Anyone who loses over 9 pounds in a single week has every right to feel delighted with the result.

I had to remind Jimmy every single time from the beginning of the challenge, and am simply no longer willing to do so.

Tasha got back to me, she said she would get Brad to contact me and let me know whether he's still in the challenge with us or not.

The people who are most active in the challenge threads are the ones that tend to get the most out of a challenge. I do not think that Jimmy has ever been particularly active in the challenge threads.

Oh, it's not supposed to take anything away. It's a formality at best. You did brilliantly, and you should be proud of yourself!!! :grouphug:

Nope, I don't think so either.

New mini challenge for next week, as sent to me by Christine: :)

25 jumping jacks starting Saturday and increased by 5 everyday for 2 points. (Apparently, Jumping Jacks are also known as 'Star Jumps')
No pre-packaged food like frozen dinners, pizza, chicken wings, and nothing you can microwave for 2 mins for a quick meal. The idea is to get back to the basics. When all this stuff was not available to us and to eat the way we are suppose to be eating without all the chemicals and salt for another 2 points.
And One more no weighing for a week..I know this is hard for us cause alot of us are scale junkies..But lets look in the mirror instead ofa scale to make us feel good..Its not all about the numbers..for another 2 points. (Obviously, other than the weigh in on Saturday)

I replied to this on my team's thread, but thought I should chime in here, too.

I get it that some people opt to weigh in only once per week or or do it sporadically. I choose to weigh in every day and I track that data for my long term benefit. I'm not going to stop now, and frankly I have a problem with assessing a penalty because someone chooses to do something that arguably has no negative effect on getting healthy and/or losing weight. I'll have to pass on this one. Sorry Team.

No worries Don - I weigh in every day too. It's important - keeps me on track.
I agree I don't think has a negative effect on getting healthy /losing weight.

The only good thing about the challenge is "back to basics"

I do not see this as any different than the 'water only' or the 'organic food' challenge. I did not see any healthy benefits in either (that is not a critique of either of those challenges, simply an example), but I tried to get as many points as I could. Had to pass on the water, so yes, it cost me some points, but that's how it goes. We all will have stuff that we don't agree with or don't really see the point of at some point.

In this particular case, I will make a few decisions though.

1) Jumping Jacks - as with any exercise, any kind of modification that anybody needs to make the exercise possible for them is okay. Also, I am dropping the amount from 25 to 10, and then at least one more than the day before on each consecutive day. How many more is up to how much you want/can do.

2) The weighing in thing is only 2 points overall, not 2 points per day. So it shouldn't make a great difference whether you decide to do it or not.

3) The third part about the non-microwave stuff stays as it is.

I hope this helps. As said, there will always be challenges that are unpopular with some people (this one certainly is with me! ;)) but that is why it is called a challenge in the first place.

No weighing for a week is going to be quite a tricky one!!!

Right - I want a ruling on the new challenge... is it "no microwave" as such or "no microwaving ready meals"? I am wondering about the situation of heating up things in the microwave compared to putting in a saucepan... I am thinking things like tinned veg, soup, baked beans - also things like jacket potatoes etc need a ruling.

If there is a ruling there up front - we know exactly where we stand.

So for max points with jumping jacks we are talking do
10 on sat
11 on sun
12 on mon
13 on tues
14 on wed
15 on thur
16 on fri

but I have a query...

what if you do not know how many you have done??? can we ignore those???

sometimes in zumba we end up doing them in the middle of dance routines and we have no control over whether any are being thrown in, how many are being thrown into the session and are not in a fit state to be counting...
if you count the jumping jacks and half jacks in this clip you will see what I mean...

we do a similar routine to this to "l'amore" - just in our version there are more jumping jacks...

can I ignore the ones that I havent counted?

The question about the microwaveable stuff is up to Christine, so I am putting this out here for her.

The jumping jacks - yes, you can ignore the ones you haven't counted. :)

That's a relief... It sounds mad - but I often have no idea how many things like that I have actually done... I am too exhausted to count anything...

Hey guys in response to all questions,
the weighing in is 2 points a day not a week.I assumed everyone knew that because we do our points daily..It is a real challenge for me as well because I weigh sometimes twice a day,why I am considering this a challenge for all of us and for me..If it doesnt work for some of you because it keeps you on track..I understand that as well but its only for a week.We are losing weight for a lifetime.
The jumping jacks starts off with 25 on saturday ..then 30 on sunday etc..
I should of been clearer on the microwaveable stuff..I know people cook their potatoes in the mic.thats fine.canned vegetable soup is fine as wellI know some people are on weight watchers which is fine too But canned pastas like chef boyardee is not ..lol or pizza pockets..which I love by the way.anything frozen except beef chicken, pork is not allowed..I hope this sums it up.

OMEGA..yes it does..the reasoning behind it is to push ourselves a little more each day.
and baked beans are fine.anything you have made and want to mic it after is fine.

I really don't see what everyone is complaining about. I'm grossly out of shape and did 50 jumping jacks as one of the different exercises/day mini-challenge. Jumping jacks are way, way more easy to do than situps...

And good luck to everyone on brushing up on your cooking skills. I know this is going to be a challenge for me and an excuse to learn how to make meals besides breakfast and lunch.

I did 120 combined jumping jacks and half jacks on Sunday. That is 240 jumping jacks by this definition.

I certainly am not complaining about doing 25,30,35,40,45,50,55... My main problem is going to be one of remembering to do them among my normal exercise patterns...
