mouthfulls. On the one hand, this is clearly a dream situation! On the other hand, having to force food in can't be right o_O Just over 1300 calories yesterday and 1100 today. It's only 2 days I guess, nothing to panic over but that's not enough for a guy of my size if it carries on. I'll be losing too quickly, surely?

15.5k of steps today (burned more calories doing that than I ate today according to the app!). Managed to get out between sleet showers tonight although the paths were very icy still. Coming back home I almost went down several times, the melt water was freezing again and was sooo tricky to see where it was :(

Thanks for your words Jenni. Things remain a little messy but after tomorrow I wont see her for almost a week so I'm hoping things will settle down a bit.

Stan, this stress is not good for you. Be firm with her & be strong for yourself. You deserve better than this. Take care xo
PS Your Pommy test team did a fair bit better yesterday. We have a test match again!
