How did the cooking come out? I'm sure it was good...:D

The cooking went well overall - the turkey chili I brought for Easter Sunday dinner was well received, as was the chocolate-walnut fudge (which I think I'm getting better at making). I also attempted making pistachio pudding from scratch and it actually turned out decently - I used maple syrup to sweeten it rather than sugar and water, and did a 1:1 substitution which meant there was too much liquid in the pudding. I intend to rectify that next time I try it. Although the texture was liquidy the taste was good enough that I brought it in to work along with the Irish Pub Stew I made that night.

Looks like things are going well for you! When I read your post on fudge, it made me think that I should make some for the show this weekend. Either that or No-Bake Cookies....or hell...I might do both! LOL :p

If you're gonna have a better chance at meeting Josh, you might want to choose something healthier to make. :) Just a thought. :)

Where do you get your routines from?

From the corporate gym that I go to - I've been working with one of the women that work there. She's designed my programs since I've started there - all I've pretty much told her is I wanted something for general fitness that uses free weights and that if necessary I could do it all properly at home.

A brief addendum: When I went to the doc's office, they weighed me and I came in at 239 (about 7 lbs down from my last visit about a month ago - I'm guessing it was mostly added water weight from the infection). However, the diuretic I take decided that as I was leaving the doctor's office would be a good time to really do its thing. Naturally, when I got to the gym, I made a beeline to the restroom, and answered that particularly pressing call of nature. Then I changed into my gym clothes and hopped on the scale (the one I usually use) and weighed in at 236. The highest recorded weight I was at (in Jan '05) was 354, making the total lost around 118 lbs.

118???
awesome
congrats

Workout 4/13

Hiking 1.5 hours

Changed things up a little and went hiking at one of the state parks. Had my trail runners on and my day pack (with my 3L reservoir full). It was different, and certainly the most appropriate training I've done for this coming Saturday. If the weather's not too bad, I'll try walking around town with the pack/reservoir to get more of a feel for it today.

That sounds like a lot of fun! Jealous! :D

New York has state parks too :)

As for Friday, while I'd admit to spending a good amount of time watching the trail and picking my way through it, when I did look up I saw some pretty amazing things. A couple of ducks making their way slowly up a stream, the view of the lake through the trees from several points on the trail, the man-made stone walls which seemed to trace out a small set of buildings, and what they might have been used for. The park appeared empty of other humans, as the cold and light snow had kept them indoors. This tranquility only seemed to magnify the voice of the woods. When all was said and done, I was a good deal colder, and definitely more tired, but more content and maybe even a little wiser too.
