That actually sounds pretty goodMake it with sweet potatoes or pumpkin, rather than white potato. It's funny because that's what we had yesterday & the day before (with sweet potato).
Thats true it is. I think she changed it up a bit because of my irish grandfather. Hers isnt traditional hackbraten. The braten is cooked normally then once its cooled its chopped up and mixed with a small amout of peas carrots and baby pearl onions. Then mixed with a rather sweet gravy then finally topped with mashed taters and baked off. Omg so goodThat is funny as normally German Hackbraten is just minced meat with veggies (baked off in the oven) - no carbs needed.
Its a milk gravy. Just about the time the gravy is done you add a pulverized cookie. Normally something like snickerdoodle would be used. If not that white sugar or brown sugar could be used. You dont add so much that its sickly sweet just enough to give it a mildy sweet componet. I was raised eating it but yes i c it is an odd ingredient in gravy lol.Sweet gravy? What is this abomination?!
Very trueNever mind: I ate sandwiches with nutella and gouda whenever I could get away with it. I understand that we all have our quirks/traditions/comfort foods.
