Rebel's Diary

Well done Rebel. It's even more important to look after yourself when a funk comes on. Take care of yourself xo

I hope your stomach didn't feel bad after dinner but I'm delighted you managed to get some more calories in than you looked you were going to have for today. Very well done, Rebel! :grouphug:
Yea it was a lot of food but OMG soooo good. I have always had a huge appetite so it wasnt an issue. My big appetite and sugars and starches is what got me in trouble. All my meals are pretty big they just dont have alot of calories in them.

Thanks for checking in on me <3

Hey Rebel, I don't know if you noticed it but I am SO proud of you so I had to point it out - do you notice the increase in exercise you're doing? From your first few days of posting with no exercise and some reasons why to fishing, carrying deer feed? Doing the sit-down workouts? Walking? Give yourself a pat on the back, buddy! That's awesome!

Also, good for you for getting your calories up - it really is hard. I get into 'obsessive' thoughts easily and have to snap myself out of it - I don't even realize that I'm lowering calories but then I'm sitting at 1000 or less and it's back to square one of healthy eating. While I really don't meal plan well, I do love having things like meatballs pre-cooked or bags of veggies that I like ready to go with them. And of course...peanut butter lol! Vega protein or nutritional powder is another thing I love - it's super-healthy, a tad expensive but tastes amazing! It's an indulgent treat for me.

You are doing amazing even through a funk! You may be running into the lifestyle change wall too - the first few days/weeks can be exciting because it's a change and you're so gung-ho about doing this. After awhile though, your body gets more used to it but starts craving the junk - even without realizing it. You kinda feel...off? Like not sick but just...wrong. At least, that's how I feel. Try to change the 'funky' thoughts - if you start beating yourself up, remind yourself how awesome you're doing. If you start to feel like your food choice is boring, remind yourself how good it is for your body. All those little things you are doing are making a HUGE change.

:D You're doing wonderfully!

Yea the diets i have been on in the past were just too restrictive. I would do great and after 3-5 days i just couldn't do it anymore. I grew up on a farm and farmboys like to eat lol. Those diets that are really restrictive 800-1000 calories i would always be starving.
So this time me and my aunt; also my doctor figured out a way i can have large meals without a huge calorie impact.
Like for breakfast ill have scrambled eggs. But instead of just 3 eggs ill have 2 whole eggs and about 12 ounces of egg whites and thats a platefull and only b 300-400 calories with some turkey bacon. And ill roast some veggies squash tomatoes onion mushrooms and a whole skillet full maybe 300 calories or so. So im getting plenty of food and not starved at all.
In the past there would b carbs in my diet. Pototoes pasta and sugar are my addiction so im staying away from those because when i have them i want more. So basically if its white it doesnt hit my plate. Things like white bread taters white rice sugar i just dont allow it. Those are those foods that once i start eating i want more and more. Plus the fact those foods really mess with my blood sugar.
So its all going well i just take it one day at a time.

Thanks for everything <3

I have the same problem with sugar - but luckily not with potatoes. No sugar at all for me for a while. Bulking out your meals with veggies is a wonderful solution all around.

The potatoes and rice and such i do love but i mostly took those out of my diet due to how they make my blood sugar levels climb. The veggies i love but they can get expensive when you start buying large amounts. I'm thinking planting a garden in the spring. Thats the good thing about the Texas climate. Most things grow year round.

I got my scale yesterday. Since when does it take so much courage to step on a scale? I guess with changing the way i eat and not feeling like im on a diet i was somehow afraid i had somehow gained weight. I knew i hadn't because i had to tighten up me belt, shirts a lil looser and i can see the difference in my face. Even with the signs of losing weight i was scared to death to c the number. Anyway when i started to eat the way im eating i weighed 500 lbs. Now after 10 days or so i now weigh 458. Just changing the way i eat i dropped 42 pounds. No wonder im able to move a little better.
It would be nice if i could lose that much every few weeks. I know its just because im so overweight that i lost so much. The huge weight drop will normalize as my weight gets lower. It could also normalize to dropping 2-5 pounds a week right away. I guess as my BMR drops so will the weight loss.
Its odd that im not all that excited about the loss but im sure its just the emotional funk im in.
Rebel

The BMR calculator i had used had my bmr at 4540. I tried 3 others and they list about half of that. It really doesn't matter since i have such a hard time getting my calories even close to 2000. Well its a learning curve.

Does anyone know of whole wheat grains i could put into my food plan. I know of brown rice and wild rice but i know there are other grains out there im just not sure what their names are.
Thanx

Quinoa, barley, rye? All grains come whole or polished (wheat, too), usually it's just a matter of looking at the package. Since "whole grain" is a selling point these days, companies are sure to advertise it.
Also: congratulations on a massive drop! I'm delighted that you're seeing such a change in so little time :grouphug: You must have shed a lot of water weight along with the fat, which is extremely helpful and should mean a big load off your heart.

Breakfast- oatmeal-w-raisins-w-banana-w-peanut butter (614 calories)

Lunch- yogurt x2 ( 240 calories)

Dinner- 3 salmon steaks (500 calories)

Snack- small v8 juice (30 calories)

BMR=2990
Cals=1384
Total -1606

Hey sweet - I love pearl barley but it's not for everyone..good with chilli/curry etc. Quinoa is good if you mix it with brown rice - wild rice is AWESOME but really expensive here. Thanks for your support in my diary - I love this place. We are all so behind each other. Hope you have a great Saturday Rebel x

Oh, well done Rebel. What a great loss. It's important to give yourself credit, when you deserve it, even when you feel like you're getting in a funk. You are doing very well!
