My Diary

Well, had my yearly appointment with one of the specialists I see... turns out I was incorrect with my highest weight - it actually was 354, which would put me at around 110 lbs lost so far.

Way to go! Can't wait to see the lastest picture. I bet it will be hawt..:D

Cooking Day

Well, since I didn't do much of anything on Saturday, Sunday was cooking day. That is, the day I set aside to cook my meals for the week. A new twist on some old favorites was fun, as well as adding an entirely new dish as well. Apart from making myself my usual breakfast, I tried out the soy milk smoothie I've been accustomed to making but this time used frozen tropical fruit in a generous supply and a frozen banana (along with a cup of soy milk). Blended it all together, and found it was so thick I had to spoon it out of the blender. lol It was delicious though.

Lunch was pineapple chicken lo mein - only this time I added some mushrooms and added a 1/4 cup of hoisin sauce to the mix. The result was a heavier, darker tasting sauce with a hint of sweetness that contrasted well with the pineapple.

After going to the grocery store, I decided to throw together yet another batch of the turkey chili. In doing so I found I used up a container of hot chili powder but fortunately I had another on hand. It was the first time I know of that I actually used up an entire spice bottle (over the course of time, not just that one day).

Last but certainly not least, since I have cottage cheese to use up I thought I'd try to make cottage cheese lasagna. It took longer than I thought (mainly because I had to wait longer for the sauce to reduce, but it was well worth the effort.

All sounds good. Will have to try the lasagna sometime soon.

Tough getting through today's workout as the body just was not into it. Thankfully I'll see my doctor tomorrow and start this leg getting treated.

Edited to add:

30 Minutes Recumbent Bike, Avg Lvl 8
30 Minutes Treadmill, Peak Speed 3.0, Peak Incline 3.0

I hoped that since I didn't have the energy for a hard workout to make up in endurance what I lacked in power. Seemed to do ok.

I told you that frozen banana makes it thick!! :D With the milk instead of soy-it's just perfect! And I love adding the choc. whey!! No need for any sweetner!

Workout 3/7

Spinning

A strength class - easier than the race day and all terrain rides we had last week, but still some hard work.

Saw my doc yesterday and got some antibiotics for my leg. I really think (and hope) that that's what's been making me weak when I go to lift. I was also careful to get in some good sleep the last couple of days, so hopefully I'll see some better results today. Also, rather than being pissed off at my subpar results I should be thankful that the leg problem wasn't as acute nor widespread as it was in previous circumstances. So in that sense, I AM getting healthier.

Glad to hear it wasn't serious. You'll get back on track soon.

So glad to hear that you got things checked out. It sounds like things will get back on track soon and yes, I think you ARE getting healthier! I can't believe you doubted it before! :D

The numbers are roughly the same as Monday's, but the feeling was altogether different. I made sure to get some good rest and I think the antibiotic is starting to work, since there was a lot less "yuck" (it's a very scientific term) in the muscles.

Thanks for all the good wishes - like I said before, I should be glad that the leg didn't get worse than it was (which really wasn't bad at all). Even though it wasn't bad, it still affected my entire body, not just the leg. Although it's obvious, I think being reminded of the obvious things from time to time is a good thing.

On an unrelated note, in the past couple of days I've been called a good cook by a couple of people (that I don't know) at work. This is on the basis of the turkey chili I brought in a month ago for our superbowl party. So I suppose I'm doing ok with my culinary skills.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. I'm just happy to make some good healthy food. I'm not sure the hotness factor is increased, but it's good to be recognized for something like that.

A New Goal

I've been given a shortish term goal (that I've agreed to do) - there's a 15 mile hike at one of our state parks here in April, that's going to involve some uphill and downhill work. There's also a preperatory hike toward the end of this month that will be around 9 or 10 miles. So my training is going to be steered toward preparing for both outings. I'm kind of apprehensive as I've never done anything like this before, but also into giving it a try. A cousin of mine and a few friends are going to do the April hike so it should be fun. All in all I'm looking forward to it, and expanding my horizons.

As for training, more lower body/leg exercises are going to start appearing in my strength training and the treadmill (with higher inclines) will start being my cardio workout when I'm not spinning. Also, I'm going to start getting out on the weekends and just walking to get myself used to being on the go for that long.

Yay!! That's a good short goal. I like to walk to the park and around it and back home. That's an hr walk. Do you live in an addition? That's a good place to walk if you can.
