My Diary

No offense meant here, but at horse shows no one wants health food. We want yummy food.

There are things on the zaar that people wouldn't know it was healthy. I'm telling you just check it out. You'll be amazed what you can find.

None taken - you just seem to have the preconceived idea that healthy food and yummy food are mutually exclusive. (I felt the same way too for a good LONG time.) But they aren't. Given your intended audience though I can see why you'd want to make something traditional/unhealthy, but if you do, I'd suggest limiting your own consumption of it.

Sounds like your hike was fun! :) I wish I could hike more. Given the snow/rain we've had, I'll have to wait another month or so.

Well the trail was muddy down toward the river (yay for trail runners) but past that it was just the wind, damp and cold in the air. Saturday (the day of the big hike), is shaping up to be a beauty of a day - sunny and mid 60's - I almost can't wait.

Agreed - I know that I always bring up the turkey chili, but it's a great example of something that tastes good, has nutritious stuff in it, and is low in fats and such.

Sounds like a discussion that I had with a friend of mine (a trainer). He insisted on me taking the protein bar that IMHO tastes like crap :p hahaha and I kept telling him that I rather chose HEALTHY food that ALSO taste GOOD. I mean, who said healthy =/= taste, right? :D

Workout 4/18

Chest Press (on bench) 2x8@70, 1x8@65
Squat and Overhead Press 1x12@30
Bent Row 1x12@50
Touchdowns 1x12
Dips from the Bench 1x12
Cross Chop with Squat 1x12@40
Reverse Fly 1x12@25

Step Up (on bench) 1x15 supersetted with...
Bicep Curl (2 sec up, 4 sec down) 2x10@25

Oblique Twists on Stability Ball 1x20
Ball Bridge (One Leg)
Crunches on Ball 1x12@10 (weight overhead this time)
Hip Raise and Leg Curl (Feet on Stability Ball) 1x10 both legs +
Leg Curl 1x5 each leg

My right side isn't liking the bench press much. I wasn't able to do the last set of 8 with it at 70, so I moved back to the 65s. I'll have to figure out what's going on though as the ironic thing it's generally my left side's weaker.

Hiking clothes

A somewhat disappointing day yesterday, as I went out to get some clothes for Saturday's hike. It just reinforced the idea that I'm still not able to shop for clothes in places everyone else can shop - but I'm getting closer. The only pants that were available in my waist size were too long in the leg, but I'm hoping I can find a way to fold or button them up so as to be usable. On the good side though, I did find a nice fleece pullover, and a waterproof windbreaker on sale.

I need to complete my preparations tonight as I'm leaving tomorrow to get out to the hiking site - that means making more food to take with me on the trail, getting the clothes situated and making sure the camera's in good working order with a fully charged battery. That and going out with friends for a few drinks means it will be a busy night. (All this of course will occur after spinning...)

Have a good time. Take lots and lots of pics. We want to see them when you get back.

You are almost there! I am amazed at your progress, I barely know you and am proud of you. What you have done is next to impossible for many people. I am sorry I don't post regularly, but I am always impressed with your energy and progress! Keep up the great work, glad your foot is doing better.

I second that!

Thanks everyone :)

Just waiting for my friend to pick me up. The weather outside is absolutely wonderful - I can't remember a day this nice since before winter set in. If tomorrow's anything like today, it's going to be amazing! I made sure to charge the battery on my camera, and clear the memory card, so I'll have 198 opportunities to capture nature.

See y'all on Sunday.

Dnf

Ok, it's Monday....where are you?? How was it??

I did not finish the hike - stopped about 9 miles into it (out of 15.6). Having mixed feelings about the day - the people, the place, the weather were all great, I just feel like I should've made a better showing. I'll try to figure out a way to put the few photos I was able to take up.

still nine miles is nine miles!!! Make it a goal if you can to improve! You always seem to give it your all, I'm sure you did this time too.

I agree...you never do anything half-@$$ed. Give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done, and move on from there! Nine miles is GREAT! :D

Don't let it get you down. To even do that after what all you accomplished is amazing. I understand that maybe you thought you should have finished it, but don't sweat it. You made hiking your goal and you accomplished half of it. Now you know what you're weakeness/strengths are so you can finish the other half. I'm still proud of you just for just getting out there and going as far as you can. Just out of curiosity, what made you have to stop half way into it?
