My Diary

Oh....My....GAWD.....that sounds really yummy.

And they say the way to a MAN'S heart is through his stomach... lol Actually had artichoke dip, and shrimp and pepper pizza (along with a few Golden Monkeys - a belgian tripel brewed here in PA by Victory Brewing, great stuff).

LOL u can't forgo the brew, can u stingo? :p

Nope, I could probably count the number of times I've gone out like this this year on one, maybe both hands. The place we met at usually has one micro on tap so I try to encourage it by drinking that. (Plus the bartender knew how to make a real half and half - and need I add, she was hot.) An excellent time was had by all, I believe. It was around 11:30 by the time we actually left lol.

Stingo you eat the best freakin food ever

Thank you :) I take some pride in the fact that most of what I eat I make myself, but when out I try the unusual things first. Some things though you just don't see around much, like the pineapple chicken lo mein, but I can always have it when I want to. I have noticed that people that exercise regularly seem to be very into food, which sounds kind of... paradoxical at first gloss but it's true. I used to be of the opinion that low fat foods/recipes weren't worth my time, as being substandard to regular fare. My thinking now is that if you can get a great taste, but with the added benefit of cutting down the calories, go for it. Of course the notion of what tastes good is a moving target... before I would've said any high fat food... now I enjoy a much wider variety of tastes (veggie biryani anyone?) with a more experienced palate. (Probably more than you bargained for lol but was thinking about this the other day and am in a talkative kind of mood today)

Workout 12/14

Spinning - Endurance Ride

I don't know if I'd ever call a spinning class easy... but this one was easier than the ones we have been doing. Holding at 75%-80% of max heart rate was a nice break from the strength and interval classes we'd been doing.

hm... only thing I can think of is desert stuff with taro :D other than that just boil it and replace the carb in your meal with it. I'm positive zaar will have a tins of suggestion to cook taro with tho :p

On Saturday I made Naan, but wasn't able to roll out the dough flat enough so ended up with naancakes - still delicious and finished off yesterday. Also made soft-boiled eggs for a snack. Linguini with Beef-Zucchini Sauce was my weekly real dinner, and I made chicken with black beans, corn, salsa and cream cheese for the week.

Yesterday I made yet another attempt at fudge - and still botched it because the heat was too low - but I'm getting closer.... I also made a wassail for the office party today - it's rather more lemony than I usually make it since the weather's going to be in the low 50's today. I think that's about it from the weekend.

Food Hangover

Well the office party was yesterday so I'm in kind of a food hangover both from the amount and type of calories I had. Healthy eating is welcome and a comfort as the way I feel now is a reminder to get back on track.

I contributed a wassail and a batch of fudge, both of which were nearly finished. (Only the dregs of the wassail are left, and maybe half a pound of fudge from a 2.5 pound batch.) My taster here at work approved of both, and the book club I go to came back for seconds of the fudge, so I'm quite happy with my success (finally!) :).

Way to go on the fudge. Glad it was a success and the office party as well.

Today is my day to make treats for the Christmas party tomorrow at school, so I'll be baking too. We are making sugar free no bake cookies, sugar free cooca mix and puppy chow...:D Gotta love the puppy chow!!

Good job on the fudge Stingo! You are one determined cookie...haha pun intended ;)
I'm also inspired by your cooking! I never feel like i have time or patience enough to cook with my kids around. they end up helping and it ends up taking twice as long..which puts my meal off way too long for my liking :) But ask anyone, patience is NOT my strong suit :) Someday if I get organized enough I can try out some of your great recipes on the weekends when time is more relaxed. Great job on workouts too!!
