-Each day that you consume and additional 14 grams of fiber (that you normally consume), or a minimum of 20-25 grams of fiber per day, give yourself 1 point. (Note: increase fiber gradually to avoid stomach upset, gas and diarrhea.)"

"Research shows that eating an additional 14 grams of fiber per day is associated with a 10 percent decrease in calorie intake and a loss of body weight of a four pounds in four months. Eating more high-fiber foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains is a nutritionally sound way to not feel as hungry when reducing calorie intake.

"While most Americans associate fiber with colon health (83 percent), only half (56 percent) are aware that it can help them lose weight. According to the survey, only 4 percent of Americans say they take a fiber supplement on a daily basis.

The recommended adult intake of fiber is 28 to 38 grams per day. Yet, government studies show that the typical American eats less than half of what they need -- about 12 to 15 grams of fiber per day."

Hey Playmates!!! We had a great week but apparently not good enough! Spartans once again came out swinging. They did an amazing job this week, hats off to them. And Paula kicked into high gear on the Hooters teams. It's great to see everyone stepping it up.

This week I'm really going to focus on my diet. I've got the working out down, but my diet needs to be tightened up. It's difficult for me right now because I am training heavily and I have to carb load to have the energy and endurance to do my long runs...hum, I need to figure out a way to fine tune my eating. That will be my #1 focus this week along w/getting in fiber.

I don't normally think about fiber so this will be a challenge for me. I'll do my best to get in as much as possible. I have my 1/2 marathon this Sunday so hopefully I can balance losing weight w/out being weak and tired for my run...

GO PLAYMATES!! Nothing like being in last place to light a fire under my bootie!
 
What are you girls doing to get your fiber in. I need some major pointers here or I'll be drinking metimucil w/the old folks trying to hold back some diarrhea at work! LOL Kidding, but definitely can use some tips here.
 
I love fiber one bars.. oats and chocolate flavor... mmm just like a chocolate granola bar but 9 grams of fiber in one bar! Besides that I have been putting 1 tbs of psyllium husks in a smoothie. 9 grams of fiber in one tbs.. and you dont taste it in a smoothie...

Alta has some kind of recipe for a shake too that includes the psyllium seeds if you dont like smoothies..

Great idea! I'll check in w/my sis to see if we have psyllium husk. She is really good about scrubbing her colon, I'm sure she'll have something of the sort.

Hey ladies!! It's a brand new week and I'm ready to get crackin'!! I only did cardio over the weekend and no weights. I have decided that 7 days of weights is just too much for me...anyone else feeling this way? I already work out 6 days a week and the majority of my workouts are cardio (running)...I guess the structure of the exercise points is not in my favor.

I'll start trying to get 3pts a day starting today!!

My goal is to now really focus on my diet and get some poundage off...that is where I'll make up my lack of weight lifting points!!
