Not Stopping This Time

Fair treatment can only be a good thing. I hope your stomach feels better so you can get some proper nutrition in you again.

Hi, Kyle. Relationships certainly need a lot of maintenance for them to work properly, It's good that you are both benefiting from being kinder & more considerate to one another. I hope your stomach settles down too. Be very kind to your stomach as it sounds like it needs some TLC :)

@LaMaria @Cate @alligatorob @aiminglow
My stomach gave me some discomfort today too. I have a feeling it's related to poor sleep during these nasty hot nights in Southern California. I will try to take it easy on the spicy foods for now.

I woke up late today so I didn't have time to weight myself. But I have a good feeling I will be under 270 and I will not be going up into the 270s anymore. Let's see tomorrow morning.

My weight is sort of stagnating lately. I am seriously considering adding some light running to my current regimen of diet and weightlifting. Maybe a quick run after I get home from work sometimes. I just think what I have been doing is not quite enough to see the kind of results I am looking for.

@Trusylver
My lifting? Quite a light routine. Not trying to buff up. Warm-up treadmill 10min. 2x12reps for one major exercise (benchpress, squat, deadlift, pullup, incline benchpress) 2x12reps or 3x12reps for 2 or 3 minor exercises. 15-30min sauna/jacuzzi. I know it's not intense, but at least it's enjoyable and I do see results.

I am getting alot from this book The Obesity Code. It scientifically describes why certain diets don't work and why certain foods cause weightgain. It's all about insulin and insulin-resistance. So far I took away some practical tips for me. Skip breakfast if you're not hungry as delayed eating extends the fasting period which helps with insulin-resistance. Also stay away from highly refined carbs, as well as sucrose, fructose and artificial sweeteners. Maybe that is oversimplifying. So read the book for details.

Good news, the changes I made to my diet had a result of making my weight loss more consistent. Skipping breakfast (if I'm not hungry) and avoiding highly processed carbs. I even had some fruit between lunch and dinner. My weight still went down, whereas before it kept jumping up and down and very slowly going down. I think this change in my eating will make a big improvement in my progress. I'm very happy about this.

Avoiding highly processed carbs (or highly processed anything, really) sounds healthy. Plus of course more fiber usually means you stay full longer. Skipping breakfast is a big nono for me, personally, because even if I´m not hungry by 8 (I usually eat breakfast around 6:30) I will be hungry before lunch and when I´m hungry I can´t think straight and I don´t want to eat anything healthy anymore. My dad never has breakfast though, just a cup of coffee and a piece of fruit around 10:30 am, and it works wonderfully for him so to each their own.

Hi @LaMaria . I understand that this would not work for everyone. I just tend to not eat breakfast anyways, so it just means not snacking in the morning. It's not such a change for me, and it is effective. That's why I want to do it.

Hi, Kyle. I love your chart & it's new trend. Long may it continue :)
I'm doing IF too now, starting at 8 pm last night. My eating "window" is going to be between 12 noon & 8 pm. I usually have a substantial breakfast, so my stomach is complaining already, but I'm going to ignore it.

Wow, that's so inspiring that you are doing it too, Cate! Is this a new practice for you?

Hey Kyle, I wish you good luck with your weight loss project. I am also new to this forum, however, I have been trying to lose weight to reach my optimal weight for the last 8 months, it isn't easy at all. The most important thing is to take care of your diet, I don't know if you already have a plan for your diet, but I've been using this program spam link removed (against forum rules) the last 7 weeks and to be honest I thought at the beginning it was a rubbish program, however with the time has gone by I have seen some progress. so have a look at it in case you need some guidance with that area of your project.
Anyways hope you reach your goal soon.

Hi, Kyle. I have done IF before, & was successful, but the method I used was 5:2, which is eating "normally" (to your TDEE) 5 days a week but only eating 500 cals on 2 days of the week. I think doing 16:8 would be more beneficial for your health & energy levels & once my body gets used to it I hope that it will become a way of eating for me, without me having to think about it too much.

That's intense. I don't know if I can do even 5:2. I did a 22 hour fast yesterday. It was ok, not too difficult. But I didn't lose any weight. So it was a little frustrating. However I realize weight loss doesn't always just come right away. Anyways there are other health benefits to fasting besides weight loss.

I think we have to remember that fasting is good for us, but it does feel frustrating to fast & not lose weight straight away. I'm going to play around with my eating times to see what works for me.

Yes, I am trying to see it more as a health improvement than purely a weight loss strategy.
