Weight-Loss
I'd like to sign up

Hi my name is Andrea, I'd like to sign up for this New Years to Valentine's Day Challenge...its about a 45 day challenge.

Age - 34

Current Weight- 147

Goal weight- 120 by Memorial Day, 140 by Valentine's day

Motivation - I want to fitter and have more energy. Also would like to run a 10k this spring.

Accountability - Staying away from chocolate. Drinking 64 oz of water a day. Exercising 6 days a week for a full hour each time.

Biggest Obstacle - my long commute. I work down in DC and have a very long commute, moving is not an option since it won't remedy the commute time, plus that may change come Summer 2008. I have a long day out of the house (12 hours)

I'm starting Tuesday, Jan 1st, with a 45 minute walk/run following with 45 minute pilates DVD.

Ugh... I know how you feel. Its hard enough to exercise after a regular 8-9 hr day of work! Right now I have a similar problem .. I am an office manager at an optometrist office and we are very short staffed. I end up having extremly stressed out days where I'm running around like crazy trying to get everything done and keep everyone happy. On top of that I end up usually working late and putting in 10-11 hr days. Though my communte is only minuetes I am completely exhausted when I get home.

I just started dieting today. I plan to rejoin the gym tommorrow. I have a few days off this week (extremly unusual!!) so I want get a really good start going this week. I can't wait to get to that point where I feel like I have more energy.. hopefully that will balance out the effect of my stressful day!!

Good luck with the challenge!

Just an idea but this year I started getting up EARLY, like 4:45am so I can work out before I get to work. It really helps me get my day going and I am SO much more equipped to handle a stressful day--and there is no putting it off becuase I have xyz going on after work or I get stuck at work etc etc. I LOVE it but its not for everyone.

 Hiii everyone!!!

I would like to join this challenge!! I am new to this forum, but recently lost 14lbs and want to continue the trend throughout the new year. I think that this challenge will be a good way to keep me motivated for the beginning of the year...I hope I can find another challenge after this one ends :D

:willy_nilly: woooooohoooooo I'm excited!!

I'd looove to try that, and maybe I will. I just have suuuuch a hard time getting up early. I've never been a morning person. I know it will energize me for the day though. I think getting started is the trick!!! I really should try! I'll check out my gym-- see how early they open.

I'm really looking forward to this starting!

I am going to make a new ticker tomorrow right after I weigh myself! I want to wait until tomorrow, so I get my official 2008 start weight!

I am hoping to be at 165 by Valentine's Day!

I can't even imagine being in the 160's!

I'd like to join.

I'm currently 159 and hope to be 147 or less by Valentines day *fingers crossed*

What do I do? Just post my weight every Thur?

:)

I know I"m starting this early, but some of us might not be around for a few days around christmas.

I want to start a New Year Weight loss challenge. DO you all want to do a "loose weight together" kinda deal or do we want seperate groups in more of a competative environment??

I think 1 mth is plenty long for a single challenge. So it'll run from Jan 1-31st.

Also, the only "rule" I have is that come the 1st, I don't want any new people joining. Once teams are made up , I HATE going back and adding new members.....do you all think thats fair??????

If you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know!!!

Lets sign up!! I'm in :)

Hello.. I just joined this forum yesturday and I just noticed this challenge like 5 minutes ago. I was wondering if I could still join. I know that it said come the 1st that you didnt want any newcomers... i really would LOVE to do this. So, if someone could let me know that would be great! Thank you all!!

Katie

Hi,

I would like to join in too. So should I make a new ticker? How does this work?

Glad to see we have so many joining!!!

This is going to be a VERY LAID BACK kind of challenge, I think we have like 75 challengers. B/c of that, I am not going to run this like a regular challenge. Now that I"m in school I just don't have time to make sure EVERYONE is posting and such. Lets just run this more of a support group....sound good????

Yes, please still post your weight loss every thursday, starting w/ the 3rd of Jan. and we'll go till Feb 14th.

ALso, don't forget to also support your fellow challengers!! Don't just post, but read the other posts and respond! thats been a problem in past challenges.

You can have a V-Day ticker like mine, but its not being demanded, its your choice to make a new one or keep your old one, doesn't matter really.

I will send congrat's postcards to the biggest looser and the runner up!!!

bummer, is there anyone else that can help you? That is kind of why I stuck with this website and challenge because it sounded so competitive and cool! It is still nice dont get me wrong. I just think now both the challenges going are similar.

Happy new year's

one other idea might be to not form teams until after the first week and whomever doesnt post their #'s is eliminated plus the bottom 'however many' are eliminated until you get just the # you need for the teams you had planned.

just an idea

I'm not trying to get rid of you at all, but I think the other challenge is doing the whole point system and is being a bit more competitive if that's what you are looking for.

I chose this one because I am too lazy to track points. I just wanted a place to support and receive support while reaching a new goal!

Although I do agree with maybe dumping those who don't participate. I'm happy with whatever! :)

No, hun, the other challenge is VERY competative and this one is more of a support group......

Ok, heres what happend, I started this challenge and asked if everyone wanted a competative challenge or more of a support group. Before anyone responded, another member started the biggest looser challenge which is VERY COMPETATIVE....so, I thought I'd do the support group thing for anyone who didn't want to be competative.

Isn't that what you all thought?? or did you think it was competative??? If you really want the competative one I will be willling to do that...as suggested I can wait till after the 1st week to see who shows up and who doesn't (good idea btw) OR since I thought we were understanding that it was a support group, we can leave it that way.

Its up to you guys, I don't care.....U know what? I'll put up a poll, that'll work :)

Like I said, I am fine with whatever.

I am just trying to escape the whole points thing. I am too lazy to keep track.

I would like to set a goal, weigh in, and see results! I don't feel like messing with adding and subtracting points for weight, exercise, etc.

As long as there's no points, I'm in!

I can do competitive or I can do strictly supportive!

I would rather it just be held back. Its too crazy around my house to really worry about the point issue but its nice to have the whole support thing.

I agree to a point however I think we should weight in and support eachother but also post goals to follow...just my 2 cents...Like Im gonna do weights twice a week or whatever it maybe...oh and how much they wanna loose by Valentine's Day...

HAPPY NEW YEAR by the way:D:D:D

Alright, I have my new ticker, and I'm ready to lose! :)
