Week 12: Bonus Challenge 8/30/08-9/05/08
Each day that you drink a minimum of 64oz of water, AND you sleep for a minimum of 8 hours, give yourself one point.

I know we've done these two before, but I am combining them into one for this weeks challenge.

Just a reminder:

Water: Assists chemical reactions such as the burning of glucose and the breakdown of fat for energy

Here are some interesting facts:

* 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This likely applies to half the world population)
* Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
* One glass of water shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
* Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. :svengo:
* A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
* Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

Lack of sleep increases overeating

Sorry about my points this week guys.. i have really been in a funk lately.. i think school starting really got me stressed out and I had too much on my plate.

I had surgery on my ear yesterday and am not able to exercise for 2 weeks they say.. I did not know that or I would have worked really hard earlier in the week to get some points in! I thought i was just getting a mole taken off but it was a lot more serious..I have also not been able to sleep because I have to sleep sitting up straight which doesnt fly with me.. i prefer the fetal position lol..

I had to get a skin graft on my ear after the surgery and they say that the graft will not take if blood rushes to my head or i accidentally bump it or anything so i am walking around all slow like a zombie bc i don't want my ear to shrivel up!!! they told me i even need someone else to tie my shoes for me and I am not able to wash my hair because of the bandages!!!! 2 weeks with nasty hair!... i usually take 2 showers a day so i have really been down in the dumps bc i feel nasty... anyways...

maybe we can work something out for this week where my points don't count against the team or i get the same points of my teams average? I can defiantly do the bonus challenge of sleep and water but i dont want to hurt the team! Let me know what you guys think..

Hey Christen! Holy Moley! Sorry to hear about your mole situation. I'm getting a small one removed in a few weeks too, I hope I don't have to sleep sitting up! Yikes.

I hope you take good care of your new skin, that's what is most important.

As for points, I can totally do the teams average with 3 people instead of 4, until you are able to exercise again. If you think you can do the bonus challenge, you can just try to get those points meanwhile, or you can opt out on all until you are well enough.

I'll leave it up to you, but it won't hurt your team at all if I average just 3 until you are back. So don't worry! Take care of yourself.

The only reason mine was so tough is because of the location.. they had to cut off the tip of my ear to make sure they got it all out since it was precancerous.. then since it was on my ear.. they didnt want it to look like a rat took a bite out of it so i had to get a skin graft...thats why i cant exercise or anything.. i actually feel great but the doctor said i cant bend over and tie my shoes, exercise, sweat, or anything that would make blood rush to my head or the skin graft wouldn't take!! i dont want it to shrivel up so i am just taking it easy! :chillpill:

I am sure yours will be fine!! I am going to get some of my stitches out on Thursday so I am going to ask if I can do some light exercise.. hopefully they say yes!

yeah i was my left side...you dont really think about sunscreen on the ears! but if you have fair skin its important.. im glad they cut this thing off i dont want cancer..but it itches like hell! I cant wait to get this bandage off next friday!

Okay I have done my research on the hotels. I say we stay at The Sahara. It is right on the strip so we can just walk everywhere.
All the rooms are just standard rooms (two beds) and are $163.75 a night. That is the rate for Thursday the 6th through Saturday the 8th. So, total for each person with taxes and cancellation waver is $140.73. Going off of the responses I did get from the PM's I have made room lists:

I'm guessing we'll book our room this week. I will be in the middle of month end close at work so unfortunately I have to fly in Friday night or early Saturday morning. I'm getting excited though...it's right around the corner!!

I think you all know my left shin and my right ankle are really bothering me from my marathon training. I've decided to take a few days off this week from exercising to rest up for my 18 mile run this Saturday. This means my points are going to be unusually low. I'm sorry ladies...I am in pain and I'm doing the best I can to try to squeeze in breaks for my legs between my long runs.

I'll try to at least do weights for the other body parts and maybe some pilates...but not sure yet. Hope to be on track soon!!

Diet is good, sleep is good, water intake is good....hopefully I can loose some weight this week!!

Sorry to hear about the death in your family. My condolences.

I know your mind is probably not on points right now, but I noticed you posted on the forum almost every day last week, and even on Friday, but never posted any points at all during the week. I know this because I was searching away for anything with points on it to help out the Playmates.

Just want to remind you and anyone else reading this, that events come up unexpectedly, and posting your points during the week, will help out the team, in the event you can't post anything, or have an emergency to tend to.

Sensa- If you want to take this week off from points while you are preoccupied with the family, let me know, and I will average the team with 3 players this week.

Take as much time as you need. Let me know either way what you want to do.
